The Hyundai Grandeur (Korean: 현대 그랜저) is an executive sedan manufactured and marketed by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1986, over five generations.

From 1986 to 1996, the Grandeur was the flagship for Hyundai's South Korean range before the Hyundai Dynasty was introduced. It is marketed globally as the Hyundai Azera. As the Azera, it was the flagship of Hyundai's US and Canadian lineup until the arrival of the Genesis sedan. After the launch of the separate Genesis brand, the Grandeur/Azera resumed its place as the company's flagship.

As of the 2017 model year, the Azera is no longer marketed in the United States and Canada. The sedan continued to be available in South Korea and the Middle East.

  • Date Of Incident: 2007-10-20
  • VIN: KMHWF25H83A
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
  • Summary: WRITER HAS A 2003 SONATA. MY DRIVERS REAR CALIPER WOULD WEAR DOWN THE BRAKE PADS VERY FAST AND THE OTHERS WOULD BE LIKE NEW. AFTER 2 VISITS THE CALIPER WAS REPLACED. AFTER 2 DAYS OF SITTING IN THE GARAGE I'D BACK THE CAR UP AND HEAR GRINDING. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS JUST RUST ON THE ROTOR AND IT STOPPED AFTER DRIVING A FEW MINUTES. AFTER BEING PUT IN STORAGE OVER THE SUMMER TO DRIVE MY SPORTS CAR DURING THE SUMMER I WENT TO DRIVER THE SONATA. WHILE SITTING IN THE WAREHOUSE DURING SUMMER ALL FOUR ROTORS RUSTED UP BEYOND BEING ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY. AND THE FRONT CALIPERS SEIZED UP. THE ROTORS LOOKED LIKE THE CAR HAD 150,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE MY SPORTS CAR STORED IN THE SAME PLACE THROUGH WINTER AND THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE FINE IN SPRING. THE GENERAL MANAGER FROM THE DEALER SAYS THEY WILL CHECK IT OUT AND SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE. THE CAR ONLY HAS 50000 MILE ON IT. I'VE NEVER SEEN A CARS ROTORS AND BRAKES DO THIS. NEITHER HAS THE MECHANICS I FIRST TOOK IT TO. THE MECHANIC DROVE IT AND HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. *TR

2003 Hyundai Xg300 recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 1 recalls for different components of the 2003 Hyundai Xg300.

2009-04-16
  • Manufacturer: Hyundai Motor Company
  • Components: SUSPENSION
  • Summary: HYUNDAI IS RECALLING 188,282 MY 2001-2004 SONATA AND MY 2001-2004 XG300 AND XG350 VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. ROAD SALT APPLIED IN THESE JURISDICTIONS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS MAY RESULT IN PROGRESSIVE, INTERNAL CORROSION OF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME ON THE VEHICLES, AND MAY RESULT IN THINNING OR PERFORATION OF THE SUB-FRAME STEEL. THE CORROSION IS FREQUENTLY VISIBLE AND OFTEN DISCOVERED DURING INSPECTION OR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, AND OWNERS MAY ALSO HEAR NOISES OR NOTICE TIRE MISALIGNMENT AND STEERING PULL. IF THESE SIGNALS ARE UNDETECTED OR UNHEEDED, THE CORROSION MAY PROGRESS AND THE FORWARD MOUNTING OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM MAY DETACH FROM THE SUB-FRAME.
  • Consequence: IF THAT HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE MAY LOSE DRIVE POWER TO THE WHEELS, AND THE FRONT WHEEL MAY MAKE CONTACT WITH THE FENDER OR WHEEL WELL, THEREBY INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL MEASURE THE THICKNESS OF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME AND INSPECT THE FRONT SUB-FRAME FOR CORROSION DAMAGE AND, IF NECESSARY, THE FRONT SUB-FRAME WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW SUB-FRAME THAT INCORPORATES ADDITIONAL HOLES IN THE UPPER AND LOWER PANELS. IF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME DOES NOT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT, THE DEALER WILL ADD DRAINAGE HOLES TO THE SUB-FRAME AND WILL TREAT THE SUB-FRAME WITH RUST-PROOFING MATERIAL TO STOP THE CORROSION PROCESS. THIS PROCEDURE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-633-5151.
