The Ford E-Series (also known as the Ford Econoline, Ford Econovan or Ford Club Wagon) is a range of full-size vans manufactured and marketed by the Ford Motor Company. Introduced for 1961 as the replacement of the Ford F-Series panel van, four generations of the model line have been produced. Marketed for both cargo and passenger transport configurations, the E-Series has been designed with multiple design variations for both retail and commercial sale, including vans, and commercial-grade cutaway van chassis and stripped chassis (a chassis without bodywork).

With over 8.2 million units sold since 1961, the Ford E-Series is the third-best selling van line in history (outranked only by the Ford Transit and Volkswagen Transporter). Ford retired the E-Series passenger and cargo vans after 2014, replacing them with the Ford Transit. As of current production, the E-Series remains offered exclusively in cutaway and stripped-chassis configurations. In 2021, the model line entered its 60th year of production (becoming the second current Ford line to do so).

The E-Series (cutaway/stripped chassis) is assembled by Ford at its Ohio Assembly facility (Avon Lake, Ohio), which has produced the model line since 1975. Prior to its closure, Lorain Assembly (Lorain, Ohio) assembled the model line from 1961 to 2005.

Why is my 2006 Ford e250 shutting off while driving?

Summary: When I go to the lake boating, I always remove my battery from the engine compartment and take it with me as a backup in case my boat battery should fail. on September 26, 2022, when leaving the lake, I reinstalled the battery bas I always do and closed the hood. It appeared closed when the hood surface aligned with the side panel. After leaving the boat ramp I turned onto FM 2272 and was accelerating to the posted speed limit of 55. At 40 mph, all of a sudden, the hood flew up into the windshield shattering it from one side of the vehicle to the other. My view of the road was completely obstructed as I was covered in pieces of broken glass. Fortunately, I was able to see the white lane marker through the bottom of the windshield as there was about a 3-inch gap between the bottom of the hood and the bottom of the windshield so I could safely pull my vehicle off the roadway. I know I closed the hood before leaving the boat ramp and even if I hadn't fully closed the hood the secondary hood latch should have prevented the accident from occurring. The secondary. latch is not dependent on the release mechanism and is 100% a mechanical device requiring a person to physically push on the release lever under the hood in order to open it. Had the hood opened while I was on an interstate highway or at night the accident could have been fatal.

Summary: WE PURCHASED A VEHICLE FROM GASCAR AUTO IN MIAMI, FLORIDA ON DECEMBER 31ST, 2019. WE DROVE IT BACK TO MINNESOTA. IT TOOK US 4 MONTHS AND OVER 30 PHONE CALLS TO GET THEM TO SEND US THE TITLE-WHICH THEY WROTE DATE OF SALE AS 4/19/2020. WE JUST RAN THE VEHICLES VIN, (THE DEALERSHIP HAD ALSO RAN A CARFAX, BUT NOT DISCLOSED TO US AN ACCIDENT OR THE DISCREPANCY IN MILEAGE) AND DISCOVERED THE ODOMETER HAD BEEN ROLLED BACK TO READ 100,000 LESS MILES THAN WE WERE TOLD WE WERE PURCHASING IT WITH. WE WERE UNDER THE IMPRESSION WE WERE BUYING WHAT WE WERE TOLD WE WERE BUYING ON THE ODOMETER DISCLOSURE FORM, NOT A VEHICLE WITH 100K MORE MILES. HAD WE KNOWN THAT, AND HAD WE KNOWN THE COMPANY WOULD FALSIFY THE DATES ON THE TITLE AND REFUSE TO GIVE IT TO US, WE NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THEY LIED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ABOUT SENDING THE TITLE, AND IT TOOK A NOTIFICATION OUR ATTORNEY WAS INVOLVED TO GET THEM TO MAIL IT AFTER 4 MONTHS. IN CONTACTING THE DEALER TODAY, HE TOLD US IT ISNT HIS PROBLEM BECAUSE HE HAD "EXEMPT" WRITTEN ON THE FRONT OF THE TITLE. HOWEVER, HE DID FILL OUT THE ODOMETER DISCLOSURE, HE DID FALSIFY THE DATE OF SALE, AND HE DID SELL US A TITLE THAT HAD APPARENTLY ORIGINALLY BEEN PURCHASED BY HIS DEALERSHIP MORE THAN 1 YEAR PRIOR, THOUGH HE NEVER TRANSFERRED THE TITLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I AM INCLUDING DOCUMENTATION OF ALL OF THIS.

YET THESE TIRES ARE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER WITH MICHELIN, AND NOONE AROUND HERE (SANTA ROSA, CA) HAS ANY, NOR DO THEY HAVE ANY OF THE OTHER TWO SERIES THAT MICHELIN OFFERS AS A SUITABLE REPLACEMENT (LTXA/T2 OR XPS RIB). AND THERE ARE VERY FEW ALTERNATES THAT ANYONE CAN OFFER ME. AS I SEE IT, I AM DRIVING ON TIRES THAT MICHELIN SAYS ARE UNSAFE, YET THEY HAVE NO SIMPLE SOLUTION TO REPLACE THEM WITH ANOTHER ONE OF THEIR TIRES THAT DOESN'T INVOLVE ME SPENDING A LOT MORE TIME THAN I ALREADY HAVE TO BASICALLY DO THEIR JOB. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,500.

