1999 Cadillac Catera problems
The Cadillac Catera is a four-door, five passenger, rear-wheel drive luxury sedan marketed from 1996 until 2001 by Cadillac over a single generation in the United States and Canada. As a rebadged variant of the Opel Omega B, the Catera was manufactured by Opel in Rüsselsheim, Germany, and was underpinned by GM's V-body platform. Approximately 95,000 units were built and sold over five model years.
History
The Catera was previewed at the Detroit Auto Show in 1994 as the Cadillac LSE concept, proposed by Cadillac as an entry-level model that would compete with sedans from Acura, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, Jaguar, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz.
In 1996, an early-production model was shown at the Detroit, Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto auto shows. Cadillac began marketing the Catera in the United States in the fall of 1996 as a 1997 model with a base price of $29,995 (equivalent to $58,300 in 2023).
Some of the standard features on the Catera included a cloth interior, front bucket seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, AM/FM stereo radio with cassette player and eight-speaker sound system, airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, keyless entry, security system, alloy wheels, compact spare tire, and full instrumentation. Optional equipment included leather interior, heated seats, cassette player and CD player combination, Bose premium sound system, power sunroof, Homelink, OnStar, and chrome wheels.
A Sport model was offered beginning in 1999 with eight-way power adjustable seats, heated front seats, 17-inch wheels, driver's seat memory, audible theft-deterrent system, three-channel garage door opener, high-intensity discharge headlamps, and a rear spoiler.
The Catera received a facelift in 2000 with revised nose, tail, wheels, interior trim, mirrors, optional HID headlamps, stiffer suspension settings, and side airbags.
The model's engine was a 200 hp (149 kW) L81 54° DOHC V6 manufactured in England at GM's Ellesmere Port facility, using an FR layout. The GM 4L30-E automatic transmission was manufactured at GM's plant in Strasbourg, France.

