1991 Dodge Ram 1500 problems
The Ram pickup (marketed as the Dodge Ram until 2010) is a full-size pickup truck manufactured by Stellantis North America (formerly Chrysler Group LLC and FCA US LLC) and marketed from 2010 onwards under the Ram Trucks brand. The current fifth-generation Ram debuted at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, in January of that year.
Previously, Ram was part of the Dodge line of light trucks. The name Ram was first used in 1981 model year Dodge Trucks in October 1980, following the retiring and rebadging of the Dodge D series pickup trucks as well as B-series vans, though the company had used a ram's-head hood ornament on some trucks as early as 1933.
Ram trucks have been named Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year eight times; the second-generation Ram won the award in 1994, the third-generation Ram heavy-duty won the award in 2003, the fourth-generation Ram Heavy Duty won in 2010 and the fourth-generation Ram 1500 won in 2013 and 2014, and the current fifth-generation Ram pickup became the first truck in history to win the award three times, winning in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Common 1991 Dodge Ram 1500 problems
The 1991 Dodge Ram 1500, also known as the Dodge D150, has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues primarily relate to electrical problems, starting difficulties, and engine performance.
- Starting Difficulties: Several owners have reported difficulties starting their 1991 Dodge Ram 1500. In some cases, the engine cranks but won't start, even after replacing ignition coils, pick-up coils, and coil wires. This issue may be related to the crank position sensor or a ground wire that connects the battery to the radiator support.
- Stalling at Low RPM: Some owners have reported that their 1991 Dodge Ram 1500 stalls at low RPM and won't start again for some time. This issue may be related to fuel or ignition problems, such as a faulty fuel pump, ASD relay, or crankshaft position sensor.
- Engine Performance Issues: The 1991 Dodge Ram 1500 has been reported to have engine performance issues, such as high oil pressure upon startup, which can lead to distortion of the oil filter casing. This issue is specific to the 3.9-, 5.2-, and 5.9-liter engines.
- Steering Problems: Some examples of the 1991 Dodge Ram 1500 suffer from a problem that allows too much play around the straight-ahead position of the steering. This can cause the vehicle to wander slightly from left to right or require too much steering input to maintain a straight and true course along the highway.
- Tailgate Problems: The Dodge Ram is known to have tailgate issues that cause it to rattle, which can lead to wear and damage. The problem is due to a loose-fitting pivot on the right-hand side or a broken right-hand bushing. Replacing the faulty components can resolve this issue.
These common problems with the 1991 Dodge Ram 1500 can significantly impact the vehicle's performance and reliability. It is essential for owners to address these issues promptly to ensure the safe and efficient operation of their vehicles.

- Summary: NHTSA RECALL 93E-034 AND CHRYSLER RECALL #605. I CONTACTED A DODGE DEALER IN CORDELE, GA AND HE SAID HE WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE PART TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS RECALL ON MY TRUCK. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL THAT DOES NOT EXPIRE. I NEED TO GET THIS RESOLVED. THE PART NUMBER I FOUND WAS C3906051. THIS WAS FROM THE OLD CHRYSLER RECALL NOTICE 605. I ALSO SEARCHED MOPAR PARTS AND COULD NOT FIND IT. SURELY THE PART IS AVAILABLE SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL. I CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER BY EMAIL AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS:>>WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING RECALLS OF THIS AGE COMPLETED IT DOES DEPEND ON IF THE PART IS STILL AVAILABLE, TO ATTEMPT TO LOCATE THE PART YOU WILL NEED TO WORK WITH A LOCAL FCA DEALERSHIP, AS THEY ARE IN THE BEST POSITION TO ASSIST. ALSO, IF YOU ARE AT ALL CONCERNED THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH YOUR TRUCK I DO SUGGEST BRINGING IT INTO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS, AS THEY ARE FACTORY TRAINED TO WORK ON OUR VEHICLES.<<<< THIS IS A POOR RESPONSE. THE PART IS NO LONGER MADE NEW SINCE IT WAS LAST USED IN 1993. HOWEVER THERE ARE PLENTY USED REBUILT ONES AVAILABLE. I TALKED TO TWO DEALERS AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART AND ARE NOT HAVING ANY LUCK FINDING. I AM STILL IN TOUCH WITH THE ONE IN CORDELE AND HE IS LOOKING FOR THE PART. FIAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE NOT MY LOCAL DEALER FRO RESOLVING THIS. MY DODGE CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER REFERENCE NUMBER IS: 33027978 EMAIL CASE NUMBER: 3572678 SO FAR THE TRUCK IS FINE BUT IF OR WHEN THE THROTTLE BREAKS, THE TRUCK WILL RUN WIDE OPEN AND EVEN POSSIBLY NOT SHUTDOWN. I NEED THE TRUCK FIXED ASAP AS I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP IT OFF THE ROAD. A NEW RE-MANUFACTURED PUMP IS AROUND $1500 PLUS LABOR SO I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX IT MYSELF AND IT IS NOT MY PLACE TO SINCE IT IS A RECALL. THANKS
