The Hyundai Grandeur (Korean: 현대 그랜저) is an executive sedan manufactured and marketed by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1986, over five generations.

From 1986 to 1996, the Grandeur was the flagship for Hyundai's South Korean range before the Hyundai Dynasty was introduced. It is marketed globally as the Hyundai Azera. As the Azera, it was the flagship of Hyundai's US and Canadian lineup until the arrival of the Genesis sedan. After the launch of the separate Genesis brand, the Grandeur/Azera resumed its place as the company's flagship.

As of the 2017 model year, the Azera is no longer marketed in the United States and Canada. The sedan continued to be available in South Korea and the Middle East.

MORE RECENTLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR WAS BUCKING WHILE IN GEAR AND LUNGING WHILE AT A DEAD STOP. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS TO REPLACE THE INDUCTION VALVE, THROTTLE BODY AND GASKET, AIR FLOW SENSOR. (THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PART ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY WAS WHAT I WAS TOLD) AND AFTER 2 WEEKS AND $375.00 FOR A 30,000 MILE CHECK, THE NEXT DAY THE CARE DID THE SAME THING. RETURNED THE CAR THEY KEPT IT 1 DAY STATING IT WAS COMPUTER PROBLEM AND THAT NIGHT THE CAR WAS STILL BUCKING WHILE STOPPED. I WILL ATTEMPT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AGAIN BUT I BELIEVE THIS CAR TO BE DEFECTIVE. THIS CAR HAS ALSO BEEN TOWED 3 TIMES. 2001 Hyundai Xg300 recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2001 Hyundai Xg300.

2009-04-16
  • Manufacturer: Hyundai Motor Company
  • Components: SUSPENSION
  • Summary: HYUNDAI IS RECALLING 188,282 MY 2001-2004 SONATA AND MY 2001-2004 XG300 AND XG350 VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. ROAD SALT APPLIED IN THESE JURISDICTIONS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS MAY RESULT IN PROGRESSIVE, INTERNAL CORROSION OF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME ON THE VEHICLES, AND MAY RESULT IN THINNING OR PERFORATION OF THE SUB-FRAME STEEL. THE CORROSION IS FREQUENTLY VISIBLE AND OFTEN DISCOVERED DURING INSPECTION OR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, AND OWNERS MAY ALSO HEAR NOISES OR NOTICE TIRE MISALIGNMENT AND STEERING PULL. IF THESE SIGNALS ARE UNDETECTED OR UNHEEDED, THE CORROSION MAY PROGRESS AND THE FORWARD MOUNTING OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM MAY DETACH FROM THE SUB-FRAME.
  • Consequence: IF THAT HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE MAY LOSE DRIVE POWER TO THE WHEELS, AND THE FRONT WHEEL MAY MAKE CONTACT WITH THE FENDER OR WHEEL WELL, THEREBY INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL MEASURE THE THICKNESS OF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME AND INSPECT THE FRONT SUB-FRAME FOR CORROSION DAMAGE AND, IF NECESSARY, THE FRONT SUB-FRAME WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW SUB-FRAME THAT INCORPORATES ADDITIONAL HOLES IN THE UPPER AND LOWER PANELS. IF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME DOES NOT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT, THE DEALER WILL ADD DRAINAGE HOLES TO THE SUB-FRAME AND WILL TREAT THE SUB-FRAME WITH RUST-PROOFING MATERIAL TO STOP THE CORROSION PROCESS. THIS PROCEDURE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-633-5151.
2002-04-09
  • Manufacturer: HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY
  • Components: AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW
  • Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION THAT LEADS TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION COULD RESULT FROM MOTION OF THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS AND SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WHICH MOUNT TO THE ADJUSTABLE SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY. Negative 2001 Hyundai Xg300 car reviews

  1. Chelsey Oberbrunner 2024-11-20

I was a little nervous at first because the expert reviewers gave the XG300 at best an average review. Wish I had followed my instincts. However, I did experience some issues with the car, having to tow it to the shop four times in seven months. Interestingly, I know someone else that still has a 300, and she is having the same problems I did. While the car did get me more comments than any other I've driven, looks don't guarantee dependability.

  2. Don Runolfsson 2024-09-01

The XG300 may experience a slight shutter when shifting from 3rd to 4th gear, which is a common issue in the '01 model. Despite being the second owner of the car and the non-transferrable 100K drive-train warranty, which is now invalid, and the null-and-void extended warranty due to the dealership's bankruptcy, I am confident that I will find a solution to my problem. I have contacted Hyundai directly, and I am sure that they will assist me in resolving this issue.

I bought this car when the new 2002 Maximas were introduced. I was considering both, but ended up choosing the Hyundai due to financial reasons. It had most of the options that the Maxima had, except for the horsepower. Unfortunately, the Hyundai feels sluggish and doesn't even feel like it has 190 HP. It turns out that Hyundai provided incorrect information on the vehicle's specs and didn't inform owners until the fall of 2002. The car actually has 180 HP, which makes a difference. As a result, I am joining a class action lawsuit.

I purchased this car brand new in 2001 and affectionately referred to it as my 'Poor Man's Lexus.' The initial quality was excellent, but unfortunately, I had to replace the transmission at 90k. Thankfully, Hyundai covered the cost. I did experience some shuddering, as mentioned in an earlier post, but overall, the car has been reliable. The only downside is that repairs can be quite expensive due to the need for genuine Hyundai parts. The check engine light does come on frequently, but it's usually a minor issue with the oil or oxygen sensors. Unfortunately, I have been informed that the catalytic converters need to be replaced, which is a costly repair. As a result, I have decided it's time to part ways with my beloved car.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2001 XG300L. I bought it used in Feb of 2005 with only 26,419 miles on it. It's been a great car overall, but I have noticed a slight shudder when the auto transmission shifts, as mentioned in another review. I recently took it to a local transmission shop for routine service (since the warranty didn't transfer) and they didn't seem too concerned, so I'm keeping an eye on it. I was hoping for better gas mileage, as I'm only getting 19-20 mpg in the city on good days! Other than these minor concerns, I really like my car.

Hi there! I noticed that you're interested in purchasing a 2004 model. I just wanted to let you know that I have a 13000 model that is still in great condition. Let me know if you're interested!

  2. Cleveland Rolfson 2025-01-03

I bought this car from a licensed independent dealer 2 years ago. It has 188,000 miles on it and it's still going strong! It has only been in the shop twice for minor issues...fingers crossed it stays that way.

  3. Melany Jerde 2024-11-19

The car has been amazing! It's been smooth, quiet, and so much fun to drive. We've only had to change the oil and buy new tires, so our expenses have been minimal.

  4. Eliseo Boyer 2024-11-11

It's great to hear that your car has only been in the shop once, and that the dealer was able to restore it to factory quality. It's also wonderful to know that your car gets good mileage and rides well. I can see why people would mistake it for a Lincoln!

  5. Darien Abbott 2024-10-25

I have had some issues with my car, including having to replace the tensioners and belts multiple times, as well as the alternator at 50,000 miles. Additionally, there has been a shudder when slowing down from high speeds. However, I am concerned about the recent incident where the car's engine stopped suddenly while driving at 60 mph. I believe this is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed. Despite my dissatisfaction with the dealership's service, my regular mechanic was able to fix the issue. I did experience some paint peeling on the driver side running board after 2 years, but I understand that this is not necessarily the dealership's responsibility.
