The Toyota RAV4 (Japanese: トヨタ・RAV4, Hepburn: Toyota Ravufō) is a compact crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. It is known for starting the wave of compact crossovers.

It made its debut in Japan and Europe in 1994, and in North America in 1995, being launched in January 1996. The vehicle was designed for consumers wanting a vehicle that had most of the benefits of SUVs, such as increased cargo room, higher visibility, and the option of full-time four-wheel drive, along with the manoeuvrability and fuel economy of a compact car. The vehicle's name is an abbreviation of "Recreational Active Vehicle with 4-wheel drive", or "Robust Accurate Vehicle with 4-wheel drive", although not all models come equipped with the four-wheel drive system.

For the third-generation model, Toyota offered both short- and long-wheelbase versions of the RAV4. Short-wheelbase versions were sold in Japan and Europe; long-wheelbase versions in Australia and North America. Toyota of Japan also sold the longer-wheelbase version as the Toyota Vanguard (Japanese: トヨタ・ヴァンガード, Hepburn: Toyota Vangādo) at Toyopet Store dealership chain from 2005 through 2016. RAV4 for the Japanese market were sold at two different Toyota dealership chains, Corolla Store and Netz.

In 2019, the RAV4 was the best-selling SUV of any type in the world, and the fourth best-selling passenger car overall. North America is the largest market, with 535,000 units sold in 2019, followed by Europe (133,000) and China (127,000). By February 2020, a total of 10 million RAV4s had been sold globally.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-08-17
  • VIN: JTMBD31V865
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I notified Toyota of an issue with my car a couple years ago. One day I came out to find my car missing big portions of paint (it had been a windy night); all of the paint in the attached photos came off in a single night and day, which is not normal paint performance. I came to find out that other years for the same make and model had a recall program for "pearl white paint". The issue seemed to be affecting my vehicle too. With large portions of paint peeling freely of the body of my vehicle, it began to rust. Rust eroding the structure of a vehicle can make the car unsafe for drivers and passengers. In an accident situation, the structure of the vehicle may be compromised by the rust, leading to more severe harm to occupants. Additionally, if the roof of the car is compromised, moisture could leak into the interior systems and cabin space, leading to other hazards, with potentially severely harmful outcomes. Toyotas response to the photos, report from the dealership, and BBB complaint I filed was: "your vehicle has not been identified as one of the vehicles impacted by the pearl white paint issue". Therefore, I had to pay to repaint my whole vehicle out of pocket. It was clear from the pictures and report that the paint issue was directly affecting my vehicle, but Toyota refused to acknowledge this and rectify the hazard.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-02-21
  • VIN: JTMBD33V465
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: Two days ago my car was driving perfectly on the highway. The oil pressure light turned on I turned off the highway immediately and put more oil in the car. At this point my car is consuming over a quart every week and I don't drive more than a couple of hundred miles every week. I've taken several longer trips with this car. I started the car back up after checking the oil level, started driving and the light didn't come back on. About 10 more miles down the road on the highway the oil pressure light the check engine light vsc light the four-wheel drive light appear. I go to an AutoZone and I get a code p0012. I've done lots of research and I've learned that this is all related to Toyota's well-known defective design and manufacturing of their engines. I have a 2az Fe engine. I bought this car with 125,000 miles on it in 2020. It now has about 154,000 mi on it. I didn't know that the oil consumption was extreme until this point of research. Now my car is making a rattling sound most likely the engine needs to be replaced. Technically yes I can drive it but it will stall and probably light on fire if I do and this is dangerous. They had a TSB warranty extension in 2016 I believe. I did not own the car that time nor do I know if that car was even subjected to the extension notice. But it is well known engine can do this and the Pistons fail around this mileage that my car has. It's out of warranty but I'm reading everywhere people having problems with this year's car and the other cars with this engine right now. There's a whole group of engines that are starting to fail because of these poorly designed Pistons that can affect oil leakage. Not only wasting a precious resource but causing a very dangerous situation for drivers. This should be addressed by Toyota still I want them to fix my engine or replace it before I cause an accident that can lead to death. I'm choosing to not drive it right now but I don't have the luxury of a second car. I may have to drive it.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-03-29
  • VIN: jtmzd33v366
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: 2006 Toyota Rav4 with 2.4 liter engine burning oil rapidly. Burning approximately 4 quarts of oil in 3,000 miles. Vehicle currently has 100,000 miles. Issue persists even though I maintain routine maintenance on the vehicle. Luckily no safety hazards have occurred yet, but there is a high risk for potential safety hazard. Vehicle has been inspected by 3 different mechanics. I have been told by 3 different mechanics that this is a common issue for cars with this year/engine. About 2,800 miles after high synthetic oil change the vehicle begins to sound like it is struggling to accelerate at low speeds and the check engine oil light will briefly turn on at random then go away. Light does not stay lit or continuously flicker.

