    We purchased our TX90T8 for $84k about a year ago, but unfortunately, we've had some issues with it. We've had to take it to the shop twice for a total of 30 days to fix problems with the hybrid system. The car displayed a message saying 'Hybrid System Failure, take to dealer immediately' both times, and unfortunately, we were out of town on both occasions. The first time, we ran out of gas before we could get it to the dealer, and the car wouldn't restart, so we had to get it towed. The second time, we were lucky enough to have enough gas to get it to the dealer. We also had some trouble with the 'Park Assist' feature, which would intermittently shut off. Our dealer was able to determine that one of the sensors was broken and replaced it. Another time, my wife was driving with the kids when the car suddenly lost all power on the highway. Thankfully, she was able to safely pull over to the curb. She called the dealer, who advised her to 'turn the car off and then turn it back on', which worked. Overall, it hasn't been the best experience, especially considering we're only a year into owning the car.

    We recently had to replace the entire motor on our 2016 SC 90, which had 60,000 miles but was perfectly maintained. Although we were disappointed, the dealership was sympathetic and Volvo covered the cost of the parts. However, the labor cost us $63,000. We expressed our loyalty to the dealership and Volvo, but unfortunately, they were unable to absorb the labor cost. While we are disappointed, we understand that these things can happen. We have had great experiences with Toyota in the past, and we may consider returning to their reliable vehicles in the future.

Despite the high cost of the vehicle, I have had to deal with numerous software updates, battery replacements, and instrument panel issues.     I've had my Volvo since February and unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with the software. The internet and voice recognition features have not been working properly and some of the configuration options are not functioning as expected. Additionally, there have been some recalls that have caused some inconvenience, such as the GPS not accurately displaying the correct city. However, I am hopeful that these issues will be resolved soon. I do wish that the auto-engine stop feature could be disabled more easily, but I still find the driving experience to be comfortable overall. I appreciate that Volvo is constantly adding new features, such as Apple CarPlay, but I do hope that they will prioritize fixing any existing software issues before introducing new ones. Despite these challenges, I have enjoyed my time with Volvo and appreciate the quality of their vehicles.

    We purchased our XC90 in June 2015, after trading in our 2013 XC60. It was one of the first models fresh off the assembly line and it is a beautiful car. However, we did experience some issues with it. During the first 6 months, everything was great, but then we had a few incidents. The hood flew open while we were driving, but luckily we were on a city street and only driving 30 miles per hour, so no one was hurt. We had the car towed to the dealer, who identified a faulty hood release and fixed the body work free of charge. We also noticed that the safety system was too sensitive, as the car stopped itself (braking) for no apparent reason twice while in city traffic. The car also had some electronic and braking issues. The brakes started squealing and grinding out of the blue, making the car undrivable at 11k miles. We had to tow it to the dealer, where the front and rear brakes and rotors had to be replaced. While there, we asked that the software be updated, but the dealer had problems with it. Our car was out of service for 2 weeks due to an inability to update the software that controls many features of the car. A week after we picked it up, we took it back because the brake light would not go off and all of the tire sensors were on. It's been there for the last 2 weeks and they are still working on fixing the issues. We believe that Volvo should have done better in testing the car before releasing it to the market. Despite these issues, we have moved on to a lovely Audi. Thank you for reading our experience.

