1993 Toyota Land cruiser problems
The Toyota Land Cruiser (Japanese: トヨタ・ランドクルーザー, Hepburn: Toyota Rando-Kurūzā) (also sometimes spelled as LandCruiser) is a series of four-wheel drive vehicles produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota. It is Toyota's longest running series of models. As of 2019, the sales of the Land Cruiser totalled more than 10 million units worldwide.
Production of the first generation of the Land Cruiser began in 1951. The Land Cruiser has been produced in convertible, hardtop, station wagon and cab chassis body styles. The Land Cruiser's reliability and longevity have led to huge popularity, especially in Australia, where it is the best-selling body-on-frame, four-wheel drive vehicle. Toyota also extensively tests the Land Cruiser in the Australian outback – considered to be one of the toughest operating environments in both temperature and terrain. In Japan, the Land Cruiser was once exclusive to Toyota Japanese dealerships called Toyota Store.
Since 1990, the smaller variation of the Land Cruiser has been marketed as the Land Cruiser Prado. Described as a 'light-duty' version of the Land Cruiser by Toyota, it features a different design compared to the full-size model and, up until 2023, it remains the only comfort-oriented Land Cruiser available with a short-wheelbase 3-door version.
As of 2023, the full-size Land Cruiser was available in many markets. Exceptions include the United States (since 2021), Canada (since 1996), Malaysia (which receives the Lexus LX instead), Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Brazil, and most of Europe. In Europe, the only countries where the full-size Land Cruiser is officially sold are Gibraltar, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. The Land Cruiser is hugely popular in the Middle East, Russia, and Australia, and also in Africa where it is used by farmers, the construction industry, non-governmental and humanitarian organizations, the United Nations, national armies (often the pickup version), and irregular armed groups who turn them into "technicals" by mounting machine guns in the rear. In August 2019, cumulative global sales of the Land Cruiser family surpassed 10 million units.

I've been dreaming of owning a Landcruiser for years, and in 1993, I finally got my hands on the most amazing V6 Toyota Landcruiser. The design was fabulous, with an elegant exterior and an amazing interior. We traveled together for 11 years, and my LC was simply amazing. When I finally decided to upgrade to a newer Landcruiser, my 93 LC still had over 350,000 miles on her engine. I have so many stories of this amazing vehicle, but two stand out. In 1994, while traveling over the Tetons highest level at 10,000 ft, an avalanche occurred. A tourist bus was just ahead of the avalanche, and they made it through. There were a number of vehicles ahead of us and many more behind us, but none could get through. As I sat there, it appeared that the eastbound lane while covered in snow was safe. It was apparent that approximately 30' to the eastbound lane, a driver could go over the edge. I pulled to the left of the vehicles in front of me and got through the avalanche. As I drove by the travel bus with the passengers from Germany, they stood up and applauded. This vehicle was amazing! I have another great story, but I'll forgo the details. I purchased a V8 in 2001, and I still love Toyota Landcruisers! If you want the best of the best, go for a Toyota LandCruiser!

Hi there! I'm currently in possession of a 1993 L/C with 117,500 miles on it. Although it's not the most fuel-efficient vehicle out there, it's definitely a reliable one. In fact, I previously owned a 1993 L/C with 350,000 miles on it and it kept on running without any issues. I just love Land Cruisers!

I bought this vehicle because I needed something more refined than the '99 Ford Ranger I owned, and I must say, this Toyota Rocks!! It has enough power, and the cooler in the center console is a pretty nice and useful accessory. Sure, it's a gas guzzler, but this vehicle can take you anywhere you want to go. I bought it from an owner who only used it on weekends, so it came with only 35K miles on the counter.

This has been the best car you have ever owned. You have had it for 26 years and it is just now having some things that need to be repaired. You four wheel in the mountains of Colorado and this Landcruiser is amazing. Your family doesn't want to sell it because of all the great memories and how dependable it has been.

I absolutely love this vehicle! While I would consider upgrading to a newer model, I have so much fun driving it both on and off the road. The only downside is the cost of gas, but it's worth it for the experience.

Hi there! I've been driving my Land Cruiser for just over a year now. With four kids, we needed something that could seat 6, and the Land Cruiser has been a great fit for us. While my old Wagoneer guzzled gas, the Cruiser's 4.0 engine doesn't do too bad considering the SUV weighs in at 6k lbs. I've had to make a few minor repairs, but that's to be expected with a used vehicle that has over 100k miles. Fuel economy is acceptable for such a large vehicle as long as you keep your foot out of it. I wouldn't suggest towing, though - that's why I still have my Wagoneer! Thanks for reading.

Consider waiting until you can afford a V8 powered 1998 or newer model. This vehicle has had a history of breaking down and may not meet your expectations. It is important to invest in a reliable vehicle that will not waste your money or gas.

We have owned this truck for 4 years and put 50,000 miles on it.It has been a great vehicle. We lived in Utah for the first 2 years we owned it,was great on ice,and snow.We towed our 5,000 lb. trailer all over the US with it.It is a comfortable car for our family of 5,and we've also used the 3rd row seat often.Except for the gas mileage which is admittedly poor, this has been a perfect car for our family. We take it in for routine maintenance, and have had no mechanical problems yet.

Your truck sounds like a real workhorse! It's great to hear that the 4 wheel drive always works and the engine has never let you down. With 150k on the clock, it's clear that you take good care of it by using Mobil 1 and changing the oil and filter once a year. While there may be some shortcomings, it's hard to beat the reliability and capability of your truck. It's always amusing to hear people complain about problems with other brands, like their 4 wheel drive not working, engine not starting, differential blowing apart, or even the transmission breaking. Thanks for sharing your positive experience with us!
