Infiniti Fx35 problems

The Infiniti QX70, formerly called the Infiniti FX until 2013, is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by the Nissan-owned Infiniti luxury vehicle brand between 2002 and 2017. The FX replaced the QX4 as Infiniti's mid-size SUV. It shares the same FM platform as the rear-wheel drive Nissan 370Z, and it "made no claims of climbing mountains." Rather, its aggressive shape promised style and quick handling. The similarly sized Nissan Murano is based on the same D platform as the front-wheel drive Nissan Altima. The FX does not have a Nissan-branded equivalent and is not sold in Japan.
The FX introduced its second generation for the 2009 model year as the FX35 and FX50.
First generation (S50; 2003)
The nameplates FX35 and FX45 refer to the two available engines. The FX35 is available in two drivetrains, the RWD and the AWD, which are both fitted to a dual overhead cam 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 VQ35DE gasoline engine, with aluminum-alloy block and heads, electronically controlled throttle system, and low-friction molybdenum-coated pistons that makes use of the continuous variable valve timing which in part optimizes the opening of intake valves. This is also coupled with an electronically controlled super-wide ratio five-speed automatic with a manumatic shift mode that includes the option of sequentially selected manual gearshifts and downshift rev-matching.
The AWD FX45 incorporates a 4.5 L (4,494 cc) 32-valve V8 DOHC VK45DE gasoline engine with four valves per cylinder, microfinished camshafts with aluminum-alloy block and heads, low-friction molybdenum-coated pistons, titanium intake and exhaust valves, modular cylinder heads, microfinished crankshaft, lightweight pistons, super-silent single stage cam drive chain, and a Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System that optimizes opening of intake valves. Development began in 1999 under newly appointed CEO Carlos Ghosn's NRP. Design work was completed in rapid succession in 2000, for late 2002 production. Designed prior to that, earlier on in 2000 under the "Bionic Cheetah" theme, the 2001 Infiniti FX45 Concept was introduced at the NAIAS in January 2001. From mid-2001, a new concept based on the production design was developed and completed in late 2001. Sketches were first released in late November 2001. The second-generation 2002 FX45 Concept was introduced in January 2002 at the NAIAS '02 as a thinly-veiled production FX (S50) and planned production was announced for early 2003. In January 2003, the 2003 FX45 made its debut at the 2003 NAIAS and went on sale January 24, 2003.
In 2003 for the 2004 model, changes were the addition of a standard eight-way power front passenger seat that replaced the previous four-way design, the availability of aluminum roof rails and chrome-plated 20-inch wheels. Also new were a dark silver metallic finish for the 20-inch wheels (non-chrome-plated), the addition of a standard HVAC filter for all models and the addition of a new Snow-Mode function.
In September 2004 for the 2005 model year, the FX range received enhancements such as a lane departure warning (LDW) system that helps alert drivers to an unintended movement of the vehicle out of a designated traffic lane. Infiniti's system monitored the lane markings to alert passengers via an audible buzzer that the driver is drifting unintentionally. The LDW system, which utilizes a small camera, speed sensor, an indicator, and an audible warning buzzer, was offered on models. The 2005 Infiniti FX was the first passenger vehicle to offer a lane departure warning system in the United States market. In addition to LDW, the 2005 Infiniti FX range was now equipped with standard roof-mounted curtain supplemental curtain airbags with rollover protection for front and rear outboard seat occupants.
Other changes included the addition of a dark chrome grille, headlight, and clear taillight accents to the FX45 (also available as part of the V6 Sport Package on FX35 models), a new key fob design for the Infiniti Intelligent Key system, and two new exterior colors, Sapphire and Sheer Platinum. Interior changes included a new standard etched aluminum trim.
Total 2007 sales of the FX45 were 1,598 units, about a tenth of the FX35s.