Common 1999 Cadillac Catera problems
The Cadillac Catera, produced from 1997 to 2001, was intended to be a successor to the ill-fated Cimarron model. It was designed to combine German engineering with American styling, but it fell short of expectations. This article will explore common problems reported by owners of the 1999 Cadillac Catera, based on complaints found in various sources.
- Electronics and Computer Issues
The most significant issue with the 1999 Cadillac Catera is related to electronics and the computer system. The computer often moves the transmission into a higher gear than necessary, causing the engine to stall or hesitate. This problem can be dangerous and affects the overall performance of the car.
- Fuel Efficiency and Gas Tank Size
The 1999 Cadillac Catera has a reputation for poor fuel efficiency. Despite having a small gas tank, the car consumes fuel quickly, requiring frequent trips to the gas station. This issue can be particularly frustrating for owners who drive long distances or have a daily commute.
- Expensive and Hard-to-Find Parts
As a rebadged Opel Omega, the Cadillac Catera uses German parts that can be expensive and difficult to find. For example, a radiator for the Catera can cost up to $600, and finding a mechanic who is familiar with these parts can be challenging.
- Suspension and Steering Problems
The 1999 Cadillac Catera's suspension and steering systems can experience problems, particularly when the car has been driven for a while. The steering may become difficult or unresponsive, and the car may make squeaking sounds when driving.
- Transmission Issues
Some owners of the 1999 Cadillac Catera have reported transmission problems, with the car acting up or stalling occasionally. This issue can be particularly concerning for drivers who rely on their cars for daily transportation.
- Timing Belt Failure
A common problem with the 1999 Cadillac Catera is the sudden failure of the timing belt tensioner pulley. When this happens, bent valves and flying rods can cause a quick and expensive death for the engine. This issue led to an expensive recall and contributed to the car's poor reputation.
- Interior and Exterior Issues
Some owners of the 1999 Cadillac Catera have reported problems with the car's interior and exterior, including issues with the seats, Bose system, door joints, sunroof, tire rods, brake system, batteries, window motor, radio, water pump, and various lights on the dash and instrument panel.
In conclusion, the 1999 Cadillac Catera has a number of common problems that can affect its performance, safety, and reliability. These issues include electronics and computer problems, fuel efficiency and gas tank size, expensive and hard-to-find parts, suspension and steering problems, transmission issues, timing belt failure, and interior and exterior problems. While some owners have reported positive experiences with the car, these common problems can make ownership a frustrating and expensive experience.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: THE RUNNING LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I WAS IN HARMS WAY IN THE RAIN AND HAD TO TAKE THE CARE 70 MORE MILES, WHILE I COULD GET OUT OF THE BUFFALO AREA TO A SAFE LOCATION FOR THE NIGHT. THE LIGHTS NEVER WENT OFF TILL THE BATTERY WAS EXHAUSTED. WHEN RECHARGED THE HEADLIGHTS REMAINED ON AGAIN, UNABLE TO BE TURNED OFF. WHEN I MANAGED TO EXCHANGE A RELAY, THE NEXT PROBLEM OCCURRED, THE PARKING LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I DID RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON MANUFACTURING PROBLEM THAT NHTSA HAS DIRECTED TO BE FIXED WITHOUT COST, DUE TO IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE GM LINES HAVE NOT ADJUSTED AND STILL OFFER ON SEVERAL VEHICLES. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL VALLEY CADILLAC WHO DECLINED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ALSO DECLINED TO FIX WITHOUT CHARGE. SHE WANTS TO CHARGE A DIAGNOSTIC FEE INSTEAD OF MAKING THE PERMANENT CORRECTION OF EXCHANGING THE CORRECT THE DEVICE, PROPERLY ONCE AND FOR ALL. I TOLD HER I WOULD CONTACT NHTSA. I ALSO ASKED HER TO SEND A MESSAGE TO CADILLAC/ GM'S LEGAL AND I AM INFORMING MY LAWYER THAT IF I SHOULD DIE, OPERATING THIS VEHICLE, THAT I MY CHILDREN SHOULD FILE A WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT AGAINST ALL INVOLVED. THIS PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED A COUPLE OF MONTHS EARLIER, FRIENDLY FRED'S IN ERWIN, NY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT CORRECTED ITSELF, UNTIL THIS PAST MONDAY, 4-30-12. I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT DATE OF THE LAST OCCURRENCE BUT I ALSO HAD A OIL CHANGE WHICH I THINK IS THE LATE FALL OF 2011. I AM A DISABLED PERSON WHO CAN'T BE EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS FOR VERY LONG. SINCE YOU, NHTSA HAS ALREADY CALLED FOR ALL OF THESE SYSTEMS TO BE REPLACED, I WANT NHTSA TO PROMPT AND PROVOKE GM'S CADILLAC TO MAKE THE REPAIR. I WORK IN THE ROCHESTER AND BUFFALO AREAS AS THERE IS NO WORK IN CORNING AREA. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE THIS CAR WHICH IS VITAL FOR MY SURVIVAL...UPDATED 05/09/12 *BF UPDATED 05/25/12 UPDATED 06/19/2012 *JS

