  • Summary: In Florida, I purchased my 2004 Isuzu Rodeo March 2005 at 134 miles. I've always had issues, but didn't know how to articulate the issues. My truck sits/leans to the right and low in the back. It is uneven as if the shocks or struts are off. Driving one night, the truck slams down/drops low out of no where while driving. When I am driving and need to brake, I have to brake then brake again. I dare not make any sharp turns by parking or anything it's like the truck will slip or axels bend. I am have trouble with the engine currently(September 2022). Oil is leaking but you can't see from where. The engine is making loud rambling sounds. The exhaust sounds muffled. My car parts are not exact because my Rodeo is built like a demo, seemingly. Power Reduced & check engine light happens randomly usually while on the expressway. It slows the vehicle down in the middle of flowing traffic. I have to try to pull over turn car off then back on to try & reset the vehicle. The car now vibrates but don't know from where or cause. How can I get my car repaired?

ON AUGUST 21, 2019 MY MECHANIC HOISTED MY SUV AND WE WATCHED WITH SURPRISE AS SOME FLAT RUST SLABS FELL TO HIS SHOP FLOOR. HE LOOKED ABOVE THE FALL LOCATION: THE SPARE TIRE IS ATTACHED JUST BELOW A WELL, AND WITHIN THE SPARE-TIRE WHEEL-GAPS WERE ADDITIONAL LOOSE RUST SLABS THAT HAD NOT YET FALLEN. THEY WERE REMOVED. THE MECHANIC THEN PONDERED A LIKELY CAUSE: HE REASONED THE METAL PLATE (AND/OR THE AREAS ALONGSIDE IT) THAT HELPS SECURE THE SPARE TIRE MIGHT BE EXCESSIVELY RUSTY. TO SEE IT HE HAD TO INSERT HIS HEAD UP INTO THE WELL, BUT WHICH DID NOT GIVE HIM ENOUGH OF CLEAR VIEW TO ASSESS THE MATTER ADEQUATELY (NOR COULD I MANAGE TO GET MUCH OF A LOOK). A PRE-PURCHASE DISCLOSURE WAS THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT WORK. SALES STAFF ASSURED ME THIS HAD BEEN, OR WOULD BE FIXED BY THE DEALERSHIP. PRIOR TO THE FIRST SCHEDULED REPAIR VISIT, I REPORTED THAT THE HORN DOES NOT WORK AND THAT THE AIR BAG WAS UNCOVERED. THE DEALERSHIP COVERED THE AIR BAG BUT TOLD ME AFTERWARDS THEY HAD NO WAY TO VERIFY IF THE AIR BAG IS FUNCTIONAL. THERE IS NO AIR BAG ICON ON THE DASH. WHEN I SCHEDULE IT TO BE LOOK AT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK EVEN THOUGH I HAD VIDEOS OF THE PROBLEM HOPPING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HWY. 3RD ISSUE IM HAVING AN ISSUE SWITCHING GEARS. FOR EXAMPLE MY TRUCK IS PARKED FOR OVER AN HOUR AND WHEN I NEED TO OUT MY TRUCK ON PARK OR REVERSE ITS STUCK. I ASKED IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN IN MY VEHICLE AGAIN OR IF A DEALER WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX IT WHAT WOULD BE THE COURSE OF ACTION, AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING THAT FINANCIAL DECISION SINCE MY WARRANTY IS UP.   • Summary: WE PURCHASED A 2004 RODEO FROM HONDA AT THEIR USED CAR SERVICE. THE STICKER HAD ON IT AS IS WARRANTY. UPON RETURNING HOME WE NOTICED THE PAPERWORK WE SIGNED DID NOT HAVE A SIGNATURE ON IT. THEY WERE NOTIFED AND THAT THE PRICE WAS WRONG ALSO, THEY DID NOTHING. A FEW DAYS LATER I NOTICED THAT THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT HAD A FLAT TIRE. WHEN WE CHECKED IT, IT WAS O.K. BUT IT FELT DIFFERENT WHEN DRIVEN. THE NEXT DAY I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS LEANING SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT. I WENT AND SPOKE WITH THE MANAGER AND EXPLAINED IT TO HIM AND HE INFORMED ME TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT DAY AND THEY WOULD PUT IT UP AND LOOK AT IT. THE NEXT DAY I WAS ILL AND CALLED AND WENT THE FOLLOWING WEEK. ANOTHER MANAGER DID NOT DO THAT, BUT RATHER DROVE IT AND SAID IT FELT FINE. I INSISTED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. HE STATED HE COULD HEAR NOTHING.A WEEK LATER IT IS RAINING HEAVILY AND THIS CAR IS VERY UNSTABLE FEELING. I CALL THE SALESMAN AND TELL HIM THAT THE STEERING FEELS LOOSE AND AND SOMETHING IS WRONG. THE SALESMAN WAS SHORT WITH ME AND SAID "YOU ARE JUST USED TO DRIVING YOUR BMW". I TOLD HIM THAT HE WAS WRONG AND THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT. HE TOLD ME "TAKE IT TO ISUZU". THIS WAS WELL WITHIN THE 30 DAYS. LATER ON DRIVING OVER 60 THE CAR STEERING WOULD SHAKE AND IT FELT TERRIBLE AND UNSAFE. I GO TO HONDA AND INSIST SOMETHING IS WRONG, BUT NO ONE WILL PUT IT UP AND LOOK AT IT!!. WE GET THE PAPERS OUT AND DISCOVER WHERE CALIPER PINS WERE DONE, AND BACK BRAKES AND PADS DONE. THEN WE FIND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL IN 2005 FOR THE FUEL LEAK AND POSSIBLE FIRES? THEY NEVER DISCLOSED THIS TO US. WE JUST PUT BACK BRAKES ON AND THEY SAID THEY WERE DISENGRATED? THE SHOCKS GONE, STRUT RE-ASSEMBLY ADJUSTMENT? 1400 MILES LATER, THEY SAID THEY DID THAT ALREADY? HONDA SAID WE DROVE WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON? FOR 1400 MILES? THEY TOLD US THE BRAKES WERE BAD! THAT THEY HAD NEARLY HOLES IN THEM. NO WONDER! DO I HAVE ANY RE-COURSE AGAINST THEM. DOES THIS FALL UNDER CONSUMER FRAUD? *CN