Summary: THRU TESTING BY A INDUSTRIAL HYGENTIST WE HAVE PROOF THAT OUR HANDICAPPED VAN CUSTOMED IN MISS IN 2005 AND SOLD AS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE IN 2006 WAS IN FACT DEFECTIVE AND CONTAINS MORE FORMALDEHYDE ABOVE HUMAN CONSUMPTION. THIS VEHICLE WAS RETURNED THE DEALERSHIP IN PLANT CITY, FL BY FLATBED SO THAT NO ONE WOULD EVER ENTER IT AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT IT FOR A COUPLE OF HRS AND FLAT BEDDED IT BACK TO MY PROPERTY BECAUSE IT IS HIGHLY COMBUSTIBLE AND THEY DID NOT WANT THEIR DEALERSHIP TO EXPLODE BUT IT IS OK THAT MY HOUSE AND NEIGHBORHOOD HAS THE EXPLOSION INSTEAD. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND REFUSING TO SETTLE THRU THE LEMON LAW THEREFORE WE ARE GOING TO COURT. THIS VEHICLE AND ALL OTHER VEHICLES SHOULD BE RESEARCHED AND FIND THEM ALL AND DESTROYED. WHY IS THE NTSHA AND OSHA ALLOWING THIS PRODUCT TO BE USED IN HANDICAPPED OR ANY VEHICLE. THE FORMALDEHYDE AT HIGH TEMP IS A CARRIER OF CANCER. MY FAMILY HAS SEVERE REACTIONS TO THIS VEHICLE. I CAN NOT EVEN GO OUT OF MY HOUSE WITHOUT A REACTION TO THE AIR IN THE FRONT YARD. THE TEMP IS THE VEHICLE IS OVER 125 AT TIMES. THIS DEPT SHOULD HAVE ON THE FIRST COMPLAINT COME OUT AND CHECKED THIS VEHICLE OUT AND IT SHOULD NOT BE IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA BUT IN FACT IN THE LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP IN A CORNER WHERE IF IT DID EXPLODE THERE WOULD NOT BE A LARGE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO HAD TWO EMPLOYEES THAT WERE EXTREMELY EXPOSED LIKE WE WERE AND STILL IGNORE THE SITUATION. MY NEXT STEP IS THE NEW MEDIA AND TV STATIONS TO BRING THIS OUT IN THE OPEN. I FILE A REPORT AND BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE HAS FILED THIS COMPLAINT AND MAYBE NOT AWARE OF IT YET YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING TO HELP. IF YOU CHECK CARFAX IT IS AWFULLY STRANGE WHY E250 FORDS ARE BEING SOLD WITH LESS THAN 20,000 ON THEM AND ARE 2006 BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE GETTING SICK FROM THEM AND DO NOT KNOW WHY. Components: EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY
Summary: New England Wheels (New England) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-250, E-350, and 2015 Ford Transit vans equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts by Ricon. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack. Additionally, the lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.
Consequence: If the platform side plates crack or the platform mounting fails from out-of-position bearings, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the vehicle's doors are opened, the platform may fall onto the lift operator, increasing their risk of injury.
Remedy: New England will notify owners, and Ricon dealers will inspect the link arms for damage or for displaced bearings. The platform will be inspected for cracks. Any damaged parts will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on June 29, 2016. Owners may contact New England customer service at 1-800-886-9247. New England's number for this recall is 16E-020.

Summary: New England Wheels is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-250, and E-350 cargo vans modified to be equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts built by the Ricon Corporation. The affected lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.
Consequence: If the bearings move out of position, the stowed platform may have excessive movement resulting in failure of the platform mounting. This failure could cause the wheel chair lift platform to fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury for the lift operator.
Remedy: New England Wheels will notify owners, and Ricon dealers will inspect the link arms for damage or for displaced bearings. The platform will be inspected for cracks. Any damaged parts will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on January 5, 2016. Summary: Mobility Specialists, Inc. (Mobility Specialists) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-250, and E-350 vehicles modified to be equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon Corporation. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack. Additionally, the affected lifts are equipped with folding link arms that may have pivot holes that are too big, allowing the bearings to move out of position.

Summary: Cummings Mobility Conversion & Supply (Cummings) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-150, E-250, E-350, Chevrolet Express, 2006-2008 Dodge Sprinter, and 2009-2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and 2013 Ford Transit Connect vehicles manufactured January 1, 2006, to October 8, 2014, equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon Corporation after January 1, 2006. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack.
Consequence: If the platform side plates crack, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the doors are opened, the platform may fall out, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator.
Remedy: Cummings will notify owners to take buses to a Ricon dealer or service center who will install supplemental platform support bumpers. Any platform that has already started cracking will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began January 13, 2015. Summary: Mobility Works is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 Ford E-150, E-250 and E-350 vehicles manufactured August 2006 through August 2012. The vehicles are equipped with certain Ricon S series and K Series wheelchair lifts with an optional armored pendant cable. The armored cable may be positioned such that it does not clear the wheelchair lift.
Consequence: If the cable does not clear the wheel chair lift it may contact the power lug and, if it does not have a nonconductive cover, or it has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.
Remedy: Mobility Works will notify owners and Ricon will provide a supplemental cover kit and instructions, free of charge. This recall campaign is expected to begin July 15, 2013. Owners may contact Mobility Works at 1-877-275-4912 and Ricon at 1-818-267-3000.
