At its introduction to Japan, it was exclusive to Japanese dealerships called Toyota Netz Store, until Lexus was introduced to Japan in 2006. The Japan-sold AS200 Altezza sedan and AS300 Altezza Gita correspond to the Lexus IS 200 and IS 300 models respectively, as sold in markets outside of Japan. The Lexus IS' primary markets were North America, Australia, and Europe. The Altezza Gita was a hatchback-station wagon version sold in Japan and was known in the US and Europe as the Lexus IS SportCross. The AS300 Altezza Gita was the only Altezza with the 2JZ-GE engine; in export markets this engine was available in the sedan models as well as the Lexus IS300 Sedan.

I've owned my car since 2012. After purchasing it, I changed all the fluids and did the timing belt. I haven't looked back since! Unfortunately, this site doesn't allow you to choose a model with navigation for 2002, which mine has. It also has a full black leather interior, sunroof, 5-speed manual, LSD rear end, heated seats, and power everything. Whoever bought this car initially ordered it from the dealer with all those options because I haven't seen one like it in person or online. I absolutely love it! The 5-speed is the way to go in this car, but finding one is getting hard. It has nice city power to get through traffic, and while it may not have the best MPG, I'm heavy-footed and you can always trust Toyota's build quality. It's a great car!

I bought this car brand new in the spring of '03 and I still love driving it to this day. It has been incredibly reliable and has over 80,000 miles on it, but it still looks and feels like new. I have only had to replace two sets of tires and one set of brake pads. It is an absolute blast to drive and I actually ended up selling my SC 400 just six months after buying this car because I never drove the SC anymore. The handling is better than most sports cars, with crisp and fast turn-in and steering that is not overboosted. While it could use a bit less body roll in stock form, I swapped in Eibach springs and the handling is noticeably improved. The power from the inline 6 is smooth and the sound of the engine is a wonderful purr. The interior layout is perfect and fits like a good racing glove. Overall, this is a true driver's car and I also really enjoy the fine Nav System with easy-to-use controls at my fingertips.

The Is300 is an amazing car that combines sport, luxury, and reliability in a rare and wonderful way. I purchased this car 2 years ago and have only needed to perform scheduled oil changes ($26 by the way) and basic system flushes. The engine runs smoothly and the exhaust note is music to the ears, especially in a parking garage. I have found that the body has aged gracefully and I receive compliments on it often. It's a higher-end Toyota, but I would definitely recommend it as a top choice for a great used car.

I've been driving this car since it had 81k miles, and now it has 124k miles - all of which were driven with enthusiasm. I haven't had a single issue with it. I added a few mods to the car, such as coilovers, headers, intake, tune, exhaust, and chassis braces, which really woke the car up! It adds to the already nimble handling of this car. The exterior has aged amazingly, and people are surprised that mine is 13 years old. The engine bay is also very easy to work on.

IS 300 has great looks and great performance. With the five-speed transmission, it is every reason I needed to never purchase the low-quality, poorly-conceived product offered by the 'Big 3' automakers. Every detail has been addressed by Lexus engineers to make a high-quality product that is fun to drive and easy to maintain. This car is worth every dollar you pay for it.