Vehicle year: 2005
I have always admired those who drove the Infinity FX35 since 2003, and in August of 2005, I finally had the chance to sit in one. I was immediately impressed by the pearl white metallic exterior and wheat colored interior. As someone with a back problem, finding the right combination of seat adjustments is crucial for me. Luckily, the FX35 had everything I needed - a perfect seat height, power recline, power adjustable lumbar support, and a firm seat. The power tilt/telescopic steering was also a great feature that accommodated my need to recline the seat back. I spent an hour and a half just sitting in the car, testing out the different adjustments. When the salesman came out to check on me, I assured him that everything was perfect. He even offered me a test drive, which I couldn't resist. After driving the car for half an hour, I was sold. The FX35 was not only stylish, but it also had a powerful motor, great handling, and a smooth ride. I felt proud as I left the dealership with the keys to my dream car. Over the past 12 and a half years, I have taken good care of my FX35, replacing the battery and tires, changing the oil and filter as required, and having it detailed every spring. The only issue I had was with the headlights, which were replaced for free due to a factory recall. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase and would highly recommend the Infinity FX35 to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish car.To this day, whenever I approach my FX35, I can't help but smile. It's a feeling that only other FX35 owners can understand - a sense of pride and performance that comes with owning such a rare and beautiful car. Even when I'm stopped at a light or in a parking lot, I find myself exchanging knowing smiles with other FX35 owners. It's a special bond that we share. Unfortunately, Infinity announced that 2018 would be the last year they would manufacture the FX35, and while they plan to offer an electric model by 2022, it's just not the same. As a 75-year-old who only drives 3,500 miles per year, I plan to drive my FX35 'Until I Die'. Sure, the gas mileage isn't great, but it's a small price to pay for such a wonderful driving experience. And while I don't have navigation or Bluetooth, I have my trusty smartphone to keep me connected. I just can't imagine driving anything else.

The FX35 is truly an All Season Sportscar, perfect for those who want a sports car that can be driven year-round and in adverse conditions. While it may not be the most spacious or utilitarian car, it makes up for it in performance and style. Speaking of style, the FX35's striking design is sure to turn heads and make a statement on the road. Kudos to Infiniti for bringing a production car that looks like its concept sibling. Now, let's talk about performance. I had the pleasure of taking a high-performance driving course with this car, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The brakes may look small next to the 20Couple that with the rakish coupe roofline, and you have a low and wide opening that makes loading crates next to impossible. However, the rear seats fold down nicely, and the roof is considerably higher above the rear seats if you want to play some back seat tetris with your cargo. On the plus side, because the roof is rakish and the hinge of the rear hatch is located so far forward, you can back the vehicle into a garage, and the hatch can still open even with only about a foot of space to the wall. Try doing that with other SUVs! In terms of utility off-road, it does quite well in light off-roading, such as snow, mud, gravel, or inclement weather conditions. With a good set of winter tires, the vehicle can handle snow-covered mountain forest service roads without any drama (I have AWD). The interior is also a very welcoming and cozy space. The ambient lighting in the door handles is a very elegant touch, particularly if you have the maple accents. There are even footwell accent lights, but they are so dim (unless you swap them to LEDs) that they are not visible other than in the darkest of nights. The seats are very comfortable and well-supported - no fatigue or butt cramps after long drives whatsoever. Surfaces you are often in contact with are covered with soft leather material that just makes the whole cabin feel very luxurious. The backseat can recline to a very comfortable angle. The technology in the vehicle also leaves very little to be desired. I do not have the adaptive cruise control or lane departure warning systems, so I can't speak to those. However, the surround view camera is absolutely brilliant. I call it The Bose audio system is crisp and clear. If you love listening to CDs, you'll be pleased to know that the car can store all your tracks on its hard drive, so you don't have to carry a stack of CDs with you. The navigation system is also well-voiced. The voice recognition is fast, although it can't take in a whole chunk of address at a time. Unlike some German car designs, the screen is a touchscreen, and the recessed setup makes it easily legible even in bright conditions. Another interior feature that I really like is when you first get behind the wheel and turn the vehicle on, the steering column lowers and moves towards you while the seat slides forward to your set seating position. The sequence is reversed when you get out of the vehicle. It really makes it feel like you're getting behind an X-Wing or something. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this All Season Sportscar. Even after two years, it still brings a smile to my face every time I get behind the wheel, and I still catch myself admiring its lines.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with you about a car that I recently discovered. I was at my local Infiniti dealer and stumbled upon the FX model. I was immediately drawn to it and couldn't take my eyes off of it! I used to drive a Boxster 's' and was looking for something bigger without sacrificing handling. I test drove all the usual suspects like the Cayenne, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, but none of them compared to the FX. The German cars were great, but the interiors felt sterile and unintuitive. I was really impressed with the FX's MPG too - I get an average of 24 when I'm being a good boy. Thanks for listening to my story!

