2015 Porsche Boxster problems

The Porsche Boxster and Cayman are mid-engine two-seater sports cars manufactured and marketed by German automobile manufacturer Porsche across four generations—as a two-door, two-seater roadster (Boxster) and a three-door, two-seater fastback coupé (Cayman).
The first generation Boxster was introduced in 1996; the second generation Boxster and the Cayman arrived in late 2005; and the third generation launched in 2012. Since the introduction of the fourth generation in 2016, the two models have been marketed as the Porsche 718 Boxster and Porsche 718 Cayman.
The nameplate Boxster is a portmanteau of boxer, a reference to its flat or boxer engine, and roadster, a reference to the body style. The nameplate Cayman is an alternative spelling of caiman, a member of the alligator family.

Common 2015 Porsche Boxster problems
The 2015 Porsche Boxster, like any other vehicle, has its share of common problems reported by owners. While the 2015 model is part of the third-generation Boxster, which is generally considered to be a reliable generation, there are still some issues that have been reported.
One common problem across various Porsche Boxster models, including the 2015 model, is a rear main seal oil leak. This issue appears as an oil leak from the bell housing joint between the engine and transmission. If not addressed promptly, it can destroy a clutch in a manual car and is a sign of other potential issues. The leak occurs due to wear in the piston rings and the liners of the cylinder, causing the piston to wobble and score the liner. The only solution is a replacement engine or rebuild and re-lining of the cylinders.
Another issue reported for the 2015 Porsche Boxster is a timing chain rattle and check engine light. This problem is common in older Boxster engines and is caused by a stretching of the timing chains and failure of the timing chain tensioner. The only solution is to replace the tensioner and the timing chains, which requires engine removal and the use of specialized timing tools.
Additionally, the 2015 Porsche Boxster may experience low or no battery power, especially if the car is not driven regularly. This can lead to the loss of battery power, which resets important systems and can cause unnecessary headaches. To prevent this issue, it is recommended to use a battery maintainer when storing or not driving the car for an extended period.
It is important to note that these issues are not exclusive to the 2015 Porsche Boxster and may be found in other model years as well. When considering the purchase of a used Porsche Boxster, it is essential to be aware of these common problems and to have any potential issues inspected by a qualified Porsche mechanic. Regular servicing and maintenance, especially at a Porsche dealership or recommended specialist firm, can help prevent these issues and ensure the longevity and reliability of the vehicle.

So I was in the market for a sports car and I checked out the BMW z4, Mercedes SLK and the Porsche Boxster. After test driving them all, I can confidently say that the Boxster is the clear winner! I even test drove the 911, but it just didn't have the same balance as the Boxster. I ended up ordering mine with a red leather interior, Agate Gray exterior and 6-speed manual. Whenever I drive it down the street, heads turn! The car is quick and driving on the highway with some curves is an absolute blast. I've never had so much fun driving a car before! The corners are a blast, but be careful not to catch up to the car in front of you because this car lives for the curves. Luckily, it has the best brakes on the planet. As they say, 'there is no substitute'!

After driving a 2003 Boxster for the past seven years, I was ready for a change. I wanted something larger and more practical. Not another two-seat roadster - I was moving on. However, out of curiosity, I test drove the new Porsche Boxster and I was instantly hooked. It's hard to describe just how much better the new version of the Boxster is versus its predecessor. It's better in every way - substantially better. The former was fun and competent, but the new Boxster looks, sounds and drives like a supercar. It's incredible! If you're looking for a practical car, this may not be the best option for you, but if you're looking for an exhilarating driving experience, then this car is definitely worth considering.

I received my new vehicle in late June to replace my previous one. It is fully loaded with PDK, Sport Chrono, and more. I must say, it looks excellent! I ordered it sight-unseen in January and was not disappointed. Compared to the 991, it may be a bit fussy, but it's not too much of a grand tourer now. Although I wasn't budget constrained, I do think that at $80k, the base+6spd starts to look like GREAT value. The PDK is incredibly snappy, and the steering/handling is super sharp. It's just as the reviewers reviewed it - an excellent driver all round. While the interior may not be super luxe, it's still great. If I had to rate it, I'd give it an A-. I like it a lot and will keep it for a long time, I'm sure.

All around fun! I have been driving my Porsche for 5 years now and it still puts a huge smile on my face. I have had no issues with it and have only needed to change the oil and tires. Although I am considering the new 2020 4.0 flat six, I know that I don't really need it because this car is already perfect. I even added sport pipes to enhance the sound, which is now perfect!

I've owned my Boxster for over a year now and it's definitely the most dynamic car I've ever had. Even with the smaller engine and automated manual transmission, it has plenty of power to handle LA congestion. The acceleration between 80 mph and 110 mph is truly intoxicating. The car handles like a true sports car with smooth and assured acceleration. The interior is very comfortable and well-appointed, and for less than $70,000, it's an amazing value. Some people say that the trunk space is limited, but I've managed to do a couple of Costco runs and airport trips with luggage without too much of a problem. The top goes up and down in a matter of seconds, even while on the go, making it easy and convenient. One thing to note, at least in LA, the car gets a lot of attention. Between its looks and the sound of the engine, the Boxster turns a lot of heads. Whether that's a good or bad thing depends on your preference for attention. If you want to be inconspicuous, a Boxster may not be the car for you.