  • VIN: JTMBK33VX65
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: The rear subframe in my '06 Toyota RAV4 has rusted through. This is a key structural part of the vehicle, all of the rear suspension components attach to this subframe, so it's concerning to see the integrity of the subframe completely compromised. The component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps or symptoms of the failure. I happened to be under the car checking out an issue with a heat shield when I happened to notice the frame condition.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-04-28
  • VIN: JTMBD33V265
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: This 2006 Rav4 engine is known for its massive oil consumption due to the faulty piston rings. Always kept oil in it and had regular changes because of this issue. Checked the oil 2 days prior to the engine failure, and all was well. Driving down the hwy going around 70mph, the engine started to lose power and sound funny (high rpm sounds with no power), so I took my foot off the gas and coasted for a few seconds. Down to 50mph, I hit the gas pedal, and then a loud BOOM happened and car shook. Smoke from the engine, and then all the dash lights came on. Lost all power. Looked under the engine and a piston had blown a hole through the bottom of it. Needs new engine now. Mechanic inspected it and they documented with a picture. Thankfully I was not injured as that could have caused a serious wreck, especially if there was someone behind me. I've read about these engines being blown regularly online. Even some before 100k miles. No warnings before this happened.

THIS COMMON TO MOST RAV4, DEALERSHIP IT'S NORMAL BUT TO ME IT DOESN'T FELL NORMAL WHEN I'M DRIVING, IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS WILL COME OUT OR BROKE OFF. KIND OF SCARY THING TO FEEL WHEN DRIVING. UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2019-05-01
  • VIN: JTMZD33V865
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
  • Summary: THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING OIL CONSUMPTION. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THEY FILLED UP THE OIL AND TOLD ME TO COME BACK AFTER 3000 MILES BUT TO NOT FILL THE OIL. HALFWAY IN, THE OIL WAS COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED. BECAUSE IT HAD NOT BEEN 3000 MILES, I COULD NOT TAKE IT BACK FOR A FIX. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO ADD OIL OR THE ENGINE BLOWS. WHEN I DID TAKE IT BACK, I WAS GIVEN THE RESPONSE THAT THE VEHICLE BURNS A NORMAL AMOUNT OF OIL AND I TOLD THEM I HAD TO FILL IT IN BETWEEN TO AVOID THE ENGINE BLOWING. THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE RECALL. I CONTACTED TOYOTA WHO ALSO REFUSED TO FIX THE RECALL BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP HAD WRITTEN "NORMAL" CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE BURNS OIL AT A VERY RAPID RATE AND I WOULD LIKE THIS RECALL PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-02-19
  • VIN: JTMZD33V766
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: HAD MY 2006 TOYOTA RAV 4 IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL SERVICES. I ALSO HAD RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE TUNEUP AND BRAKE FLUID DRAIN AND REFILL. WHEN I LEFT THE PARKING LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP, I CROSSED 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC, BRAKED, WAITED FOR ALTERNATE TRAFFIC TO PASS BEFORE TURNING ONTO THE CITY STREET WITH MY FOOT STILL ON BRAKE, THE CAR ACCELERATED, LURCHED THEN ACCELERATED AGAIN WITHOUT ME PRESSING ON THE GAS AND CONTINUING TO BRAKE WHEN IT ACCELERATED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY TOWED IT BACK IN. AFTER THEY PERFORMED SEVERAL TESTS AND TEST DRIVE IT THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE SAME THING. THERE WERE TWO PREVIOUS OCCURRENCES THAT I DID NOT REPORT TO THIS ENTITY SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR USED. THEY HAPPENED CLOSE TOGETHER AND NOT AGAIN UNTIL THE MOST RECENT EVENT. I BELIEVE THE PROHIBITIVE COST OF THROTTLE BODY AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL MODULE ($1,519.40) WHICH ARE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS TO ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM AND NOT THE FLOOR MATS, IS WHY THE PREVIOUS OWNER SOLD THE CAR TO ME. NO WARNING FORTHCOMING, EVEN THOUGH I DID ASK.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-02-27
  • VIN: JTMZD32VX65
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL LIKE MAD. I PURCHASED IT THREE WEEKS AGO AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES WHEN I LOOKED AT IT. I HOOKED MY OBD II SCANNER AND NO CODES POPPED, WHICH MADE ME GO AHEAD AND PURCHASE IT. I HEARD ABOUT THE TOYOTA 2AZ-FE ENGINES HAVING OIL ISSUES, BUT THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND. MY MECHANIC CHANGED MY OIL A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AGO AND NOTIFIED ME THAT I WAS A QUART LOW, BUT FILLED IT FOR ME. HE TOLD ME IF I WAS CONCERNED TO MONITOR IT, WHICH I HAVE. TONIGHT, FEBRUARY 27, 2020, I CHECKED MY OIL WHILE IT'S STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY AND HAS NOT BEEN ON FOR OVER FOUR HOURS AND IT'S RIGHT AROUND THE LOW LEVEL LINE. I GOT MY OIL CHANGED AT 163,035 MILES. IT'S NOW LOW AT 163,260 MILES! I'M SCARED AND CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING IT BECAUSE BEING A COLLEGE STUDENT AND WORKING, I WOULD DREAD THAT MY RAV4'S ENGINE BLOWS UP OR SEIZES ON ME OUT OF NO WHERE. PLEASE, THIS ISSUE IS SCARY AND CAN PLACE A LOT OF PEOPLE AND FAMILIES IN DANGER. I CAN PROVIDE PAPERWORK OF THE DAY OF THE OIL CHANGE AND MY ODOMETER. I TOOK A PICTURE OF IT WHICH I WILL ATTACH.