If you've ever driven a sport design SUV like the FX35, FX45 or the BMW X6, you'll know that they're in a league of their own compared to other SUVs. Living in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area, I need a car that can handle heavy traffic with ease, and the FX is perfect for that. It's agile and handles more like a sport car than an SUV - it's like driving a sedan on steroids! I have the 2005 FX35S sport package with the larger rims, and it's already equipped with everything I need for an aggressive driving experience - 300HP and a sport exhaust system. The interior is also super cool, especially with the light cream interior and excellent attention to detail. - M. Pop

I recently purchased the 2007 FX35 AWD with Sport package, after test driving several SUVs and crossovers. While I love the stylish exterior and interior, I have found the ride to be quite stiff and the fuel economy to be around 15-16mpg, regardless of the grade of gas or type of driving. Additionally, the back seat can be difficult to get in and out of, and the exhaust system is quite noisy. Although I wish the ride was smoother and quieter, I still appreciate the beauty of this vehicle.

Despite purchasing what I thought would be a wonderful and reliable vehicle, I experienced problems from day one, particularly with steering wheel vibrations. Despite Infiniti replacing the steering rack and associated linkage, the issue persisted, even at higher speeds. I tried replacing the tires and other measures, but unfortunately, nothing seemed to work. Eventually, I decided to trade it in for an 07 MDX. Additionally, I experienced a lot of rattles in the FX. However, I am confident that I made the right decision in trading it in for a more reliable vehicle.

I have enjoyed driving my FX as it is sporty and capable. However, I have had some issues with the build quality and customer service. Unfortunately, Infiniti used subpar materials on their dashes which tend to bubble in the heat, resulting in an unsightly rash-like appearance on the dashboard. Although Infiniti replaced it once 3 years ago as part of a recall, my recent experience was not as positive. Despite the warranty on the dash being extended to 8 years, Infiniti refused to cover the cost of repair for my 3-year-old vehicle. As a result, I am disappointed with the overall experience and would not recommend purchasing an Infiniti.

Approaching its 5-year anniversary and with 99,000 miles on the clock, it's time to say goodbye to my Infiniti. While it had great power and handling, the ride was quite rough. However, after replacing the factory tires at 17k, it handled snow well. Unfortunately, the turning radius was poor and the exhaust noise was quite tiring on the ears. The instrument layout and function left a lot to be desired, with lots of cheap plastic and rattles, and the air controls were frustrating. The entire dash panel blistered badly, likely due to defective manufacturing or materials, and there was no support from the dealer or manufacturer for this issue. Despite close maintenance, the car is falling apart mechanically, with wheel bearings failing right off the lot, the complete exhaust system rotting, and the front end and steering shot. Regrettably, I won't be purchasing an Infiniti again, as the price simply doesn't match the reliability.

The transmission not only fails to upshift smoothly, but it also causes the engine to rev up to 5k as I am pulling in to a stop, which is a dangerous situation. This issue is similar to the one experienced by others and reminds me of the mid-80's Audi. In addition, the Nav screen functions intermittently, the iPod does not charge, and the brakes pull to the left and right. Overall, this machine is not satisfactory. However, it is on a 4-year corporate lease.
