2018 Bmw 530e problems
The seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series consists of the BMW G30 (sedan version) and BMW G31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') executive cars. The G30/G31 has been produced since 2016 by the German automaker BMW and is often collectively referred to as the G30. It was officially announced on 12 October 2016 and sales began in February 2017.
The fastback 5 Series Gran Turismo model from the previous generation is no longer part of the 5 Series model range, and has been moved to the 6 Series Gran Turismo nameplate. A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code G38) is sold in China.
On 27 May 2020, a facelifted 5 Series was unveiled. Although the 2021 BMW 5 Series is 1.2 inches longer than the 2020 model, many of the vehicle's other dimensions remain unchanged despite the styling redesign.
In 2023, the G30 5 Series was phased out in favor of the G60 5 Series. In 2024, the G31 was also phased out in favor of the new Touring model named G61.

Common 2018 Bmw 530e problems
The BMW 530e, a hybrid sedan introduced in 2018, offers a blend of luxury, style, and fuel efficiency. However, like any vehicle, it is not without its common problems. Here are some of the issues that 530e owners have reported:
- Battery range and temperature: In colder temperatures, some owners have noticed that the battery range reads lower and they cannot use Max Battery mode, with the car sometimes limiting power to around 15% instead of the standard 40%. This issue could be related to the battery's performance in cold weather.
- iDrive infotainment system: Early models of the 5 Series, including the 530e, have experienced malfunctions in the iDrive infotainment system, rendering the stereo, heating, and phone controls useless. This issue is a known fault and might be best addressed by a BMW specialist.
- Fuel injector defects: 525i and 530i models with the N53 petrol engine are known to have injector defects, which can cause rough idling, poor mileage, and unusual RPMs.
- Transmission fluid leaks: Transmission fluid leaks are a known issue in the BMW 5 Series, and repairs cost £101.00 on average when booked through WhoCanFixMyCar.
- Suspension issues: Suspension problems, such as the car pulling to one side, reduced ride comfort, squeaking noises, difficulty steering, and one corner of the vehicle sitting lower than the others, are common in the BMW 5 Series.
- Tire leaks: Run-flat tires, which were fitted to most 5 Series models as standard, are known for leaking air. They are expensive to replace, and it can be hard to tell whether they are leaking from just an inspection and test drive when buying second-hand.
- Electrical issues: Electrical problems, such as the engine complaining that the passenger seatbelt is not buckled despite nobody sitting there, are common in the 530e.
These issues do not necessarily mean that the BMW 530e is an unreliable vehicle. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider the costs and inconvenience associated with addressing them.