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES,EQUIPMENT PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2006-01-01
- VIN: W06VR52R9XR
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES,EQUIPMENT
- Summary: I PURCHASED A 99 CATERA ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO AND SENSE THEN THIS CAR IS A CARDBOARD BOX ON WHEELS. THE ALARM SYSTEM AS GONE LOOPY IN THE SENSE THAT I COULDN'T START MY VEHICLE UNLESS I CRANKED IT ONCE LEFT IT FOR 15-30 MIN AND THEN CRANKED IT AGAIN. AFTER DISABLING THE ALARM SYSTEM IT WOULD ONLY HAPPEN ON OCCASION. THE AC/HEATER WENT OUT DUE TO THE COMPRESSOR HAVING TO MUCH COMPRESSION. THE SUNROOF OPENS AND CLOSES BY ITSELF OR NOT AT ALL. THE VACUUM HOSES HAD HOLES IN IT WHICH WAS A RECALL BUT NOT TO KEN BATCHLEOR. THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR HS GONE OUT THREE TIMES AND COSTS 300 TO REPLACE EVERYTIME. MY UPPER RADIATOR HOSE LEAKS CONTINUOUSLY BY THE CLAMP. THE LEVELING LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR DAYS AT A TIME. THE ARM THAT KEEPS MY DRIVERS DOOR OPEN BROKE THROUGH THE DOOR WELDINGS AND IS DANGLING IN THE DOOR. THE SEALS ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WATER IN THE ENGINE. I PAID MORE IN REPAIRS FOR THIS VEHICLE THEN WHAT IT ORIGINALLY COST. THE DRIVERS FRONT AND REAR WINDOW GETS STUCK AND OPENS BY THEIR SELVES. THE DOOR LOCKS DO NOT LOCK FULLY OR OPEN FULLY. THE HORN WILL GO OUT ALL TOGETHER IN THE RAIN. EVERYTIME I TAKE IT IN THEY CAN NEVER READ ANY ERR CODES AND IT TAKES ME SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO EXPLAIN THE ISSUE CAUSING ME TO GET REPAIRS THAT AREN'T PART OF THE MAIN PROBLEM. THERE IS NO CAMBER ADJUSTMENTS IN THIS CAR SO IF U HIT A CURB YOUR SCREWED. GAS FULL STOP RANDOMLY DOES NOT WORK AND CAUSES LOSS OF MONEY AND GAS. ME AND MY FAMILY OF 5 HAVE BEEN STRANDED FOR HOURS DUE TO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND HERE IN TEXAS WITH A CAR THAT HAS NO AC OR HEATER IS A MAJOR PAIN. ANYONE WHO HASN'T BOUGHT ONE... DON'T!!!! CADILLAC THEMSELVES TOOK THE DUCKS OFF THE EMBLEM AFTER 99 BECAUSE THEY THEMSELVES DIDN'T THINK OF THIS CAR AS A CADILLAC STANDARD CAR. WHEN I CALLED KEN BATCHLORE THEY STATED THERE WHERE ONLY TWO RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT HAD ALREADY EXPIRED AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I FEEL SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS IGNORANCE. PROBLEMS SINCE 06-PRESENT. *TR

