We bought our Audi SQ5 to replace my Jaguar XF. Although I enjoyed the Jaguar's 340hp supercharged engine, it lacked utility in terms of cargo and towing. The SQ5, on the other hand, has added utility and better performance figures. For a direct comparison, we also own a 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. The SQ5 is quicker and sportier, but the Nautilus is competitive with its upgraded 2.7L engine. (Audi 349hp, 369 torque; Lincoln 335hp, 380 torque) The SQ5 has better outward visibility and feels like a lighter vehicle, but the Nautilus has a nicer interior with more storage. Both were similarly priced, with us exhausting the Nautilus option list but having to limit the SQ5 add-ons. We expect to take the SQ5 on shorter trips, for which it is capable of hauling our boat or bikes, and take the Nautilus on longer trips with its added storage and more accommodating 23-way adjustable seats. We also looked at the M-B GLC and the BMW X3; they are all great choices. The difference mainly lies in the buyers' priorities. UPDATE: Our SQ5 was purchased to replace MY Jaguar, but my wife has taken over the Audi. She loves its quickness; with two turbos, there is no turbo lag. It's like a sports car for shopping. But that is no problem for me; we also have an Alfa Romeo, which is also very fun to drive. UPDATE: 5/22 My wife is still in love with (my) Audi SQ5, but I do not mind, we have two other nice cars. I did get to drive the Audi yesterday and noticed that we are getting 23.2 mpg on what is mainly city/suburban driving. The Audi A/C stopped working at one point but was repaired under warranty for no cost. 12/22 update: I officially switched cars with my wife. The Audi SQ5 is 'her car' and the Alfa Romeo Giulia is now mine. The Audi is a great vehicle; she loves the SUV feel of sitting up high with great outward visibility plus the modest size and quick performance. I like the smaller size and sports car feel of the Alfa. There are few 'bad' cars out there.It's not just about finding any car, it's about finding the one that fits your priorities. Our Nautilus has been our family workhorse and yesterday, I used it to move furniture that wouldn't have fit in either of our other two vehicles. As of 6/23, the SQ5 has 17K miles on it (we have three vehicles for the two of us and are gone for 10+ weeks per year) and my wife is still in love with it. She has no complaints whatsoever and it has been flawless. I occasionally drive it, but otherwise, I split my time between the Nautilus and Alfa Romeo with no regrets. The Alfa is now six years old with 31K miles and has had no issues. The Nautilus has 37K miles and is also flawless.

This is the best vehicle I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning in my 60 years of driving. Previous car was an 2014 Audi Q5. Aside from a suspension issue, which was promptly repaired, this 2020 SUV has performed flawlessly. It is very comfortable on long trips and gets a solid 26 mpg in steady highway driving (as calculated by hand and also by the onboard computer, which is amazingly accurate). Would buy Audi again, without hesitation.

I've owned a lot of cars since the late 70s, mostly BMW and Porsche. I've had the pleasure of owning 5 M3s, 2 M5s, 4 911s, and more recently X5s, a Cayenne, and even an X3M. Then I bought a 2012 Audi A8L and fell in love with the brand. I bought my wife an Audi allroad and wanted something a little sportier. I went to the dealer intending to look at the S4/S6/7 line and was considering the S5 Sportback. All of the aforementioned is only for context. I'm an older guy who appreciates performance, and yet I have a perspective of how much performance a person can actually use on the street. I also enjoy a modicum of practicality, and so many new cars today offer both that could only be dreamed of 10 or 15 years ago. The SQ5 is without a doubt the best balance of both comfort and performance I have encountered to date in an easy-to-live-with package. It's simply amazing the choices we consumers enjoy today. I considered a Macan, but the usual Porsche buying experience is a turnoff. Additionally, my local Audi dealer was terrific to deal with, and frankly, the SQ5 technology embarrasses the Macan. The driving dynamics of the 2018 SQ5 feel far superior to the older platform that underpins the Macan. You can't go wrong with the SQ5, and be sure to get the virtual cockpit option.

Initially, I was planning on purchasing the BMW X3 M40i, but a friend suggested that I try the SQ5. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and quiet it was, while still maintaining good dynamics and handling. I also tested the GLC43, but the SQ5 was the clear winner for me. Additionally, it was more affordable than the other options.

I wanted to share an update on our experience with the purchase of a brand new 2018 SQ5. Unfortunately, we experienced total electronic system failures three times in a span of three drives, which was both unsafe and disappointing. Initially, the response from the service manager was lackluster, but I presented the dealership with a detailed and respectful written response. After a few days, Audi corporate contacted the dealer and decided to take the car back and replace it with a new SQ5. I was pleasantly surprised by Audi's willingness to take responsibility and avoid an ongoing cycle of repairs or lemon law action. As a first-time Audi owner/BMW convert, this experience reset my expectations. I have had little time to enjoy the car due to this event, but I will update my review of the new car once it has been driven sufficiently. I must say that we were treated very well at the dealer once this issue was addressed. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Although my 2018 SQ5 experienced a thermostat failure, it was promptly addressed by the dealer. While this issue has been reported by other owners on audiworld.com, it is important to note that it was resolved within a week and did not cause any further damage. Overall, I am satisfied with the car's performance and features. However, I do hope that Audi will continue to improve their reliability in the future.

When I first got my vehicle, I experienced some issues with the navigation system turning off while I was driving. It was a bit frustrating as I had to stop the vehicle and restart it to get it to turn back on. However, after a few automatic software updates, the issue went away. In May 2019, the thermostat failed without any check engine light and the vehicle fan ran high non-stop. It took a few days to repair the work and the dealership initially tried to charge me for the removal of the bumper to gain access to the thermostat. I expressed my concerns and they were kind enough to waive the charges. In July 2019, the A/C stopped pushing cool air and the dealership found that the a/c liquid levels were not where they should have been. They filled it up and I have not had any problems since.
