Common Plymouth Breeze problems
The Plymouth Breeze, produced from 1996 to 2000, was a midsize sedan that was part of the Chrysler LH platform, which also included the Chrysler Cirrus and Dodge Stratus. Despite being a relatively new car, the Breeze had several common problems that were often reported by its owners.
One of the most common problems with the Plymouth Breeze was the heater system. According to a Curbside Classic article, the heater in the Breeze would only work at full blast, leading to an endless cycle of heat on, heat off, and windows down during cold weather. This issue could be caused by a faulty heater core, a damaged blend door actuator, or a malfunctioning thermostat.
Another problem with the Breeze was the engine and transmission. The Breeze was available in four-cylinder form only, with a 2.0L engine shared with the Neons. However, the Dodge and Chrysler models got the bigger 2.4L four.
The interior of the Breeze was also prone to problems. The dashboard and door panels were known to crack and fade, especially in hot climates.
The Breeze was also known for having electrical issues. The fuses in the Breeze were prone to blowing, especially the fuse for the powertrain control module (PCM) and the alternator. This issue could be caused by a faulty PCM, a bad alternator, or a wiring problem.
Finally, the Breeze was known for having issues with the suspension and steering. The Breeze had a tendency to pull to one side while driving, which could be caused by a misaligned suspension or a malfunctioning steering system. This issue could also be caused by uneven tire wear or a damaged wheel bearing.
In conclusion, the Plymouth Breeze had several common problems that were often reported by its owners. These issues included a faulty heater system, underpowered engine and transmission, poor interior quality, electrical problems, and suspension and steering issues. Despite these problems, the Breeze was a popular car during its production run, and many of them can still be seen on the road today.
What year did they stop making Plymouth Breeze?
The Plymouth Breeze was an entry-level midsize sedan produced from 1996 to 2000.
What make is a Plymouth Breeze?
Breeze is a member of the compact Chrysler Cirrus/Dodge Stratus family at Chrysler. Cirrus is the luxury car, Stratus the performance car and Breeze (what a wonderful name) the economy car.
Why did Plymouth get discontinued?
By the 1990s, Plymouth had lost much of its identity, as its models continued to overlap in features and prices with its sister brands, Dodge and Eagle. Chrysler attempted to remedy this by repositioning Plymouth to its traditional target market as the automaker's entry-level brand.
Why did Plymouth go out of business?
The demise of Plymouth was due to lackluster cars that were similar to other models offered by other brands in the group, although Chrysler Group had a few tricks up their sleeves with the new PT Cruiser being planned to revive the Plymouth brand.

- Summary: ON 1/25/13 I HAD SOME MINOR REPAIR WORK DONE ON MY VEHICLE. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT I HAD A LEAK IN MY POWER STEERING HOSE. HE ALSO INFORMED ME OF A RECALL THAT HAD BEEN ISSUED IN 2006 #06V001000. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF THIS RECALL. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE 2004, AND AM IN POSSESSION OF THE TITLE THAT VERIFIES THAT. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER, SECURITY DODGE ON LONG ISLAND, NY TO DISCUSS THE MATTER. I WAS INFORMED BY THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT SHOW ANY OPEN RECALLS. THEY TOLD ME THIS RECALL WAS REMEDIED IN 2007 IN COTTONWOOD, AZ. THEY ALSO GAVE ME THE NAME OF THE OWNER, WHICH IS NOT ME. MY CAR WAS NEVER SERVICED IN COTTONWOOD, AZ. AT THE TIME THAT WAS 2 HOURS FROM WHERE I LIVED. I OPENED A CASE WITH DAIMLER CHRYSLER WHO INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTACT THE SERVICE MANAGER AT SECURITY DODGE. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS FAR FROM HELPFUL OR INTERESTED IN THE CONFUSION WITH THIS SITUATION. I HAVE JUST READ ALL OF THE INCIDENTS OF FIRE RESULTING FROM THIS HOSE AND I NEED HELP IN GETTING THIS RECTIFIED. IT APPEARS THERE MUST BE A CLERICAL ERROR WITH MY VIN NUMBER IN THEIR SYSTEM. I FEEL THIS IS BACKED UP BY THE FACT THEY GAVE ME THE INCORRECT NAME OF THE OWNER AS WELL. I AM NOW VERY FEARFUL TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. I NEVER HAD THIS RECALL REPAIR MADE IN COTTONWOOD, AZ IN 2007 OR AT ANY OTHER TIME. CAN YOU ASSIST ME IN GETTING THIS RECTIFIED? *TR

