2019 Acura Tlx problems

The Acura TLX is a four-door entry-level luxury sedan sold by Acura, a luxury division of Honda, since 2014. It is the successor to both the TL and TSX models. As of 2021, the discontinuation of the RLX leaves the TLX as the flagship sedan in Acura's lineup.
Design history
The Acura TLX was first shown as the "TLX Prototype", a sedan designed in Acura's Los Angeles Design Studio, as a replacement of the TL and TSX sedans. The production version was unveiled in April at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. Sales began in August, the TLX entered production during July at Marysville, Ohio, United States.
First generation (UB1/UB2/UB3/UB4; 2015)
Two powertrain options are available. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine with direct injection was offered with front-wheel drive only, mated to a dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel steering (P-AWS). This model's chassis code is UB1. The Honda designed dual clutch transmission is the first to use a torque converter, which absorbs transmission gear shift shock, thus reducing NVH. The engine is rated at 206 hp (154 kW; 209 PS) with an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 24 mpg‑US (9.8 L/100 km; 29 mpg‑imp)/35 mpg‑US (6.7 L/100 km; 42 mpg‑imp)/28 mpg‑US (8.4 L/100 km; 34 mpg‑imp) (city/highway/combined) compared to 22 mpg‑US (11 L/100 km; 26 mpg‑imp)/31 mpg‑US (7.6 L/100 km; 37 mpg‑imp)/26 mpg‑US (9.0 L/100 km; 31 mpg‑imp) (city/highway/combined) from the previous TSX. Honda estimates that the six-cylinder model is 1.5 seconds faster from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h).
A 3.5-liter direct injected SOHC VTEC V-6 with cylinder deactivation (VCM) is mated to Honda's first time use of a 9-speed automatic transmission (sourced from ZF), available with either P-AWS or all-wheel drive (SH-AWD). The SH-AWD system uses hydraulic clutches instead of the electromagnetic clutch packs found on the previous TL which significantly cuts weight, size and cost. The engine is rated at 290 hp (216 kW; 294 PS) and front-wheel drive models deliver 21 mpg‑US (11 L/100 km; 25 mpg‑imp)/34 mpg‑US (6.9 L/100 km; 41 mpg‑imp)/25 mpg‑US (9.4 L/100 km; 30 mpg‑imp) (city/highway/combined) while all-wheel drive models are rated at 21 mpg‑US (11 L/100 km; 25 mpg‑imp)/31 mpg‑US (7.6 L/100 km; 37 mpg‑imp)/25 mpg‑US (9.4 L/100 km; 30 mpg‑imp). Model codes are UB2 for the front-wheel drive and UB3 for the SH-AWD, which comes standard with a "Technology Package". TLX models configured with the V6 engine lose nearly 150 lb (68 kg) compared to the FWD TL, and over 225 lb (102 kg) compared to the SH-AWD TL.
Overall length compared to the previous TL was reduced by 3.8 inches (97 mm) while the wheelbase maintains the same length. As with the ninth-generation Accord, the TLX loses the front double wishbone suspension of the TSX and TL in favor of a MacPherson strut arrangement, and loses the TL's all-aluminum front subframe in favor of a lower cost friction stir welded aluminum and steel piece.
To significantly cut down on interior noise, triple door seals are used as well as additional sound insulation.

ENGINE PROBLEM

- VIN: 19UUB3F48KA
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: My engine is starting to make a knocking/ticking noise, related to this recall. Very unuasal for a car with 65K miles. My local Acura dealers continue to tell me their waiting on parts??? Both recalls are almost 1 years old. How long should a consumer wait for a known manufacturers defect?
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-05
- VIN: 19UUB1F67KA
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: Driving on the hwy on left most lane, car started jerking when accelerating and slowing when hitting the accelerator. Check engine light blinks on and off while this is happening. Scary and terrifying moment on the hwy, was able to get into emergency lane and slowly get car off hwy into parking lot. Got the car towed to Acura, they ran "diagnostics" and could not replicate the problem or even find the check engine code. They recommended 7 items of which some were complete nonsense and upselling instead of finding the solution to dangerous problem. Seems like the fuel pump issue and they won't confirm anything. Saying I need at oil change with 40% left on indicator, tire rotation, ac filter, and other non sense upsells instead of finding the problem that almost caused accident. Acura dealership had no clue when fuel pump part will come in and I have no other vehicle. NHTSA needs to fine Acura and tell them to stop selling new cars and fix the 2.5 million on the road today with problem. Need help on this!

