Infiniti Fx35 problems
The Infiniti QX70, formerly called the Infiniti FX until 2013, is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by the Nissan-owned Infiniti luxury vehicle brand between 2002 and 2017. The FX replaced the QX4 as Infiniti's mid-size SUV. It shares the same FM platform as the rear-wheel drive Nissan 370Z, and it "made no claims of climbing mountains." Rather, its aggressive shape promised style and quick handling. The similarly sized Nissan Murano is based on the same D platform as the front-wheel drive Nissan Altima. The FX does not have a Nissan-branded equivalent and is not sold in Japan.
The FX introduced its second generation for the 2009 model year as the FX35 and FX50.
First generation (S50; 2003)
The nameplates FX35 and FX45 refer to the two available engines. The FX35 is available in two drivetrains, the RWD and the AWD, which are both fitted to a dual overhead cam 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 VQ35DE gasoline engine, with aluminum-alloy block and heads, electronically controlled throttle system, and low-friction molybdenum-coated pistons that makes use of the continuous variable valve timing which in part optimizes the opening of intake valves. This is also coupled with an electronically controlled super-wide ratio five-speed automatic with a manumatic shift mode that includes the option of sequentially selected manual gearshifts and downshift rev-matching.
The AWD FX45 incorporates a 4.5 L (4,494 cc) 32-valve V8 DOHC VK45DE gasoline engine with four valves per cylinder, microfinished camshafts with aluminum-alloy block and heads, low-friction molybdenum-coated pistons, titanium intake and exhaust valves, modular cylinder heads, microfinished crankshaft, lightweight pistons, super-silent single stage cam drive chain, and a Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System that optimizes opening of intake valves. Development began in 1999 under newly appointed CEO Carlos Ghosn's NRP. Design work was completed in rapid succession in 2000, for late 2002 production. Designed prior to that, earlier on in 2000 under the "Bionic Cheetah" theme, the 2001 Infiniti FX45 Concept was introduced at the NAIAS in January 2001. From mid-2001, a new concept based on the production design was developed and completed in late 2001. Sketches were first released in late November 2001. The second-generation 2002 FX45 Concept was introduced in January 2002 at the NAIAS '02 as a thinly-veiled production FX (S50) and planned production was announced for early 2003. In January 2003, the 2003 FX45 made its debut at the 2003 NAIAS and went on sale January 24, 2003.
In 2003 for the 2004 model, changes were the addition of a standard eight-way power front passenger seat that replaced the previous four-way design, the availability of aluminum roof rails and chrome-plated 20-inch wheels. Also new were a dark silver metallic finish for the 20-inch wheels (non-chrome-plated), the addition of a standard HVAC filter for all models and the addition of a new Snow-Mode function.
In September 2004 for the 2005 model year, the FX range received enhancements such as a lane departure warning (LDW) system that helps alert drivers to an unintended movement of the vehicle out of a designated traffic lane. Infiniti's system monitored the lane markings to alert passengers via an audible buzzer that the driver is drifting unintentionally. The LDW system, which utilizes a small camera, speed sensor, an indicator, and an audible warning buzzer, was offered on models. The 2005 Infiniti FX was the first passenger vehicle to offer a lane departure warning system in the United States market. In addition to LDW, the 2005 Infiniti FX range was now equipped with standard roof-mounted curtain supplemental curtain airbags with rollover protection for front and rear outboard seat occupants.
Other changes included the addition of a dark chrome grille, headlight, and clear taillight accents to the FX45 (also available as part of the V6 Sport Package on FX35 models), a new key fob design for the Infiniti Intelligent Key system, and two new exterior colors, Sapphire and Sheer Platinum. Interior changes included a new standard etched aluminum trim.
Total 2007 sales of the FX45 were 1,598 units, about a tenth of the FX35s.