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with our Breeze. We've had it since it was new and it's been a great car. We've only needed to replace the brake pads and keep up with regular oil changes. While it may not be the flashiest car out there, it gets great gas mileage and has plenty of space in both the cabin and trunk for a sedan. Even tall people will have plenty of leg room in the back seat - I'm 6'4

Your 1997 Plymouth Breeze sounds like a great car! With 230 thousand miles and only maintenance items replaced, it's clear that you take good care of it. It's impressive that you haven't needed any major repairs, and the fact that it still looks new after 11 years is a testament to its quality. Keep up the good work with maintenance, and your car will continue to serve you well!

Over the couple years you've had your Plymouth Breeze, you've come to love it. Although the outer appearance didn't appeal to you at first, you're pleased you chose this car over a smaller sportier car.

I previously owned a Breeze, but unfortunately got into an accident when a teenager on her cell phone ran a red light and hit me. Despite the impact, my Breeze held up well. However, I decided to purchase another car and chose the Breeze again because of its reliability and safety features. The exterior has been completely rebuilt due to a previous accident, but the car still runs perfectly and gets an impressive 28 mpg. It's a great car for anyone looking for a safe and affordable option, especially for young drivers or as a starter car.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I bought it used with 20,000 miles and have put 165,000 miles on it over the past five years. While I've had to replace the head gasket twice (which seems to be a chronic problem with this car), as well as the brakes, cylinder, and some steering components, the rest of the body is in good shape, with just a bit of rust on the front of the hood. Overall, I've been quite satisfied with my purchase. While it may not be the best car out there, it was definitely worth the price!

Although this car has had some issues, I have gained a lot of experience in maintaining it. I purchased it used with 74k miles and it now has 86k miles. I mainly drive on roads, but I have learned to handle it well. I have had to replace several parts, including the radiator, starter, brakes, tires, spark plugs, and oil gasket, which has been costly. However, I have learned a lot about car maintenance through these experiences. While the car has broken down again today, I have to admit that the stereo system is better than many new, prestigious cars, with excellent bass. The car is also comfortable to drive, with no sudden shocks when gears change. Despite some issues with fluids leaking, excessive rust, and paint peeling, the car still looks good and has a great design for a '99.

I'm so excited to be trading in my car today! Even more excited to be getting rid of this old thing than I am about getting a new(er) car! Unfortunately, this car has had a few issues. The O2 sensor has blown twice and the rear passenger door has been squeaking since about 5,000 miles. I've taken it to the dealer three times for the squeak, but it still persists (it's really more of a screech than a squeak). It also has a bit of an oil leak and the steering is making a scary noise right now. While I've heard that some people really like their Breezes, this one has been a bit of a nightmare since the beginning. If you're thinking about trading in your car, I'd recommend doing it sooner rather than later while you can still get some money for it!

I've owned my 98 Breeze with 227k for a year now, after purchasing it for $1200. Although I've encountered some issues, such as a bad master cylinder, a broken power steering hose, and common maintenance like replacing 2 wheel bearings and control arms, the car has been reliable and gets me where I need to go with good mpg (25-27). The handling is good, especially in the winter, and it cruises well down the freeway. The only major issue I've experienced is with the transmission. On hot summer days, after 30 minutes of highway driving, the car will lurch, rev to 3500 rpm, and go into limp mode. Despite this, I still find the Plymouth Breeze to be a solid and reliable car. The interior could be improved with larger cup holders and better insulation to reduce noise, but overall it's a great car.
