The first generation Carnival was introduced in January 1998, and was marketed in a single, short wheelbase version. Second generation models were marketed (2006–2014) in short and long wheelbase variants. A rebadged variant of the second generation was offered in North America as the Hyundai Entourage (2007–2009). Beginning in 2010, the second generation model received updated equipment, including Kia's corporate Tiger Nose grille, as introduced by its then new design chief, Peter Schreyer. Kia introduced its third generation minivan in 2014, solely in a long wheelbase format. The fourth generation was introduced in 2020, when Kia also began using the Carnival nameplate worldwide.

The first generation model was manufactured and marketed differently for specific regions, including under a joint venture in the Chinese market with Dongfeng Yueda Kia, as well as the Naza Ria in Malaysia.
In Indonesia and the Philippines, both Carnival/Sedona names were used. Initially introduced as the Carnival in 2001, from 2003 onwards, it was renamed as the Sedona.

I informed the dealer multiple times that the trim has already come off multiple times and is a hazard. They then reiterated that it didn’t qualify for a repair under their standards. Same information was presented directly to Kia Care and I was given the same information. Upon arriving home, a quick glance at the roof trim showed that it was, in fact, separated from the roof in one area and I was able to gently tug at the trim to remove it completely. The dealership failed to do an adequate inspection of the vehicle and repair it as they should have.

Driver's unsure if other systems were affected. Driver distractibility was drastically increased and driver and passenger safety was at risk. Unknown component at fault, still in service at dealership. 2 - Very distracted driving, all dashboard lights blinking erratically and beeping noises constantly filling the cabin. Blinker would not work and other gauges were not functioning so driver could not tell speed of vehicle. Driver unsure if other systems affected such as airbags, lighting, braking systems, etc. Family did not want to drive the vehicle. 3 - Problem was not reproduced at dealership but vehicle produced 33 different fault codes. Dealer states another 2024 Kia Carnival is in for the same reasons. 4 - The vehicle has only been inspected by Bob Sight Kia employees. 5 - Nothing else happened prior. Vehicle had less than 200 miles on odometer when first incident occurred on [XXX], 2024. As stated previously, every warning indicator was flashing on and off sporadically. - Summary: In June 2023, I purchased a 2024 Kia Carnival with approx. 17 miles on it. One thing I noticed after purchasing the vehicle is when I pushed the button to close the power sliding door on the driver side of the vehicle is that halfway during closing it would hesitate, open back up slightly, and then proceed to close. I didn't think anything of it at the time. Prior to [XXX], I had the same issue again but this time the door stopped halfway while closed and just went back and forth over and over again. It did this continually until I turned off the power sliding door and manually closed it. On [XXX], I took the vehicle to a Kia dealership and explained the problem to them and they kept it for a day and stated there was nothing they could do because they could not replicate the problem. Kia wanted to charge me a $180 diagnostic fee which I refused to pay because I knew the problem existed and I had purchased a warranty through Kia which they stated they would not honor unless they found a problem. They advised me to video record the issue if it happened again. Prior to [XXX], the issue happened again only this time my 3 year old child was almost caught in the door, but my wife grabbed her and in doing so the door closed on my wife. After this incident, I was able to duplicate the issue two more times and was able to get it on recording. On [XXX], I took my vehicle to the same dealership and left it for a week. I provided them with my videos. During this time the issue also happened with the service rep and she also had two lube techs witness it, but this didn't satisfy them enough to say they could fix it. Eventually a tech worked on it and stated code "b15a200" showed as "pending" but they needed an "active" code in order to do any work on it. This code showed as "lh outside door handle switch short low". Kia again stated they couldn't work on it because the "tech" ever duplicated the problem. The problem has still persisted. In doing so, I thought I busted my front driver’s side tire, but later found out at the dealership that my rim is completely split. I'm baffled at the fact that the wheel failed as severely as it did, so were the technicians who witnessed the damage. I was driving 50mph when it happened & I'm worried about major safety issues & the integrity of the other wheels. I was told by the service advisor that a new wheel could be ordered for $1,100.00 however, the delivery is backdated with no delivery date in sight. I'm currently driving on a spare tire that is only good for driving 50 miles. I drive approximately 68 miles per day to get my children to & from school & to & from work & I have been driving on this spare tire since the incident occurred. I feel this is a safety hazard to not only myself & my family, but other drivers on the road. I never thought I'd drive a minivan, but I needed the space and then Kia came out with the MPV Carnival. It's named after a circus, which I think is fitting since kids can be quite the performers! The Carnival has plenty of legroom for all passengers in the second and third rows, and the seats can slide forward or back for more or less space. It can hold up to 8 passengers, but you can remove the middle second-row seat for captain's chairs and easy access to the third row. The tech in the front is great, although I wish there was more storage space. Overall, I still love it. However, I'm a bit disappointed with the entertainment system in the second row. The car doesn't have wifi, so you can't use it unless you have a hotspot. I'm also experiencing some issues with it randomly turning off and the screen resolution being fuzzy at times. The system only has YouTube and Netflix, and I think there should be more streaming options or the ability to stream anything from my phone. A DVD player in the back would have been a great addition so kids could watch whatever they want without worrying about wifi. The ride is smooth and comfortable. From a mom's perspective, there are definitely some things that could be improved, especially considering the price point. However, I would still recommend this vehicle to other moms.

