I've only put about 1,200 miles on this car, but I absolutely love it so far! It's a very competent and pleasant driver, especially as a 6-speed manual. The cargo space is decent, and the interior is tasteful with many thoughtful touches. The exterior is elegant and sporty, and the MPG is much better than advertised! I feel like this car checks off all my boxes. At the SE trim level I purchased, I only miss having a memory function for the driver's seat, but that's really my only gripe. The stereo sounds good, road noise is minimal, and the seats have long-term comfort. It's really just a very competent, well thought through car, and one I can see myself enjoying for years to come! You can have your SUVs, I'll take my all-season sportwagon! UPDATE: I still absolutely love my Alltrack! I'm reminded of how much I prefer driving my VW whenever I have to drive my wife's CX-5. It's a nice enough vehicle, but my Alltrack is so much more engaging. The performance advantages it brings, especially with the manual, and its confidence-inspiring competence really make the entire driving experience better. And I've driven it 1,500 miles in a single day, so I've really been able to test that theory! Just a great little car, and absolutely perfect for me! I have close to 10,000 miles on the clock and I'm ready for many, many more! UPDATE: 17,000 on the clock and still in love! This car does everything I need and does it well. Not one single solitary problem, it's fun to drive... What's not to love?

I've had my Alltrack (with manual transmission) for almost two years now, and it's still a blast to drive. Despite not having the most powerful engine, it has excellent acceleration. I was pleasantly surprised by its fuel consumption, as I easily get around 28 MPG with mostly city driving (driving lightly). In my opinion, the Alltrack is a fantastic combination of a passenger car, utility vehicle, sports car, and off-road-capable vehicle, and it's just the right size. In other words, it offers more than your typical crossover. It's unfortunate that fewer and fewer manufacturers offer such vehicles, especially in the US market. UPDATE: I've had my TSI S 6M for three years now, and after only about 10k miles, the gas mileage keeps improving. I averaged 30 MPG between fill-ups for the first time with mixed city/highway driving. I've had no reliability issues. I'll probably keep it at least until the end of its warranty period (i.e., another 3 years). I strongly recommend this car for people who enjoy driving and like smaller cars with utility, off-road capability, and personality. UPDATE: I still enjoy driving the stick shift after four years. Gas mileage continues to improve, although in very small increments. It's a great all-round car. I'll keep it a little longer...

I purchased my VW Alltrack SE with the DSG dual-clutch transmission in May 2017 and have had absolutely no issues, which is exactly what I expected from a car with this mileage. I adore the build quality both inside and outside of this vehicle. From the hood closing to the gas fill access cover, everything is very solid! This car is a real heavyweight champion. It's quick, and the handling is precise and confident. It's an absolute joy to drive! Some of the other reviews have complained about interior space, but as an average height person, I find the interior to be quite spacious. I can sit comfortably in the rear seat, and there is plenty of headroom. I love the full-length sunroof! Fuel economy isn't the best, but it beats the Subaru 3.6R and the Volvo wagons. I test drove the Subaru Outback with the 3.6L engine, and the Alltrack beats it in all aspects! One reviewer on this site complained about the AWD system on the Alltrack, reporting an inability to move on flat, icy terrain. However, I believe that person must be a plant for the Subie crowd. I've owned Subarus, and their system is good. But I also know from experience that the 4Motion AWD system works very, very well. I frequently drive to a local ski area with an 8% grade the whole way up, ice, and some deep snow on the roads at times, and I've had no problems, even with the factory tires! 4Motion is an excellent system! The Fender sound system paired with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capable interface is awesome! Going from the car to the phone while talking on the phone is seamless. Storage is ample and easy to access. The roof rails are really a pleasure to use. The Outback's roof rails are cumbersome and limiting, which is one of the reasons I chose VW over Subie. The only complaint I have is the difficult-to-reach USB port and the lack of other USB ports. But, that's it. I plan to keep this car until it dies. If some of you are right, my Alltrack might die before a Subie would, but I'll have a lot more fun in the meantime! Don't buy a Subie until you test drive the Alltrack.You won't be disappointed.

I purchased my 2018 Alltrack SE in May 2022 with 7774 miles. It has been three months since then, and I have driven almost 11000 miles. I must say, it has been a great experience so far. As a tall and heavy person, I find the driver's seat very comfortable. The only minor issue I have is that I cannot rest my elbow on the window sill when the driver's door window is open. The Apple Carplay is user-friendly, and the panoramic sunroof is fantastic. The air conditioning works great, even in the hot Virginia summer. The leatherette upholstery is easy to clean, especially after my dogs have been in the car. The car's overall MPG has been around 27, which is not the best but far from the worst. The car's spacious back allows me to carry a lot of stuff, making it a perfect car for an old guy like me. I love the sound system!

However, there are many other vehicles in the same price range with more room and proven technology that may be worth considering.

Although the name may suggest otherwise, I found this AWD to be quite disappointing. It struggles on steep grades and in icy conditions, making it less than ideal for those situations. Even with studded snow tires and the AWD system in off-road mode with traction control disabled, the car still couldn't move forward or backward on flat, icy ground. Additionally, if you're over 6'0

I was really hoping to like the VW Alltrack, especially since we've had such good experiences with the VW Passat and Passat Wagon - we've owned multiple of those as well. Unfortunately, while the Alltrack looks great from the outside, handles well, and seems like it would be fun to drive, it falls short in a few key areas. The primary issue is the lack of space in both the front and rear seats, as well as the cargo department. Taller drivers will especially struggle with the limited foot movement due to the steering wheel column. We really enjoyed having the Passat Wagon and we hope that VW will reconsider bringing it back to the US, or redesign the Alltrack with more space to address the growing segment of the market.