- Summary: 2019 Acura TLX 28k miles - was slowing pulling into a parking spot in a parking garage downtown San Diego. Suddenly the car had no brakes while pressing the brake pedal to the floor with no resistance from the brakes, the car start revving hard and accelerating very fast. I stopped by hitting a brick barrier. Steering wheel and knee airbags deployed. Fortunately I arrived at work early that day and did not hit anyone or any other cars. Our Insurance company USAA said they can not repair the car. The automatic emergency equipment did not kick in either. Acura was advised of the issue case number [XXX]. Fortunately my injuries were minor cuts and bruising but if this incident had happened somewhere else it could have resulted in loss of life. ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-07
- VIN: 19UUB2F47KA
- Components: ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I received two recalls and multiple notices saying the parts are not available for the recall. Over 6 months later I receive a notice the parts are finally available. I tried to make an appointment with my local dealer and was told they will not repair unless the check engine light is on. If what happens in the recall (fire, crash or injury), how will I be able to get the check engine light to come on? I'm afraid to drive the car because I don't want to be stranded, plus I don't want the car to catch fire, cause a crash or be injured. Why isn't Honda/Acura making the parts to correct this problem and why is the dealer not complying with the recall notices I'm receiving? On the Acura recall website, when I enter my VPN, it notes to please take immediate action to have your vehicle repaired but the dealer won't do it! As I'm looking at the additional details below...it appears that a fire, crash or injury needs to happen. Unbelievable!

Each time I call for an inspection, I get told there is nothing they can do. I ask about seeking legal advice and they just tell me they don’t have a remedy so a lawyer can not help me.

I have gotten no response from the Acura dealer other than to say that I can pay for the inspection and be reimbursed if there is a problem. But if there is no problem, I will be out the cost of it. I paid 40,000.00 for a car that has 7500 miles on it and I am afraid to let my wife or son drive it. If I don't get some sort of response soon, I will just file a lemon law claim as the car is useless until it's inspected, and no, i'm not going to pay for that.

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with the 2019 TLX 2.4l base with 24,000 miles that I purchased for $25,000 in July 2021. I think it's important to note that this car is a great value luxury car, and it's not intended to compete with BMW, Audi, or Mercedes. I previously owned a 2001 Integra GSR, and this car is bringing back memories. The 4 banger is great and brings back the joys of vtec. The power is higher in the rev band, and I'm getting 30-33 mpg's in sport mode. The 8-speed transmission is great and finds the right gears. The car is quite nimble, and the seats are ridiculously comfortable. The cabin fits my 6'0 240lb frame nicely, and the backseat can fit adults ok, but anyone over 6 foot may be uncomfortable. The car has some features that would significantly raise the price of a German car. Also, a Honda is going to be more reliable and cheaper to maintain than a German car. My one gripe is that I had to remove my 4 6.5I've always believed that you can get better sound quality for a cheaper price with aftermarket brands like Kicker, JBL, and JL, rather than going for Bose, Beats, or ELS. While factory upgraded systems are good, many Silverado owners have replaced their Bose system for better sound quality. It's better to save your money and get an aftermarket system installed by a professional. You'll get better sound quality and probably save around $1,000. Android audio is also great, as I can easily plug in my phone and use Google Maps on the big screen. In conclusion, the base model offers a better transmission than the six-cylinder, over 30mpg, a car that is still quick, and a lot of safety and convenience features. If you have the money, you can always go for a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, or Lexus. However, if you want an amazing car that is reliable (as good as Lexus) and saves you an extra $7500, then Acura is the way to go. The Acura will probably outlast the German turbos, and I can only imagine the repair bill for a BMW.

This car is absolutely stunning! I adore the overall shape and design of the new front grill. The engine under the hood is fantastic, especially the V6 which provides plenty of power in sport mode. When I'm in the mood for a more relaxed drive, I switch to econ mode and turn on the adaptive cruise control to enjoy the ride. The adaptive cruise control is my favorite feature - it saves me from constantly accelerating and braking in bumper to bumper traffic by slowing down based on the car in front of me. The safety features are also amazing. If I don't brake in time, I get a warning that flashes up on the screen, and if I still don't stop, it stops for me (I accidentally tested this out - it works but wouldn't try it on purpose). The android auto is incredibly intuitive and allows me to do multiple functions at once, like listening to music and navigation. I even get text messages up on the screen while I'm driving, which prevents me from even thinking about pulling out my phone. Google assistant works with android auto as well!! Some people complain about the dual screens, but I personally have not had an issue with them. Android auto and navigation shows up on the top screen, while music and temperature control options are on the bottom screen. It's really nice having the two screens so you can see both navigation and music details at the same time. The car also has two settings for driver seat placement - so my seat is automatically adjusted to my personal settings when I get in. (though it would be nice if the steering wheel would do the same thing - so now that's what we battle over). Overall, I absolutely adore this car!! Update: I've now had this car for over a year and still LOVE every bit of what I wrote initially! The only minor issue I've noticed is that the shifting can be a bit jerky at around 35mph, but it's a small price to pay for such an amazing car.Hi there! I'm not entirely sure if this is due to the 9 speed or if there's something else going on, but I wanted to share my experience. I've actually read other reviews from people who had a similar issue.