I recently purchased the FX35 2008 after admiring its aggressive exterior on the road time and again. The car is everything it's said to be. It's like a G35 with an SUV exterior. The acceleration is responsive and immediate, and the addition of iPod connectivity is nice (although not perfect). The luxury features are impressive, including bluetooth, NAV, and XM satellite radio. The gas mileage is a little weak (I'm averaging in the high teens/low 20's), but that is somewhat expected with the V6 275 HP. The BOSE sound system is fun to listen to, and all in all, I am quite satisfied with the FX. I would definitely recommend it!

Owned since new. It's been a great mix of performance, reliability, and value. With over 205k miles and still going strong. I've had modifications done to improve handling by adding adjustable suspension and lower tires, which makes this already great handling and steady SUV an absolute dream to drive, especially around tight corners.

I leased a 2WD FX35 in 2004 and then traded it 18 months later for a much larger SUV due to a particular family circumstance at the time. However, I have always missed the FX. Fortunately, circumstances have changed again and I was delighted to find a used 04 FX35 AWD with both the technology and touring packages. With only 65,000 miles on the odometer, the FX is just as tight and responsive as the new '04 I leased several years ago. The handling, braking, acceleration, and signature exhaust sound have taken me back to the vehicle that I have missed the most out of every other vehicle I have owned or leased - and there have been a lot of them. This is truly a driver's car that keeps you in touch with the road.

I recently purchased this vehicle with 21k miles and have been enjoying it for the past 2 weeks. My wife and I both love driving it while running errands. I was considering the Rx330, but found it to be a bit too plush for my liking. I prefer a car with road feel and aggressive acceleration, which is why we ultimately chose the FX. While the Lexus may have a nicer interior, the FX dominates in all other aspects. I have driven many luxury car brands, including Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Acura, and Infiniti, and I must say that the FX has a great feel and is extremely solid. Every time I approach the driver's door with my keys, I feel excited!

This is my third Infiniti after driving an '04 FX and an '05 G35, which I enjoyed tremendously. Although I was excited about the new and improved FX for '09, I have been disappointed with its performance. I have experienced some issues with the shifting, especially in slow and go traffic, where it seems to struggle to find the right gear. However, I have found that it performs great from a stop. I have also noticed that it can be a bit jarring when coming to a stop. Overall, I still appreciate the incredible new styling, but I hope that Infiniti can address these performance issues in future models. :)

The car has some great power and features, and I particularly love the back-up camera. The controls are very easy to use, which is a plus. However, I did find that the rear seat belts are quite difficult to buckle, as they are jammed down practically into the seats. It took my 6-year-old months to be able to do it, and even I found it challenging at times. Additionally, I noticed that the A/C has a moldy smell, which is a bit disappointing given that the car only has 8K miles on it. The headlights don't shine out far enough, despite adjusting them, which is a bit of a letdown. The gas mileage is not great either. Lastly, the window squeaks when rolling down, and although I have complained twice already, it still squeaks. Overall, it's a good car, but I'm not sure if I would buy it again.

I wrote a review 2 years ago when I leased the car, but now after 2 years 30k miles later I've changed my opinion. The FX is purely eye candy and has no uses as an SUV. It lacks in space (trunk area is half of any other SUV & passenger leg room is minimal) and my family of 4 barely fits in the car (can't even take road trips because it's so small). The snow feature sounds like a tonka truck falling down stairs when it activates. Services cost more than my BMW M3 and parts are very expensive. If the weather gets below 32 degrees the car's performance and driver-feel becomes sub-par. After I hit 20k miles the car started to feel like it had 80k miles. I would not purchase this car again!

Although I appreciate Infiniti for fixing some of the issues at no cost, it is still a nuisance that the car's door lock fails intermittently depending on ambient temperature, the leather seat splits at an unusual area, the fuel gauge does not function properly, and the dashboard starts to blister and bubble. Additionally, the power rearview mirror does not readjust properly at times. As a long-time Honda Accord owner, I have never experienced these problems. Infiniti should strive to improve their vehicles to match the reliability of other brands.