DEPENDING ON THE PRECIPITATION, THERE WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 4 INCHES OF WATER ON THE FLOOR. THE WATER ORIGINATED FROM THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. ALSO, THE CONTACT OBSERVED A SMALL AMOUNT OF MILDEW ON THE CARPET AND SMELLED A STRONG ODOR. THE FAILURES OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2006-12-17
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: OUR 1999 CADILLAC CATERA ENGINE SHELLED OUT DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE SERPENTINE BEARING ASSEMBLY THAT GENERAL MOTORS ELECTED TO INSTALL ON THE 3.0 V-6 ENGINE FOR THIS CAR. GM IS WELL AWARE OF THE DEFECT BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE DEFECTIVE BEARINGS FREEZE UP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS,IT CAUSES A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE; HENCE RESULTING IN AN EXPENSIVE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. BECAUSE GM DOES NO LONGER MAKE THE 3.0 V-6 MOTOR FOR THIS CAR, YOU ARE STUCK WITH PURCHASING ONE USED FROM WHEREVER YOU CAN FIND ONE. MY USED ENGINE COST $3,460 TO REPLACE THE ONE THAT WAS IN MY VEHICLE. THE MILES ON THE REPLACEMENT MOTOR WAS STATED TO ME AS 39,000 + MILES. MY ORIGINAL MOTOR WENT OUT AT 116,000. IF NOT FOR THE TRACKING SYSTEM IN MY CAR, I WOULD HAVE BEEN AT THE MERCY OF THE PUBLIC WHILE I WAS 230 MILES FROM HOME. THE ONLY CLUE THAT I HAD THAT SOMETHING WAS AMISS WAS FROM A FAINT OILY BURNT SMELL JUST PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. THIS WAS EXPLAINED TO ME BY THE DEALER THAT WAS FROM THE BEARING SEIZURE AND THE SERPENTINE BELT. THE ENGINE HAD NO KNOWN PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE BREAKDOWN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED, AND WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A FAULTY PULLEY TENSIONER IN THE CHARGING SYSTEM. THE PART WAS ORDERED AND REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE FINAL DETERMINATION FROM THE DEALER WAS THAT THE ENTIRE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2005-10-19
- Number Of Injuries: 1
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: CAR'S "CHECK ENGINE" AND TRANSMISSION DASH LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY STAY ON AND THE CAR WON'T START. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL START AND MOVE WITH THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT ON BUT THE CAR IS SLUGGISH. TWO OR THREE HOURS LATER THE CAR WILL START AND RUN FINE. THIS PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED A WEEK AFTER PURCHASE (SEP 2004) BUT THE DEALER COULDN'T IDENTIFY A PROBLEM. IT HAS GRADUALLY WORSENED, BUT NONE MORE THAN THIS EVENING WHEN MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALMOST KILLED! WE WERE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. NO ENGINE LIGHTS WERE ON. THE SPEEDOMETER ALL OF A SUDDEN WENT TO ZERO AND I LOST ALL POWER. AN EIGHTEEN WHEELER MISSED US BY INCHES AS I TRIED TO GET THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY DAUGHTER SLAMMED HER HEAD AGAINST THE SIDE WINDOW. GM AND CADILLAC SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF PUTTING THIS PRODUCT OUT. THEY HAVE ALL BUT WASHED AND TURNED THEIR BACK ON CATERA OWNERS. I AM RETIRING FROM THE U.S. AIR FORCE IN TWO WEEKS AFTER 25 YEARS OF SERVICE. I GET CHILLS WHEN I THINK OF AMERICANS WHO DIED IN WARS AND CONTINGENCIES TO PROTECT PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES LIKE THIS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE ISN'T ONE OFFICIAL RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS CAR FROM THE BEGINNING BUT NONE AS DANGEROUS AS THE CURRENT PROBLEM. I HAVE READ STORY AFTER STORY ON YOURS AND OTHER INTERNET SITES ABOUT THIS LEMON OF A CAR (1997 TO 2001). TOMORROW I WILL TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK TO BRING THIS CAR TO THE DEALER. EVERYTHING WILL BE BASED ON THEIR SCHEDULE AND I WILL HAVE TO FIND RIDES BACK AND FORTH (30 MINUTES FROM MY WORK AND 45 MINUTES FROM MY HOME). THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY ANY DTC CODES AND I WILL PAY FOR THINGS THAT THEY THINK IS WRONG WITH IT. IRONICALLY, MY RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE A CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. THEY DISAGREED DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND DID NOT REPLACE IT. IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE SENSOR, BUT SOMEONE MUST BE RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR IDENTIFYING AND FIXING THIS COMMON CATERA PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!*JB
AIR BAGS PROBLEM

HE HAD THE AIRBAG REPLACED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD HIT THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE BUMPER AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS OCCURRED IN AUGUST 2004. ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2005 THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND STAYED ON. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE AIRBAG MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DEFECTIVE PART WAS THE REPLACEMENT PART. *AK
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