    We've only had our 2016 XC90 for a week, but we already love it! The wife primarily drives it, and we take it on family trips. At first, we weren't even considering a Volvo. We had a 2004 XC90 before, which was okay, but we never really loved it. The size was good, but the handling and MPG were not up to our standards. We downsized to a new 2012 XC60, which was also nice (much better handling and MPG), but it didn't have the same luxury as our previous Mercedes. With two kids, it quickly became too small. We were looking to upsize and considered several 2015/16 vehicles, including the Acura MDX, Range Rover, Porsche Cayenne (too small), Audi Q7, and Mercedes GL. We've always been partial to Mercedes and loved all our prior MB's, so it was looking like that would be our next choice. However, when we took the XC60 to the Volvo dealer for an offer, we saw the new XC90. This vehicle is nothing like the prior XC90. It's easy to see what Volvo has been doing with the $11 billion from Geely. We're not concerned with a Chinese company being the parent owner of Volvo, as the Swedes still design and build the car. These days, many high-end items in the world are owned by someone else. The luxury from the new XC90 is completely on par with the Germans. The Europeans have mastered the art of luxury for years, but they always seem to lag in the technology arena. Even when they do offer technology, it's not on the same level as what high-end Japanese autos offer. Not to mention, you'll easily add $10k to the European vehicles with options and still envy what the Japanese models have. The XC90 is a vehicle that excels in both areas. Ours is a fully loaded model (spec'd same as a First Edition), and it doesn't lack in any category. The luxury from the 18-way adjustable (Inscription model) front seats to the perfect balance of Nappa leather, birch wood, and metal accents leaves no doubt that every detail has been thought of.If you happen to come across a glove box that can cool down to 40 degrees in a European car, it will definitely be an expensive option. However, if you need additional USB ports, you can easily solve the problem by using an adapter that gives you two USB ports per outlet. Based on other reviews we read before purchasing, the lack of multiple USB ports seemed to be one of the few complaints people had. If that's the biggest issue with the XC90, then Volvo has definitely succeeded in creating a new iconic flagship for their brand. The all-glass instrument cluster and center stack are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The tablet-like interface is extremely user-friendly and responds instantly, which was a big concern of ours. If you want to test the responsiveness, simply adjust the temperature slide up and down, and it responds as fast as you can move your finger! We're looking forward to the upcoming update that will include Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration. The heads-up display is another great feature that allows you to keep your eyes on the road. The enormous panorama sunroof is something that even backseat and third-row passengers will enjoy. The doors shut with a solid thud that we haven't heard since our last Mercedes. We love every aspect of this vehicle. The drive is outstanding for a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine, especially for a capable 7-passenger SUV. It has better handling and performance than our previous XC60 with an engine twice the size. Although it can't tow as much as the Q7 (the XC90 is rated to tow 5000 lbs) and is not as sporty as the Porsche or BMW, it is certainly a well-balanced mix of comfort, performance, and capability. The cargo space seems endless, especially when compared to more sporty brands. It offers four different driving modes that further enhance your driving experience.Driving this SUV feels like driving a luxury sedan, not a heavy truck or large SUV. As someone who primarily drives a Porsche, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy driving this SUV. Safety is my top priority when purchasing a vehicle for my family, which is why I was originally considering a Mercedes. However, Volvo has proven to be just as capable of building an extremely safe car, as evidenced by the advanced safety features in this vehicle. I won't go over all of them, but I will say that they are impressive and non-intrusive. The lane keeping aid is particularly helpful, gently reminding you when you are veering out of your lane. This feature has made me a more attentive driver overall. If you're in the market for a luxury SUV, I highly recommend checking out the new XC90. It's nothing like any Volvo of years past, and that's a good thing.

    My wife and I recently test drove the Inscription and she absolutely loved it! We currently own a GL450, which is starting to show its age, so we're in the market for a new car. Our dealer was kind enough to let us take the Inscription for an overnight test drive. We were pleasantly surprised by the performance, which exceeded our expectations based on some of the reviews we had read. While the seats were comfortable enough, my wife found the radio and climate controls a bit cumbersome due to the iPad-like technology. However, we're sure that with some practice, we could easily adjust to the controls. The ride quality and steering were both very nice, although my wife did notice that the steering wheel was smaller than what she's used to in her GL. Overall, we were very impressed with the car and it's definitely still in the running. The only minor issue we had was with the climate package on the Inscription, which includes a heated windshield. It took some getting used to, as the vertical wires running through the glass made it feel like we were looking through a screen door. However, this is not a deal breaker for us and we're still considering the Inscription.

    It looks fantastic inside and out and has wonderful features including safety - Volvo's namesake. The interior is truly wonderful. We almost bought it. However, the technology can be a bit tricky to use with its wonky touch pad and multiple screens. Additionally, the 4-cylinder engine is a bit buzzier compared to the smoother 6-cylinder options of its competitors. Lastly, the dealership experience may not be on par with other European options in terms of service. Overall, it's a great car with some minor drawbacks.

