2003 Toyota Mr2 spyder problems
The Toyota MR2 is a line of two-seater, mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports cars, manufactured in Japan and marketed globally by Toyota from 1984 until 2007 over three generations: W10 (1984–1989), W20 (1989–1999) and W30 (1999–2007). It is Japan's first rear mid-engined production car.
Conceived as a small, economical and sporty car, the MR2 uses simple but effective design elements, including an inline-four engine, transversely mounted in front of the rear axle, four-wheel disc brakes, and fully independent coilover suspension – MacPherson strut fronts and Chapman strut rears.
The name MR2 stands for either "mid-ship run-about 2-seater" or "mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 2-seater". In French-speaking markets, the vehicle was renamed Toyota MR because the abbreviation "MR2" sounds like the profanity "merde" when spoken in French.

The reason for designing this car with a 'limited' engine was to minimize insurance costs and avoid the luxury tax. This car was intended for aftermarket modifications, which is quite clever of Toyota. By spending an additional $6000 - $8000, you can install a Power Enterprises turbo kit, suspension kit, add racing rods, racing clutch, and 17' wheels. This will result in a Spyder that can outperform almost any stock sports car, all for less than a total price of $35000. And the best part is, there are no exorbitant insurance costs! Although there is no storage space, it's not a big deal since it goes against the design objective.

I've been driving pickups all my life, and my fiancé owns a Miata MX5. I must say, the Toyota MR2 Spyder is an unbelievable vehicle. Every time I get behind the wheel, I feel like a Formula Racer. The Miata is no slouch either, though. That little tiger can tangle with the best of them. However, in my opinion, the Toyota MR2 Spyder is just a step above. With a limited production of only 5000 per year, you'll have the entire neighborhood asking you what the heck you're driving. It's a rocket that handles like a go-kart but gets the attention of a Ferrari. Need I say more?

Hi there! I wanted to share a story with you about my MR2. I bought it back in July 2003 and was so excited to have it. Unfortunately, just a few weeks later on August 14th, I was in an accident when someone ran a red light and hit me. Thankfully, I walked away with just a few bruises and some minor pain. Although my car was totaled, I'm happy to say that I've ordered another one and I'm looking forward to putting many more miles on it!