- Fire: 1
- VIN: W06VR54R1XR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: WHERE DO I EVEN START WITH THE 1999 CATERA THAT I JUST HAD TO TRADE IN THIS WEEKEND DUE TO SO MANY THINGS THAT HAD WENT WRONG WITH THAT CAR. 1ST, WHEN FILLING THE CAR UP WITH GAS, IT WOULD NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF. DEALER FIXED 1ST TIME, BUT MESSED UP THE GAS GAUGE. IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN 1 MONTH LATER. YOU COULD NOT KEEP A SET OF TIRES ON THE CAR NO MATTER HOW MANY ALIGNMENTS THAT YOU HAD PERFORMED. THE SUNROOF WOULD NOT OPEN MOST OF THE TIME WHEN YOU TRIED TO OPEN IT, BUT IT WOULD OPEN ON IT'S OWN AT RANDOM. DEALER REPLACED THE SWITCH TWICE, PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 60K AND HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE *S* LIGHT FLASHING. THE FIRST RADIO WOULD NOT PICK UP ANY STATIONS, THE RADIO WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. 4K LATER AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AT 65K, THE CD PLAYER WOULD NO LONGER WORK. THE LOCKS WOULD NOT COMPLETELY LOCK WITH THE REMOTE OR WHEN THE CAR WAS PUT INTO GEAR. AT 90K, THE DRIVERS SIDE HEATED SEAT LITERALLY CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING AND BURNED A 4" DIAMETER HOLE IN FRONT BOLSTER. GM STATED THAT THIS IS "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT NORMALLY, THEY JUST STOP FUNCTIONING. THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS OF THE SEAT AT ALL. ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK THE CAR AS THE ACBIN QUICKLY FILLED WITH SMOKE AND AS SOON AS I CRACKED THE WINDOW, THE FIRE STARTED TO GET LARGER AS IT GOT MORE AIR TO FEED IT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOWED CYLINDER MISFIRES AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE $2500 TO $5000 TO REPAIR IT. I TRADED THE CAR ON 6/11/05 FOR A NEW 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB. I HOPE THAT GM READS THIS AND CALLS ME AT THE NUMBER I PROVIDED SO I CAN PROVIDE MORE DETAILED INFO ON THIS. I WAS LITERALLY SCREWED ON THIS CAR. IT WAS A LEMON FROM THE START AND NO ONE SEEMED TO CARE!

- Date Of Incident: 2003-04-15
- VIN: W06VR52R5XR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,TIRES,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I BROUGHT THIS VEHICLE AT ENTERPRISE USED CAR SALES ON APRIL 30,2002. I WAS GUARANTEED A BUMBER-TO-BUMBER INSPECTION OF THE CAR AND WAS TO BE IN OPERATIONAL CONDITION. AFTER I LEFT THE LOT WITH THE CAR; I COULD ONLY GO APPROXIMATLY A 1/4 OF MILE BEFORE I NEEDED TO GET GAS IN THE CAR. THAT WAS THE BEGINING OF THE TROUBLE. SO FAR SINCE APRIL OF THIS YEAR I'VE HAD TO REPLACE ALL OF THE TIRES, BRAKES, AND OTHER REPAIRS THAT THANKFULLY WAS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TWICE TO THE DEALERSHIP. AS WE SPEAK THE CAR IS BEING REPAIRED AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP HAD INFORMED ME THAT I HAVE THREE HOLES IN THE CAR THAT HAS CAUSED THE CAR TO OVERHEAT, PLUS OTHER PROBLEMS THAT THEY HAVE FOUND. WHEN IT RAINED THE CAR LEAKED INSIDE. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I MAY HAVE FORGOTEN TO ROLL UP A WINDOW. AFTER THE SECOND TIME I KNEW BETTER AND TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. I FOUND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT ENTERPRISE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT WHEN I EXPERINCED IT A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE I WENT TO INVESTGATE. THE REASON THAT I'M CONTACTING YOU IS THAT AFTER TALKING TO A REPERSENATIVE OF ENTERPRISE, AND INFORMING HIM OF THE SAME INFORMATION THAT I HAVE JUST INFORMED YOU OF; I WAS TREATED AS IF I'M SOME KIND OF INEPT PERSON WHO COULD NOT EVEN UNDERSTAND THE SIMPLISTIC WORKINGS OF A VEHICLE SUCH AS FLAT TIRES WITH METAL THREADS SHOWING THROUGH, OR ABLE TO NOTICE THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD OR THE SOUNDS OF METAL RUBBING ON METAL. I WAS ASKED REPEATLY IF I KNEW FOR SURE THAT THE BRAKES WERE REALLY NEEDING TO BE REPLACED OR IF IT WAS SOME TYPE OF SCAM THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS TRYING TO GET EXTRA MONEY, OR IF I TOOK THE BRAKES HOME AS EVIDENCE. I DON'T KNOW OF TOO MANY PEOPLE WHO REQUEST THEIR OLD BRAKES FOR SOME TYPE OF EVIDENCE. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF THIS TYPE OF INTEROGATION I ENDED THE CONVERSATION REALIZING THAT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS GOING TO BE DONE ABOUT THE SITUATION.