    Hey there! I just wanted to share my initial experience with the car and it's overwhelmingly positive! I've put about 1000 miles on the SUV so far, with about 75% of the mileage coming from local driving - commuting to/from work, driving kids to school and other places, etc. While I haven't taken a long trip or pushed the car to its limits yet, I still wanted to share my thoughts with current and future Volvo owners. Maybe we can start with some areas for improvement? For example, the Sensus Touch Screen technology is awesome, but it can also be difficult to master. In the 2016 XC90, the central touch screen has 3 views to slide from left and right, plus a “car setting” view that is pulled from the top. The screen navigation can be complicated, and even after two weeks, I still have trouble remembering how to get to certain settings. As someone who considers myself a techie and quite adept at picking up new things, the Volvo central control proved that I am not as smart as I thought I was! Another area for improvement is the key fab. While it’s a classy design with leather wrapped around the bulk of the surface area, the function buttons are located on either side and can be difficult to press and even more difficult to feel which is “lock” or “unlock”. My key fab leather is blonde, matching the car’s interior, but being in my pocket and rubbing against other stuff all the time isn’t the formula to keep the key fab clean. The key fab frame is aluminum, and my key has received a couple of small dents on the frame so far. Volvo, if you are reading this, please make the frame stainless steel. The aluminum frame doesn’t match the leather wrap nor the $80K car price tag. On a positive note, my T8 comes with the vision package, which is a great value and a must-have in my opinion. I especially love the synthesized bird's eye view of the car, and I find it much more useful than park assist. Thanks for reading!When equipped with the overview camera, I personally don't have any trouble maneuvering the car, whether it's parallel parking or backing up. While park assist can be useful for many, I found it to react slowly and reverted to faster manual parking after only a couple of tries. However, I must say that park assist did work quite well when I used it. The bird's eye view image can become wonky when other tall objects are nearby, which is perhaps the only downside of the vision package. Nevertheless, I believe this can be corrected via a software algorithm, and I hope Volvo has a future software update for this. The voice recognition works about 80-85% of the time, which may seem high, but in day-to-day usage, it is not very dependable. Volvo obviously has some catching up to do with Google and others in the voice recognition domain. It's worth noting that there is only one USB port and no SD card slot, which can be a major inconvenience for owners in this connected era. I have to keep swapping between my phone, USB stick, and passengers' phones. Despite these drawbacks, there is a lot to love about the XC90 T8. First and foremost, it is quiet and smooth. The twin engine combo has far exceeded my expectations, and the transition between the electric and gas engine is so seamless that I often fail to notice the switch taking place. Thanks to the hybrid powertrain, the car starts with the electric engine with zero noise, and the gas engine kicks in when more power is needed or cruising at high speed. The result? No 4-cylinder whining at low gear. The start/stop also works fabulously well in the T8. In many ways, the car waltzes around with V8-like grace, smoothness, and tranquility.Not only do the twin engines work well together, but the regenerative and mechanical braking systems also work in perfect harmony. It would be difficult for any non-racing driver to tell which braking system is at work without checking the dashboard. As the car is still breaking in, I have to be gentle on the throttle and haven't yet verified the 5.3 seconds from 0-60 mph. However, the XC90 T8 has plenty of power at the low end and cruises effortlessly with five people on board. With a gentle push on the gas pedal, freeway overtaking is a breeze. The 400 horsepower brings about a reassuring feeling. While I won't use it every time when taking the freeway on-ramp, I know all the power is there to haul the heavy SUV when I need it. In my opinion, Volvo's touch screen beats those of Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Lexus, except for Tesla which I haven't used. The screen is clear under direct sunlight and responsive to inputs. It may be prone to fingerprints, but a courtesy protective screen cover and mic can help with that.

    I am the proud owner of a brand new 2016 XC 90 T8 Hybrid. As many reviews have stated, it is an amazing car! The exterior styling is beautiful and the interior is smartly designed. The T8 Hybrid is the perfect combination of Eco mode (electric) for short trips and power mode (gas) for longer trips, making it a very fuel-efficient engine. The power is stunning, with almost 400 HP from a 4 cylinder and electric motor (not quite Tesla, but at a better price point).
