Common 2018 Volvo V60cc problems
The Volvo V60CC 2018 has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to software issues, suspension, and automatic emergency braking (AEB) system.
Firstly, there have been reports of a software issue with the vehicle connectivity module (VCM) that sends location information to the emergency services after a collision. This issue affects cars constructed between 26 September 2018 and 30 October 2018, and can be fixed with a software update from any Volvo dealer.
Secondly, there have been instances of loose nuts and screws on the rear suspension of V60s made between 25 September 2018 and 1 April 2019. If your car is affected, contact your local dealer, who will check the tightness of the bolts and replace them if necessary.
Thirdly, the AEB system, which is designed to apply the brakes when the forward collision sensors detect an imminent collision, might not function correctly. A software update is required to resolve this issue, and it affects V60, S90, V90, XC40, XC60, and XC90 models built after 21 January 2019. The fix can be completed by any Volvo dealer, and owners should have been contacted regarding this.
Lastly, there have been issues with the installation of a part of the supplementary restrain system fitted to V60s made between 10-22 September 2020. If your car is affected, it will need to be checked over by a technician at a Volvo dealer.
In addition to these specific issues, the Volvo V60 has been reported to have some common trouble spots in general, including non-engine electrics and the sat-nav/infotainment system, which accounted for 9.1% of complaints each. Following that was interior trim, of which 6.1% of V60/S60 owners in a survey cited as something they'd experienced issues with.
As a car brand, Volvo ranked ninth out of 32 manufacturers in terms of overall reliability, with a score of 93.7%, making it a more reliable brand than Mercedes and Porsche, but less reliable than Lexus.
It is important to note that these issues are based on reported problems and may not affect all Volvo V60CC 2018 models. When considering purchasing a used car, it is always advisable to follow a thorough used car buying checklist, including checking for bodywork damage, alloy wheel kerbs, and light-coloured trim options that might start to look grubby if not kept clean.