  • VIN: JTMBK31V666
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: WE PURCHASED A 2006 RAV4 LIMITED THE FIRST WEEK OF MARCH 2019. A REAR DIFFERENTIAL COUPLING GROWL NOISE WAS NOTICEABLE A MONTH AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THE REAR END STARTED MAKING A GROWLING NOISE. IN EARLY JANUARY 2015 TOYOTA ISSUED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (ZF4) FOR YEARS 2006-2012 RAV4 TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE BEARING REPLACED, BUT THEY PUT AN EXPIRATION DATE OF APRIL 30TH 2017 OR 9 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF FIRST USE REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW YOU CAN PUT AN EXPIRATION DATE ON A DEFECTIVE PART. THESE BEARINGS COULD GO BAD AND SEIZE AT ANY TIME POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH. WE HAPPEN TO OWN TWO OF THESE VEHICLES, SAME YEARS, ONE MAKING NO NOISE AND NOT GOING BAD YET, BUT THE OTHER DECIDED IT WAS TIME. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS REAR DIFFERENTIAL COUPLING BEARING, NOT A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM. TOYOTA HAS ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGED A DEFECT WITH THE BEARING BY INITIATING A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM, YOU CAN'T JUST SAY AFTER APRIL 30TH 2017 NO OTHER BEARINGS WILL FAIL AND IF THEY DO WE PASS THE BUCK ON THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR HEARING MY CONCERNS, I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING BACK FROM YOU. I WOULD LIKE TO DEBATE THE ISSUE WITH ONE OF THEIR REPRESENTATIVES WITH YOU LISTENING, I'D RIP'EM APART. IT IS TIME THESE BILLION DOLLAR COMPANIES OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKES AND NOT PASS THE BUCK TO THE LITTLE GUY. THANK YOU AGAIN, (XXXX). YOU CAN CONTACT ME AT (XXXX). 2006 Toyota Rav4 recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 11 recalls for different components of the 2006 Toyota Rav4.

