2012 Ford F-350 problems
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.
Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.
The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

Common 2012 Ford F-350 problems
The 2012 Ford F-350 is a heavy-duty pickup truck that has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These problems include:
- Death Wobble: This is a problem that has affected many Ford F-350 owners from 2009 to 2021, with the 2017 and 2019 models being particularly affected. The death wobble is a violent shaking of the front end of the truck that can occur when driving over potholes or speed bumps. It is caused by a variety of factors, including loose steering components, worn out suspension parts, and unbalanced tires.
- Brake Shift Interlock Switch Recall: In December 2011, Ford issued a recall for certain model year 2011 F-150 and 2012 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 heavy-duty vehicles. The recall was due to a problem with the brake shift interlock switch, which could allow the driver to shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal. This could potentially lead to accidents and injuries.
- Engine and Engine Cooling Problems: There have been several complaints about engine and engine cooling problems in the 2012 Ford F-350. These problems include excessive vibration and noise from the diesel fuel conditioning module (DFCM) and pressure fuel lines, engine shudder or turbo flutter noise around 900-1400 RPM, and exhaust smoke, engine knocking, low power, long crank hard start, and rough or no crank start caused by contaminated fuel.
- Suspension and Axle Hub Problems: Some 2012 Ford F-350 owners have reported problems with the front suspension and axle hubs. These problems include 4x4 not engaging, not staying engaged, and/or unlocking in extreme cold temperatures below -18 degrees Celsius or 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Transmission Problems: Transmission problems are also common in the 2012 Ford F-350. These problems include transmission lurching issues, transmission calibration issues, and unintended rollaway issues. Some owners have reported that their trucks have slipped out of gear or rolled away unexpectedly, which can be dangerous.
- Loose Steering: Loose steering has been reported in several generations of the Ford F-350, including the 2012 model. This problem can be caused by a variety of factors, including a bad steering box, bad steering column, worn out tie rods, pitman arms, or ball joints.
- PTO Pressure Oil Leaks: The 6.8L gasoline engine in the 2012 Ford F-350 has been known to have oil leaks through the PTO pressure switch. These leaks can cause oil to get on the thermal blanket that covers the exhaust, which can potentially ignite a fire.
- Spark Plug Issues: Pre-2009 Ford F-350 models have been known to have issues with the spark plugs firing through the cylinder head due to the pressure from the combustion process. This problem can cause damage to the threads and may require the replacement of the cylinder head and gasket.
- Turbocharger Issues: The turbocharger in the 2012 Ford F-350 can develop cracks in the plastic housing between the turbo and the intake, which can cause a loud bang and the loss of all power. This problem, also known as turbocharger blow-off, can be resolved by replacing the plastic housing.
- Engine Block Heater Issues: The engine block heater in the 2012 Ford F-350 has been known to have problems that led to two recalls. These problems can cause the engine to fail to start in cold weather.
In conclusion, the 2012 Ford F-350 has several common problems that owners have reported. These problems include death wobble, brake shift interlock switch recall, engine and engine cooling problems, suspension and axle hub problems, transmission problems, loose steering, PTO pressure oil leaks, spark plug issues, turbocharger issues, and engine block heater issues. It is important for owners of this vehicle to be aware of these problems and to have their trucks inspected and repaired as necessary to ensure their safety and reliability.

- Manufacturer: PJ's Truck Bodies & Equipment Co.
- Components: EQUIPMENT
- Summary: PJ's Truck Bodies & Equipment Co., (PJ's) is recalling certain 2009-2013 Ford F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty chassis modified by PJ's and equipped with certain Muncie Power Products PTO Assemblies. In the affected vehicles, oil may leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust.
- Consequence: The leaking oil may soak into the thermal blanket covering the exhaust, which when combined with heat from exhaust, may result in an increased risk of fire.
- Remedy: PJ's has notified owners and dealers will install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system, free of charge. The recall began on August 28, 2014. Owners may contact PJ's customer service at 1-866-475-8782.

Due to an exhaust sensor problem, the vehicles may experience loss of power followed by an engine stall.
- Consequence: An unexpected engine stall increases the risk of a crash. Additionally, if this were to occur when the ambulance is transporting a patient, there is an increased risk of injury to the patient.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the exhaust gas temperature sensor, free of charge. The recall began on November 25, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall campaign number is 13S10.
