The Mazda Millenia is an automobile which was manufactured by Mazda in Japan from 1993 to 2002.

The Millenia was originally planned as the second of three models for Mazda's proposed luxury brand Amati. As the company's dwindling finances caused by the onslaught of the "bubble economy" prevented the launch of the Amati brand, the Millenia was released in the autumn of 1993 in Europe as the Mazda Xedos 9 and in Japan and Australia as the Eunos 800. The car was launched in North America in 1995 as the Mazda Millenia and in July 1997 the Japanese market Eunos 800 was also renamed to Mazda Millenia as Mazda discontinued the Eunos brand. There was no model link to the other Mazda marque, Ẽfini.

Having been developed for a separate market from typical Mazda customers, the Millenia boasted myriad finer details. It was engineered to far greater levels of perceived quality than existing Mazda cars, such as interior plastic quality, panel gap and thicker paint coating. The Millenia/Eunos 800/Xedos 9 was assembled along with the smaller Eunos 500/Mazda Xedos 6 in a new production line, presumably set up for Amati cars.

The Millenia does not have a direct predecessor or replacement in the Mazda product line, and production ceased with the introduction of the Mazda6 in 2002, itself a replacement for the 626. It appears to have received a brand-new platform, although the multi-link suspension at both ends strongly resembled that of the 1991 Mazda Sentia, with minor changes such as replacing the lower I-arm with an A-arm for front wheel drive. It was the only production car in the world to employ a Miller cycle engine (The current Demio/Mazda2 features Miller Cycle on one of its engines). Yaw-sensitive four-wheel steering was available as an option in Japan; Mazda claimed that with this feature, the Millenia was capable of passing the elk test at speeds comparable to the BMW 850i and Nissan 300ZX.

The 1997 Japanese market name change from Eunos 800 to Mazda Millenia was accompanied by a significant facelift that included some cost-saving measures. For instance, the hood was downgraded from aluminum to steel. The Millenia was again facelifted for the 2001 model year.

WE IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE GASKET. MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED, AFTER ENTERING THE ENGINE, THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE BLOCK. SO WE REPLACED THE ENGINE WITH A USED ENGINE WITH 30,000 MILES ON IT. IT, TOO, HAD COOLANT IN THE OIL. THE THIRD ENGINE IS ALSO THE SAME. I SPOKE WITH A SERVICE AND PARTS MANAGER, JIM KELLEY, AT CENTURY MAZDA IN AUGUST 2003. HE KNEW THE PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY. SEVERAL MAZDA MILLENIAS MADE IN THAT YEAR HAD A "FAULTY WATERPUMP". HE SAID IT WASN'T RECALLED. HE OFFERED ME A NEW REMANUFACTURED MAZDA ENGINE WITH A WARRANTY OF 3 YEARS/UNLIMITED MILES. BUT FOR $5,000+. I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY AT THE TIME. I FOUND OUT NOW, MAZDA ONLY TYPICALLY GIVES A 1 YEAR/12 MONTH WARRANTY ON THEIR ENGINES. SO I AM TO ASSUME THAT THEY WANTED ME TO BE QUIET AND GET A "VERY GOOD DEAL".     Here is my honest opinion about this car: 1. It does consume a lot of fuel, so if you plan on driving it daily, be prepared to spend a lot on fuel. 2. The car is quite heavy, which affects its pick up. The miller cycle engine has to work harder to supply energy, resulting in greater gas consumption. 3. The car does consume a lot of motor oil, which can be inconvenient. Overall, I would not recommend this vehicle due to its high maintenance costs and low resale value.

    I was able to purchase my Millenia at a seriously reduced price below the sticker, which felt like a great deal at the time. Although the sound system is terrific and the styling is sexy, I did find the cabin to be a bit cramped and lacking in features such as cup holders (only one provided), an ashtray, and a glove box with limited space. Additionally, I noticed that the transmission often felt like it was missing gears and spinning during low speed acceleration. Unfortunately, the reliability did not meet the expectations set by Consumer Reports.

    I have really enjoyed my Millenia car! Although the check engine light comes on frequently, I believe it's just a tactic used by car companies to get you to bring your car in for minor issues. I've been able to keep my car running like it's brand new by fixing things as they break down. I typically get around 270-300 miles per tank of gas, which isn't too bad for a car that's 10 years old. I've had a few repairs done this year, including changing the timing belt, repairing the valve cover gasket, and replacing the O2 Sensor and Crank Shaft. But, it's expected to have some repairs for a car that's 10 years old. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable vehicle!

    I bought this car brand new in 1998, but unfortunately, I've had a lot of issues with it over the years. Some of the repairs and replacements I've had to make include the fuel sending unit, oxygen sensor, powertrain control module, EGR valve, front upper control arm, and rear inner tie rod. It's frustrating that this car requires premium gas, especially since it doesn't offer top-tier performance. Based on my experience, I don't think I'll be buying another Mazda in the future.

    This car is one of the best sports sedans I've ever driven. It's fast, nimble, and has good ride quality. Before purchasing this car, I test drove the Maxima and Diamente. Compared to the Maxima, both cars promise luxury and performance, but the Millenia S has more features that the Maxima doesn't have. As for the Diamente, it just didn't even come close. I have 67,000 miles on my Millenia S, and the only part I've had to pay for is the O2 sensor. If you're looking for a reliable luxury sports sedan that won't break the bank, the Millenia S (S model only) is a great choice.

    Hello! If you happen to be an owner of a Millenia that you bought several years ago, you might be feeling a bit disappointed with its resale value. However, it's worth noting that the price of the car has been lowered over the years and you can now get one for nearly the same price as a loaded Camry or Accord. That being said, the quality of ride, features, and appearance of the Millenia are incomparable. The car truly shines on the highway, cruising quietly and effortlessly at 80mph. If the car had another 50hp and a little more front leg room it would be near perfect. Personally, I have 50,000 miles on my Millenia with few problems. There was a noise in the rear suspension that cost $250 to repair and the automatic tilt occasionally acts funny, but overall it has been trouble-free.

    We received this car as a gift from a family member and we absolutely love it! My husband enjoys driving it on the curvy Smokey Mountain roads as it sticks like glue. The interior and exterior style of the car is really nice, with a lot of interior color and even wood grain. We have taken it on many uphill drives in the mountains and it just wants to go, period. The same goes for driving on the highway. We have had to change a few parts, but considering it has already done 100,000 miles, it's to be expected.