2016-08-12
  • Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Components: SUSPENSION:REAR
  • Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2006-2011 Toyota RAV4 vehicles manufactured October 31, 2005, to September 7, 2010, and 2010 Lexus HS250h vehicles manufactured July 6, 2009, to August 26, 2010. The affected vehicles have rear suspension arms (rear tie rods) with adjusting lock nuts that may have been improperly tightened after servicing. As a result of being loose, the arm may have thread damage and may rust, possibly leading to the failure of the arm and an abrupt change in the vehicle's alignment.
  • Consequence: Failure of the rear tie rod could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners and dealers will replace both rear suspension arms and encapsulate the locknuts, free of charge. The recall began on September 30, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are G0V for Toyota vehicles and GLK for Lexus vehicles. Note: This recall supersedes recall 13V-383, in which some vehicles were only inspected, sealed, and did not have both arms replaced. The affected vehicles were previously recalled under 13V-383, but did not have both rear suspension arms replaced at that time. Those vehicles need to have both arms replaced as part of this recall remedy.
2016-06-02
  • Manufacturer: Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC
  • Components: SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER
  • Summary: Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.
  • Consequence: If damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.
2016-02-19
  • Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Components: SEAT BELTS:REAR/OTHER
  • Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 RAV4 vehicles manufactured July 28, 2005, to December 19, 2012, and 2012-2014 RAV4 EV vehicles manufactured July 24, 2012, to August 29, 2014. In the event of a frontal collision, the rear seat belts for the outboard seats may be cut by the seat cushion frame.
  • Consequence: A cut seat belt may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing their risk of injury in a crash.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will install a protector over both rear seat cushion frames, free of charge. The recall began on June 24, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is G0F.
2015-10-22
  • Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Components: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS
  • Summary: Toyota Motor Company (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.
  • Consequence: If the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is C0M.
2014-04-09
  • Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
  • Summary: Toyota is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, 2008-2010 Highlander, and 2009-2010 Tacoma, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and General Motors Pontiac Vibe vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the steering column assembly contains electrical connections to the driver's airbag module housed in a spiral cable assembly, which includes a Flexible Flat Cable (FFC). Due to the shape and location of the FFC's retainer, the FFC could become damaged when the steering wheel is turned.
  • Consequence: If the FFC is damaged, connectivity to the driver's air bag module could be lost and the air bag deactivated. The failure of the driver's air bag to deploy in the event of a crash that typically necessitates deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify the Toyota vehicle owners, and General Motors will notify the Pontiac Vibe owners. Toyota sent owners an interim notification letter in May 2014 to advise owners of the recall. Toyota will mail owners a second letter when remedy parts are available. General Motors sent Pontiac Vibe owners an Interim letter on June 20, 2014 notifying them that parts are currently unavailable. General Motors sent notices to the Pontiac Vibe owners on September 15, 2014, that a remedy is available. The recall began on October 27, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331. Owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-762-2737.
2013-08-28
  • Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Components: SUSPENSION:REAR
  • Summary: Toyota is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2011 RAV4 and 2010 Lexus HS250h passenger vehicles manufactured from October 2005 through September 2010. If the nuts for adjusting the rear wheel alignment are improperly tightened during service, the rear suspension arm (rear tie rod) may develop unwanted movement and rust leading to thread damage and eventual failure. Failure of the rear tie rod will cause an abrupt change in the vehicle's alignment.
  • Consequence: Failure of the rear tie rod could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tie rods and replace any that have rust or corrosion on the alignment adjustment threads. All of the rear tie rods will then be encased in an epoxy to prevent future environmental damage. Due to limitations in parts, the recall remedy will be launched in phases from September 2013 through mid-April 2014. All owners will receive notification of the recall, with most receiving second notifications when parts are available in their area. IMPORTANT: This recall supersedes Toyota and Lexus recall 12V-373. All vehicles that have been inspected and remedied under the previous recall need to be re-inspected and have the appropriate remedy applied.

Negative 2006 Toyota Rav4 car reviews

  1. Finn Kemmer 2025-01-04

I purchased this car brand new from the dealership and they handled all of the maintenance. Unfortunately, the engine blew this year while the car still had under 90,000 miles on it. Despite following the recommended maintenance schedule and never driving the car too hard, I was faced with an estimated repair cost of $6,000 to $7,000. As a 63-year-old female, I was understandably upset. However, after expressing my concerns to the dealership and involving the factory, they ended up covering most of the cost, leaving me with only around $1,500 to pay. While my faith in Toyota has been shaken, I appreciate their efforts to make things right. It's possible that the 2006 model year was affected by the previous management regime's lack of focus on reliability, but I hope that Toyota has since addressed these issues. Just be cautious when making your own car purchasing decisions.