My 04 TL has 208,000 original miles and it's still going strong. I recently traded in my 13 Accord Sport with 88,000 miles, which was a great car for the money. However, I wanted to go back to Acura because even though the Accord was a newer car, the fit and finish of the Acura was way better. The Honda felt lighter and not as solid. I absolutely love all the standard features of the A-Spec, especially the V6 power. It's not a 4 cylinder turbo, which seems to be the new thing now. The car feels very solid when driving over bumps, and the sound of the engine exhaust is amazing. The red leather seats are beautiful and feel like they will last more than 10 years of use. The sound system is excellent, and I really appreciate the ambient lighting and beautiful LED lights with the yellow amber eyebrow lights. The Navi system is very easy to use, and the SH-awd around the curves or exit ramps is very planted. The only cons are that the gas mileage is not very good, and I hate the automatic engine shut off. I have to disengage it every time I start the car or every time I open the door while backing up, for instance, so I can see the curb while parking. It automatically puts the car in park, which can be annoying. Also, the ventilated seats are not super cold like the Lexus seats. There are so many things I still need to read about this car, but the bottom line is that I still love it and I'm happy to be with Acura again. So, shop around and try to get a good price. The AWD option is a must-have, even if you don't get an A-Spec model. It changes the driving dynamics of the car for the better. Update 3 years later, with 68,000 miles, I have had zero problems. I still love the V6, and I appreciate that there's no gas cap. I was unhappy with the 2019 RDX 2.0 with electrical problems and transmission reviews, so I'm a bit leery with the 21 TLX. I will wait for the Type-S V6 and for owners' comments on edmunds.com.

On a scale of 1-5, I would give this car a 4.5. The vehicle performs remarkably well overall. The new exterior body is alluring, while the safety and creature comforts surround you and cater to your every desire, all at an impressive price point. The interior is an extension of yourself, ergonomically adept and comfortable, with an array of technological features that any respectable geek would approve of. Although there was a slight hint of road noise, the ride is acceptable, but not as smooth as I would expect. The GPS system could be more user-friendly for the driver. Overall, it is a very smart design, well thought out, fun to drive and look at. You cannot go wrong with this car in its price range against any other car in its class. I can see myself enjoying this car for years to come, and so could you.

When the TLX was first released in 2015, I had my doubts about its longevity. However, the 2019 model year has proven me wrong, with sales skyrocketing. And it's no wonder why - for just 33 grand, you can enjoy leather seats, dual-zone A/C, an impressive infotainment system, and 206 horsepower. For an additional $6400, you can upgrade to the A-spec pack, which adds an extra 84 horses and enhances the car even further. While the A-spec pack may be appealing to some, it's not necessary for everyone. The package simply adds a sporty touch with black paint and A-spec stickers. And while the extra power may be tempting, the TLX's standard 206 horses are more than enough for daily commutes and even outrunning the police. Unless you're a thrill-seeker, the 206hp TLX is the perfect choice for anyone seeking a stylish yet sensible car that won't attract unwanted attention. You'll love it!

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with our Acura. We've been a Honda family for the past two decades and are now on our second Acura. We leased a 2019 A-Spec V6 AWD and it looks great and is comfortable to drive. However, we've noticed that the car begins to shake when we hit 65 plus. We've taken it to the dealer and they've replaced the tires and front axles, but unfortunately, the problem still exists. Acura calls this a 'normal characteristic' of the car, but after doing some research, I've found that there may be an issue with the subframe. I understand that many consumers have had this issue and Acura has not yet addressed it. I would advise caution until they remedy the issue. Unfortunately, I am now stuck with a hefty payment for the next 32 months. I hope my experience can help you make an informed decision and find a car that suits your needs better. Take care!

Hello, I hope this message finds you well. I have been a loyal Acura customer for the past 19 years and have owned 7 cars, including a few TSX and TL's and TLX. I am writing to you today because I am experiencing an issue with the paint on my 2019 TLX, San Marino Red. I have noticed spots that seem to be permanently stuck to the surface, and despite attempts by the dealer to buff them out, they are still visible under the paint. The service manager agrees that it must be something in the paint, yet Acura Client Services is claiming that it must be hard water spots. I have another Acura RDX parked next to mine which is cleaned with the same water and cleaning supplies and there is no issue. I also never had an issue with previous cars. I understand that issues can arise, but I am disappointed that Acura Client Services is not taking my concerns seriously. I feel that something was missed at the factory and I am concerned about the quality of my vehicle. I was also missing a part to hold the back folding seat in place, which is concerning. I have always stood behind Acura in the past, but I am disappointed in the lack of customer service and failure to do the right thing for the customer. I hope that we can work together to find a solution to this issue. Thank you for your time and attention.

The front driver's seat dimensions are not suitable for most Asians, particularly females, making it uncomfortable. However, I am confident that this issue can be resolved to ensure a more comfortable driving experience. While I may have some regrets about purchasing this car, I am optimistic that this problem can be addressed.

The car did not meet my expectations and I found it uncomfortable to get in and out of. I have previously owned Accura TL's and found them to be superior. The ride was quite hard and I experienced discomfort while driving over bumps. I decided to trade it in after owning it for 4 months. Additionally, I found the heat to be too intense and the radio to be subpar for an upscale car. I would recommend exploring other car options before making a purchase.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my thoughts on the 2018 TLX. While the new grille looks great, I noticed that some of the safety features and display on the audio system haven't been updated since the 2015 model. Additionally, it seems that the ability to choose different driving modes has been removed. Just thought I'd share my observations with you!
