- Summary: The last few months my schedule changed and I'm driving in the dark now. The auto dimming mirror does not function as expected, it is too slow in response to prevent glare and blinding from vehicles behind me. By the time the mirror decides to dim I'm already blinded from the glare and can no longer see what is in front of me. Also, since it does not dim to the edge I still get blinded from the glare around the perimeter of the mirror (there is no way to adjust this to prevent it). Since this mirror is also "rimless" (no plastic cover on the edge) the polished edge causes light refraction thereby blinding me in daylight. Currently the only way to prevent glare from the mirror is point it down to the floor rendering useless and dangerous.

- Summary: red power steering system light turned on and flashed/beeped 3X. steering wheel locked up and I could not turn. I was on the freeway in the far right lane and managed to force push the steering wheel to the right and slowly merge over to the shoulder. Volks in Kearny Mesa confirmed issue with steering gear after inspection on 6/21/2022. The steering gear needs to be replaced as the first step. No symptoms prior to malfunction. I could have died if I was in any other lane as there was a lot of cars on the freeway. I got lucky.

- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2021 Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan LWB, Jetta NF, Jetta GLI, Golf GTI, Atlas FL and Arteon vehicles. The rear view camera could malfunction during an ignition cycle, leading to a black screen or infotainment system freeze. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Consequence: A black or frozen rear view image reduces the driver's visibility when reversing, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will update the infotainment system software, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2020. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 91BB/91BC.

Excellent car. Great gas mileage getting 42 mpg on the highway. Engine and transmission are excellent. When driving, it feels like a much bigger engine. Had the car one year - no problems at all. The car is dependable, reliable and solid. UPDATE: Excellent car. It is fast, smooth shifting and quiet.

This Volkswagen Golf Hatchback with its 1.8T engine is still considered the best and most reliable model ever. I have been maintaining it regularly and it has run 15K since May 2018. It is flawless, quiet, smartly spacious and a pleasure to drive. This is actually my second Golf after the 2015 model. Even though my family drives BMW, Honda HR-V and Ford Escape, everyone wants to drive my Golf and they love how smooth it is. I will add more reviews after I drive 20k, as and when that happens.

I have a white SE with a six-speed manual. It's a pocket rocket! I find myself doing 80 on the interstate without realizing it, and it's ready to go at the green light. At 6'2, I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing leg and headroom. While I'm not sure about the gas mileage, I do know it's on par with my last car, a Corolla. The voice recognition for the infotainment system can be frustrating, but overall, the interior is perfect. The only downside is the wide B-pillar and the center armrest. All in all, I absolutely love this car!

I bought this car brand new and I absolutely love how it looks and drives. However, I have had a few issues with it and it has been in the shop 8 times in the 11 months that I've owned it. Unfortunately, it has left me stranded twice which is not something I would expect from a new car. Despite these issues, I am still very fond of the car and I am hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon.

I have a 2019 Golf S 1.4l turbo with a 6-speed manual transmission and it currently has 26,000 miles. I use it as a commuter, driving 160 miles every 3rd day on the highway at 65-70mph. I'm happy to report that the fuel mileage, calculated not from the dash readings, is consistently between 39-42 mpg. Although I have not made any modifications to the car, I have had to take it back to the dealer 5 times for emissions issues. They have replaced the same O2 sensor twice, the charcoal canister twice, and the n90 valve. The most recent visit (5/20/21) involved resetting the engine management system per a VW tech bulletin and replacing a belt tensioner pulley that was causing a squeaking noise. While I'm keeping my fingers crossed, I'm not holding my breath. Despite these issues, I really like having the convenience of a hatchback and a manual transmission. However, the check engine light coming on every 3,000-5,000 miles has made me lose faith in this car. I'm considering trading it for a non-VW product, but I still have the balance of the 6-year/72,000-mile warranty. The repairs have always taken 1-2 days due to waiting on parts. This last visit, the replacement of the squeaking belt tensioner pulley delayed the repairs by an extra day. I bought this car new with hopes that it would carry me through until I retire in 2 years, but I'm having reservations.