  2. Geovanny Corwin 2024-07-02

The estimated gas mileage is not accurate and there is a noticeable amount of road noise. Additionally, the car seems to dent easily due to the thin metal. We purchased the base model with several extras, including mag wheels, a black luggage rack, 6 airbags, floor mats, and a grocery cargo net. Unfortunately, the spare tire cover has faded quickly and was exchanged once, but has now faded again and is a different color than the car. Despite speaking with the dealership, there seems to be no solution to this issue. As a result, I am quite unhappy with my purchase and do not plan to buy another Toyota product. Other people have even asked me about the mismatched tire cover, which is frustrating.

  3. Richard Predovic 2024-04-11

I recently traded in my 2002 RAV4 for a 2006 model and I'm pleased to say that all the minor issues I had with the previous model have been addressed. Although I do wish it had a bit more power, larger seats that fold flat, and more space (it's almost as big as a Highlander now), I'm confident that I'll be able to put another 148,000 flawless miles on this one, just like I did with my last RAV4. The only thing that would make me consider trading it in before reaching 150,000 miles would be if Toyota came out with a hybrid version. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and think Toyota did a great job.

  4. Trever Wintheiser 2024-01-24

We were thrilled to hear that Toyota was building a V6 RAV4. After owning a 1999 RAV4 L for many years, we were excited for a bigger and more powerful RAV4. Although we couldn't get a good trade-in value for our 1999 RAV4, we decided to keep it, and it turned out to be the best decision we ever made. While the RAV4 with the V6 engine was enjoyable to drive, we had some issues with it. From a whining sound coming from the fuel pump to a grumbling sound caused by the AWD's ECU, we had some problems. We also experienced prematurely failed wheel bearings, a knocking steering wheel column, a rusted-through 'Stainless steel' muffler, failing ignition coils, and leaking oil lines that almost burst. We almost forgot about the premature water pump failure. Additionally, Toyota never fixed the rear suspension problem that could allow the suspension arms to detach. Their solution was to weld the adjustment bolts, which limited our ability to properly align the rear wheels, resulting in uneven wear on tires. We had to spend a lot of money on tires. There were recalls after recalls after recalls. We don't recommend anyone buying this vehicle used. It was the worst and unsafe vehicle we've ever owned, and we used to own an Isuzu Impulse with tons of problems. We didn't expect this from a Toyota and were very disappointed with Toyota Motors Corp for abandoning us. Thankfully, Honda has welcomed us with open arms. We're now driving a Honda Pilot with very few problems. Other than a start button recall, everything has been running smoothly. We used to own three Acura Integras when we were younger. You can't go wrong with Honda. Buy Honda. We happily got rid of the RAV4 a few years ago. We genuinely feel bad for the new owners.

Positive 2006 Toyota Rav4 car reviews

  1. Edgar Hauck 2024-11-16

Great turning radius, great gas mileage, and great room for its class and fuel economy.

  2. Jefferey Kreiger 2024-11-08

The RAV4 Sport is truly a versatile vehicle, combining the features of an SUV, sports car, and practical hauler, all while excelling in snowy conditions. It's been a reliable choice for me, as I haven't experienced any issues since purchasing it.

  3. Samson McCullough 2024-11-07

I had some quality issues with my Toyota, which led me to replace the ECU and water pump. However, despite these efforts, I have experienced an oil issue for the last 25,000 miles and was recently informed that I require a new engine, despite the car having less than 100,000 miles. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend purchasing a Toyota.

  4. Donald Bogisich 2024-10-24

With its head-snapping acceleration, this car is an absolute joy to drive! As someone who is 6'3

  5. George Dietrich 2024-10-03

I can tell you that I absolutely adore my 2006 Rav 4! It has incredible pick up and power, and has been incredibly reliable. I have been blown away by the customer service and repair experience at Mountain States Toyota in Denver, Colorado. Thank you so much for everything!