NOTE: TOOK THE RODEO THROUGH HIGH PRESSURE AUTOMATIC CARWASH THE EVENING BEFORE, NOTICED WHEN THE HIGH PRESSURE SOAP WAS APPLIED AS I SAT IN THE VEHICLE, SOAP CAME THROUGH ONTO MY HEAVY DUTY MATS FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE FIRE WALL AREA. THE SOAP PUDDLED ONTO THE MAT, WAS DRY THIS MORNING WHEN I GOT IN TO COME TO WORK THIS MORNING. THEN THE TACH FAILURE OCCURRED.   • Summary: Isuzu Manufacturing Services of America, Inc (Isuzu) is recalling certain model year 2003-2004 Rodeo and Axiom, and 2003 Rodeo Sport vehicles that were originally sold in, or are currently registered in, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Kentucky and Missouri. These vehicles may experience excessive corrosion near the forward mounting point bracket for the left or right rear suspension lower link.
  • Consequence: The corrosion may allow the bracket to detach from the frame, impacting vehicle handling and increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Isuzu will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear suspension lower link bracket area. For vehicles in which little or no corrosion is found, the area will be treated with an anti-corrosive compound. For vehicles in which corrosion has damaged the rear suspension lower link bracket and affected its connection to the vehicle frame, a reinforcement bracket will be installed. In the event the corrosion is so severe that the reinforcement bracket remedy would not be sufficient, Isuzu will offer to repurchase the vehicle for an amount based on the Kelley Blue Book "Private Party" price. All inspections and remedies will be provided free of charge for vehicles that are 10 years old or less. For vehicles older than 10 years, Isuzu will offer a free remedy, but only if the vehicle is presented to an Isuzu service facility dealer within 12 months of when owner notifications were issued, after that time owners will be charged for the repairs. The recall is expected to begin in mid-December 2013. Isuzu owners may contact Isuzu at 1-800-255-6727.

SILICON HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED IN THE FUEL SYSTEMS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES AND IN CERTAIN FUEL AVAILABLE IN THE REGION OF TYLER, TEXAS. THIS RECALL WILL BE LAUNCHED FOR VEHICLES REGISTERED IN TEXAS AND THE FOUR SURROUNDING STATES: OKLAHOMA, ARKANSAS, NEW MEXICO AND LOUISIANA.
  • Consequence: A FUEL LEAK COULD LEAD TO A VEHICLE FIRE.
  • Remedy: FOR VEHICLES REGISTERED IN THE STATES IDENTIFIED ABOVE, DEALERS WILL PROVIDE A NEW COVER OVER THE EXISTING FEED PORT ON THE FUEL PUMP OR, IF THE EXISTING FEED PORT HAS ALREADY BEEN DAMAGED, DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW FUEL PUMP THAT IS EQUIPPED WITH THE NEW COVER.     The dealership has informed me that they will not cover warranty work. However, I have noticed several issues with my vehicle, such as the ignition sticking, idling at 1600rpm's all the time, and clunking in the rear end when leaving a stop light. Despite taking it in twice before for the ignition sticking, I was not informed that this was a design feature. I am disappointed with the quality of the vehicle and will not be purchasing another one in the future.

    I believe that this SUV is an excellent choice for small families and single individuals. Unlike some other SUVs, it is not too large and overwhelming. Instead, it strikes a perfect balance as a midsize vehicle with a powerful V6 engine. The four-wheel drive is also great for off-roading or driving in snowy conditions.     It's functional and simplistic. Maybe it was the ease of getting in and out. Maybe it just makes you feel cool. I don't know. I drove it a while ago and would be hard-pressed to describe why I liked it so much. The suspension could be better, but I usually drive in stop-and-go traffic. The only time I really tax a suspension is when accelerating off a steep parking lot down onto a street at an angle. I don't think a soft suspension is bad as long as you're not rocking side to side.

My 1993 Pick Up was the best ever, my Copper 2000 Amigo was sitting on dubs, and now my new 2004 Rodeo has me feeling over the moon. Isuzu's motto should be 'add gas, oil, and go' because I have never had a problem with any of their vehicles. If you're looking for an SUV that is reliable and won't cost you an arm and a leg to maintain, look no further!
