2020 Mazda Cx-30 problems
The Mazda CX-30 is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by Mazda. Based on the fourth-generation Mazda3, it debuted at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, to slot in between the CX-3 and the CX-5. It went on sale in Japan on 24 October 2019, with global units being produced at Mazda's Hiroshima factory, North and South American units built in Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico, Thailand and initial Australian units made at the AutoAlliance Thailand plant in Rayong, and China-market units produced in Nanjing by Changan Mazda.
Overview
The CX-30 features lightweight construction to improve performance and economy, and is offered in either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive.
According to Naohito Saga, the CX-30's program manager, the new model is targeted to drivers who are still single or are married and starting a family in the United States. Mazda chief designer Ryo Yanagisawa said that it will be more acceptable as a family car in Europe and Japan. Saga also noted that Mazda named the vehicle CX-30, to avoid confusion with the China-only CX-4.
The CX-30 was released in the UK in December 2019 and in North America in January 2020. It was launched in the Philippines on 28 November 2019, Malaysia on 15 January 2020, Indonesia on 28 January 2020, and Thailand on 6 March 2020. The 2.5 turbo model was released internationally in February 2021.

- Transmission Issues: Some owners have reported transmission problems, specifically lunging and chirping. The problem was first noticed at around 40,000 miles. - Drive System: Issues with the driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, four-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive components, driveline vibration, electrical failure, traction control, and electronic stability control have been reported. After the incident, I drove my vehicle to the nearest dealership (Capistrano Mazda) but they didn't lift a finger besides taking a couple pics and suggested I call their 800 customer experience center number. Since it was a Saturday, I reached out through Mazda's customer experience email. I didn't hear back from Mazda until 4 days later on [XXX] requesting additional information (address, VIN # & mileage). After providing requested information, I didn't hear back from Mazda until [XXX] suggesting I bring my vehicle back to Capistrano Mazda dealership for a diagnosis. Almost 10 days had passed with no action from Mazda while I still had to commute to/from work dealing with loud incessant cabin noise from shattered sunroof open cavity. When I entered the car, the motor wouldn't catch at all, and message popped up saying the there was a brake malfunction. I finally, while still driving, turned off the ignition and rolled off the road. After a few minutes, i restarted the engine. it had stopped racing and i drove it to the Mazda dealership. They didnt find anything wrong. So this latest incident, Jan. 3rd, involved an uninitiated running vehicle that was parked, and the brake malfunction console notice that said "brake malfunction". Again, the prior incident involved the same vehicle racing on a roadway and necessitated the turning off the ignition while on a major road and rolling the car onto the shoulder. There is something wrong with this car involving the engine and brakes. I'm glad to hear that you love it!

Took it for a short ride from the dealer, both my wife and I. I thought it was pretty good, especially for the value. My wife loved it!

I've been driving my 2020 Mazda CX30 premium for a year now and I absolutely love it! It's compact, comfy, sporty/nimble, great on gas, and has awesome tech. The interior cabin is also very quiet while driving, almost like German quiet. However, I did have an issue with the AC not working properly. Whenever I accelerated with the AC on, it would start blowing hot air and I couldn't get it to stop. I took it to the dealer and was initially told that it was designed that way, but later found out that there was a software upgrade available. I was thrilled when I got it fixed! However, before the summer temperatures in CA began, I noticed that the AC just couldn't get cold enough. Even during summer, I'm struggling to feel comfortable in my car because the interior temperature doesn't drop below 57-60 degrees. I'm taking it to the dealer for another recall this week and I hope they can fix my AC issue because my sister's CX5 has ice-cold AC. Also, I've noticed that the heated seats don't always work.

You'll love the beautiful interior and exterior of this car. It easily compares to luxury models.

I love this car! However, the front differential needs a fix. I have noticed that the 2020 CX-30's (2.5 AWD) front differential has a major problem. The fill plug has a metal bracket that partially covers the plug, making it impossible to remove the plug as it is. Do you think it would be possible to make a video that shows how to move the differential enough that drivers could do a fluid change? Mazda has fixed the problem on the 2021 and newer CX-30's. Maybe it would be possible to swap an older bracket with a newer one? Unfortunately, Mazda has not been helpful in finding a solution for this issue. The dealerships have told me that the differential is

My wife and I recently test drove a CX-30 Select in our search for a compact SUV. We were impressed and decided to purchase a red CX-30 with the Preferred package. However, upon driving it home, we noticed that the ride was a bit stiff and the throttle was sensitive at lower speeds. Additionally, the transmission seemed to downshift too quickly and unnecessarily shift gears. We also found it difficult to enter the vehicle due to the low windshield pillar. Unfortunately, we experienced buyer's remorse and decided to contact the dealer the next morning to see if we could return the vehicle. The dealership was very understanding and the whole deal was nullified, which was a huge relief. Although we were disappointed with this particular CX-30, we understand that it may have been due to the Bridgestone Turanza el400 tires, which have received poor reviews. While Mazda's are known for their sharp steering response, this CX-30 did not measure up. Overall, we cannot give this CX-30 a high rating, although the first one we tested was certainly better.

I have a 2020 CX-30 and unfortunately, I have been experiencing some issues with the A/C. Despite taking it back to the dealer 3 or 4 times, the moldy smell persists and the latest solution offered is a temporary fix that needs to be repeated every 3 years. As a result, I have decided to trade it in for a Subaru. Thank you for your understanding.

I was really looking forward to the release of this vehicle and went to my local dealership with the intention of purchasing it as soon as it arrived. However, I was disappointed to see that the beautiful Soul Red car had been ruined with huge black plastic fender wells. I left the dealership without the car I had been dreaming of and feeling quite let down. It's a shame that they made this design choice.
Verner Schuppe 2024-10-10
I purchased my CX-30 six months ago and unfortunately experienced some technical difficulties three months in. While the car runs smoothly and performs well, I have encountered some issues with the programming. The screen has frozen and the radio has made some strange noises. Additionally, I have had to replace the battery in my key fob three times, which is surprising as it is supposed to last for two years. I have also had some trouble with the push-to-start feature, as my keys have been locked inside the car on occasion. Despite these issues, I am hopeful that Mazda will be able to diagnose and fix the problems. They currently have my car for a second round of diagnostics. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This SUV has been a total disappointment for the high price paid. Despite being brand new and only used a few times, it failed to turn on and required roadside assistance. Additionally, the locking/unlocking mechanism is unreliable, often requiring the use of the key buttons. The fuel economy is poor, even on short trips, necessitating frequent stops at the gas station. The metal edges are prone to mold and the plastic parts are easily scratched. Furthermore, there are alarming noises coming from the engine area and the headlights blink intermittently. Despite these issues, we remain confident in our ability to address and resolve them.