This car is such a blast to drive! I've received so many compliments on the interior and the sporty design of the car. The stereo system is absolutely incredible, and I can't get enough of it. Plus, it's easily one of the most comfortable cars I've ever owned!

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with Tara. Although I didn't purchase her new, I've done my best to take great care of her. She's had a few minor issues, but as with any luxury sports car, it's important to take her to the right repair shop. I've found that dealer service is the way to go. When you're behind the wheel of Tara, it feels like you should be cruising down the autobahn. She's incredibly fast and responsive. The only downside is that the mileage is a bit high due to my frequent driving, which can affect her value. However, I keep her in the garage and give her lots of love. I'm also pleasantly surprised by how economical she is on gas, especially with today's prices. I hope other Tara owners feel the same way!

Hi there! I'm new to the Cadillac world and so far, I'm really enjoying the ride! I've only had it for a couple of months and haven't had any mechanical problems yet. I don't think I'm quite qualified to rate the quality or reliability just yet, but I'm definitely happy with my purchase so far!

Great used car value.

Fun entry level luxury sedan. It may not be the most fuel-efficient car, but it certainly packs a punch!

Although we have experienced some issues with the car, we have taken care of it and serviced it regularly. We have replaced several parts, including the AC/Heat digital console, timing belt, two head gaskets, and the cigarette lighter, in the past 6 months. Despite this, the check engine light came on just two days after being serviced. While the parts can be expensive, we have taken the necessary steps to ensure the car is in good condition. The plastic coverings over everything under the hood can make it difficult to access certain areas, but we have still managed to address any problems that have arisen.

I purchased this car used for $20,000 with only 14,000 miles on it. It drove and handled great with plenty of pep. The features were outstanding and made for a comfortable ride. However, I have experienced some mechanical issues that have been a bit of a hassle. As a new mom, I have found that the back seat is a bit small and there is limited storage space. Additionally, the cup holders and glove compartment could be improved. I have noticed that the car starts roughly in colder weather (40s) and have had to replace the Bose stereo multiple times due to it cutting out. Although the check light is on constantly, no problems have been detected. I have also had to replace the expensive tires three times due to cupping and slow leaks. Despite these issues, I have put 73,000 miles on the car and plan to trade it in before the warranty runs out, even with negative equity.

This car has several issues, including constant transmission shifting, oil leakage from the engine, squeaky brakes, and poor performance when cold. Based on my expertise, I recommend avoiding this vehicle to save yourself from the trouble.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. I've had it since it was brand new and it ran great for a while. Unfortunately, it recently started having some issues. In just one month, I had to replace the transmission, starter, AC motor, and AC fan. On top of that, it started leaking oil pretty badly, which meant I had to add oil every morning and clean my driveway. It's been a bit of a hassle, but I'm hoping to get it fixed soon!

Our '99 Catera has been a challenging car to drive, with consistent pulling to one side and transmission problems causing improper shifting. Additionally, the rear view mirror has been smoking on occasion. Despite these issues, we remain confident in our ability to address and resolve these challenges. While we acknowledge that this car may not be the right fit for everyone, we believe that with the right attention and care, it can continue to serve us well.
