YESTERDAY (8/12/20) THEY TOLD US THAT IT WOULD TAKE 6 TO 8 WEEKS TO REPAIR THE CAR. THIS IS FISHY, THE CAR WA IN THE CHICAGO AUTO SHOW AND ENDED UP AT OUR DEALER. I BELIEVE THEY SOLD US A BETA MODEL. BUT THEY WILL NOT ADMIT TO ANYTHING. WE HAVE NEVER HAD HEADQUARTERS OF ANY CAR MANUFACTURER GETTING INVOLVED AFTER AN ACCIDENT. MONDAY OUR CAR RENTAL PAYN=MENT BY OUR INSURANCE COMPANY WILL END AND WE WILL NOT HAVE A CAR AVAILABLE. SO FAR HYUNDAI DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE.

It's such a great car!

I've driven everything from a scooter to a boat (crown vic) and I must say that this car is somewhere in between. I bought it at the start of the pandemic and only needed to buy gas once a month. I typically drive at night in Los Angeles. The car is very responsive, has excellent safety features, and is quite comfortable when stuck in traffic. Breaking in an engine is important when buying a new car for it to run properly down the line. I just drove from Sacramento down to LA and made great time. It hugs the turns and made it through the grapevine while the wife slept comfortably in the front seat. The sound system is great, the head unit is easy to use (though I haven't tried to update it), the climate control is excellent, there's a good amount of space, and the headroom is okay. It's very easy to maintain and comes with a long warranty.

This car is new to the US market and all claims about its performance come from the manufacturer. It can drive 30 miles purely on electric power and then the small engine starts, allowing you to drive 650 miles on a single tank of gas. Sounds very attractive! However, my personal problem with the Ioniq plug-in is that the number of cars available at dealerships is very limited and all cars are marked up $2-3K over MSRP. Unfortunately, I was not able to find a silver Ioniq plug-in within a 100-mile radius. Additionally, this car has no discounts from the dealership/manufacturer at all! There is a federal tax credit of $4500, but it is not clear if it is applicable to the 2019 model. When I called the IRS, they suggested that I apply and see what happens. In conclusion, it is an interesting car, but it is overpriced and there are limited options available at dealerships.

I really enjoyed this car, although there was a slight hesitation when applying the gas from a standstill. It would have been great if the trunk could open automatically with just the FOB. Additionally, I wish the rear seats had heating, especially since it is the limited version. It would have been helpful to have front cameras as well. Lastly, I think it would have been a nice touch to have air-conditioned seats, again because it's the limited version.

I received a $800 rebate and a $1,500 rebate right after purchasing the car, not to mention the $4,000 federal tax credit. In the end, it only cost me around $20,000. The car is amazing, whether you are using electric or petrol, with 27 miles full electric (it says 29... but that's only if you don't run the AC or heater), then 50 mpg when on gas. I have had it for over a year without any problems at all, and it comes with the best warranty in the business. It's the best car I have ever owned. The only reason the car doesn't have higher sales is because it can only be bought in California! I have had one minor issue, however. If it is 110 degrees outside, the electric charging cable will get stuck in the car charging port, and cannot be pulled out unless you release it with the manual override under the hood (it's a spring you tug on). But this only happens about once or twice a year, and only if it's extremely hot outside like 110. Having to pop the hood for a few seconds once a year is only a minor annoyance, so no biggie.

I would not recommend this car due to some issues with the entertainment unit, water pump, 2 sensors, and the regenerative braking system, despite the car only having 23000km. It may be best to consider other options.