Just picked up a 2024 Carnival SX and it's a fantastic upgrade from our Pacifica. It comfortably seats 8 and has all the features you could ask for, from wireless charging to Highway Assisted Driving that helps steer the vehicle, not just brake or accelerate like every other minivan. The best part is the peace of mind knowing that the Carnival won't blow a head gasket like the Chrysler Pacifica. Overall, it's a great vehicle with refined driving and better MPG than advertised when using ECO mode.

I really like the look of this car and it's packed with great tech and features. However, I did experience a few issues after driving it for 4 months. Firstly, the fuel indicator wasn't always accurate when below the last quarter. Secondly, there was a lack of low end torque. Thirdly, the check engine light came on twice in very cold weather (-18c), but thankfully it went off the next day. Lastly, the infotainment system was unresponsive in cold weather after a cold start, but it went back to normal after the car warmed up.

The vehicle looks great and has more of an SUV/Crossover look than a Minivan look. I opted for the 2nd row VIP Lounge Seating since I never haul enough people to need 8 seats. There's tons of room and I've always liked the Kia 3rd row seats that stow in the floor. Pop them up and the cargo space goes from generous to huge. The Tech Package is amazing! The user selectable functions and options took me hours to set up (did a software update while I was at it). You can even set up an in-vehicle wireless hotspot that will require a Verizon subscription once the 3 month free trial is over. The only shortcoming in my book is that you can't set up a router WiFi connection. The update process requires downloading the package to a USB drive. It would be nice to download it directly to the vehicle's head unit, but that's a minor issue I can live with.

Good day! I purchased this Carnival 2022 SV prestige model for my family and it has been great for my kids. The ride is pretty smooth and it has a lot of technology built in. I am really happy with it and hope to keep it for at least 10 years. I also have to mention that the warranty is excellent, with 100,000 on the spot for the engine and transmission. I remember Chevy was a big mover back in the day :) Thanks KIA Motors :)

The only issue at this time is that UVO is not available in my state. I will report back later as I have only driven 2400 miles. It's important to note that the Carnival MPV is not a minivan, according to KIA. I recently purchased the top of the line model and I'm still discovering new features to play with. I changed the backlight for the buttons from blue to purple, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to change it back. Unfortunately, no one at the KIA dealership seems to know. KIA does not allow MA 2022 model year owners to have UVO, and an oil change (full synthetic) is required at 8,000 miles and then every 4,000. I overheard a dealer telling a customer with 22,000 miles that KIA may not be responsible for the cause of engine noise because the customer could not prove all oil changes were done.

I had a recent experience with a Kia vehicle that I would like to share. Although I was initially interested in purchasing the 2023 Carnival SX Prestige, I ultimately decided against it due to a limitation that I found concerning. As a family with five drivers, it was important for us to have extra keys programmed for our vehicle. Unfortunately, I discovered that Kia does not allow for more than two keys to be programmed for their vehicles. While this was surprising to me, I ultimately decided to explore other options. I hope that this information can be helpful to others who may be considering a Kia vehicle.

I'm currently on the lookout for a new van to replace my trusty Chevy Astro. I thought I had found the perfect replacement with a KIA, but unfortunately, the model I was interested in didn't allow for a roof rack unless you opted for the jumbo premium seat package. My ideal van would have maximum vertical and length storage, allowing me to transport 10' lumber with ease, as well as AWD and a great tow package for when I need to tow my boat. It would also be great if it could accommodate my kids when necessary. KIA, please consider allowing for more customizable options to maximize interior and exterior storage, similar to the Astro.

We have the Carnival LX. Although there is road noise and the driver seat is only average in comfort, it is a spacious vehicle that handles heavy rain and water well. While there is no Sirius XM Radio option or navigation, you can still stream music by mirroring your phone. However, if you hit an area with poor cell service, you may lose maps and streaming music. Sometimes the system will reconnect on its own, but other times you may need to shut down the car and start over. We did find that the Pacifica was more responsive and easier to navigate in terms of entertainment system, but the Carnival LX has its own strengths. It's a shame that there is no satellite radio option or backup navigation, but overall it's a reliable and spacious vehicle. We'll be enjoying it for a long time!
