2024 Bmw I7 problems
G70 is the internal designation for the seventh generation of the BMW 7 Series, a range of luxury cars produced by the German luxury vehicle manufacturer BMW since July 2022.
Introduced in April 2022, 7 Series and i7 are the respective designations for BMW's internal combustion and battery electric full-size luxury flagship models. BMW had unveiled the model on 20 April 2022 during the nameplate's 45th anniversary. Sold as a 2023 model, it is longer than its predecessor model. This model offers petrol and diesel models, come standard with a 48-volt mild hybrid powertrain; a plug-in hybrid system is available. Additionally, this model is also the first 7 Series offer a mild hybrid powertrain. The seventh-generation BMW 7 Series is often collectively referred to as the G70.
The G70 commenced production on 1 July 2022, exactly seven years after the previous model. The i7 is the first 7 Series to offer a fully electric powertrain, which shares powertrains with the smaller G60 i5. Both 7 Series and i7 offer optional rear- or all-wheel drive drivetrains. The V12 model is no longer offered, instead gets replaced by the M760e plug-in hybrid.

Common 2024 Bmw I7 problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the BMW i7 2024, several common problems have been reported:
- ECU (Engine Control Unit) Malfunctions:
- Reports indicate problems with the ECU on the BMW i7, particularly in models manufactured in 2023. A programming defect in the ECU may prevent the transmission of vehicle location information to emergency responders. Additionally, another fault related to the ECU could lead to the front passenger airbag, knee airbag, and headrest being disabled in the event of a collision. BMW has issued recalls to address these ECU-related issues by updating the software on affected vehicles.
- Interaction Bar Issues:
- BMW recalled approximately 384 units of the 7 Series and i7 sedans due to dashboard interaction bar issues affecting the defogger and hazard lights. Complaints highlighted that the control buttons on the interaction bar may not illuminate when pressed, potentially leading to the failure of the defogger and hazard lights. This issue was identified to be caused by undervoltage conditions and breached federal motor vehicle safety standards. The recall involves replacing the faulty interaction bars at no cost to owners.
- Seat Malfunction:
- Some BMW i7 owners have reported seat malfunctions, such as errors indicating the need for seat calibration and driver restraint system malfunctions. These issues have required software resets and seat calibration to rectify the problems. In some cases, dealers have performed seat calibration to address the seat malfunction without requiring any parts replacement.
