  • Summary: The check engine light illuminated on several occasions indicating the catalyst efficiency is below the threshold. The vehicle has not been repaired and is available for inspection. Audi dealership has inspected the car and said that the catalytic converters are bad and need to be replaced. The car only has 60,000 miles on it and has no other problems with the engine. The dealership says that there is no reason why the converters should be bad based on the vehicle history. the repair is cost prohibitive due to an estimate of $13,500 to replace the catalytic converters. The catalytic converters being bad is increasing the harmful pollutants causing unnecessary excessive tail pipe emissions.

  • Summary: My 2013 Audi rs5 has a well known transmission issue. There was a class action lawsuit that justs settled for earlier years of the S4 & S5 models. My tranmission error has occurred several times when reversing, especially reversing up an incline or stop start reverses. The gear changes have become very jerky, both upshifts and downshifts, especially noticable at low speeds. The mechatronic unit on this audi model is a known issue and the audi forums are littered with examples of these mech units going bad. A replacement mech unit is costing me $4500 total and I have seen similar costs to others in the audi online forums like audizine

  • Date Complaint: 2021-12-05
  • VIN: WUAPWAF57JA
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: Autonomous Emergency Services Notification Feature: Audi has informed its owners of vehicles made from 2018 and earlier that a safety feature provided as standard equipment in the vehicle will no longer be available because of the inevitable shut down of 3G wireless systems across North America. However, features that are not free (which require a subscription) are supported by a 4G radio in the car and will not be impacted. Owners were NEVER notified that two different wireless systems were used in the car, a 20 year old technology for safety related features, and a 4GLTE module for expensive, subscription based telematics which have nothing to do with safety. I purchased and selected my vehicle based on these exact safety systems, especially as I'm a disabled driver. I'm not even out of warranty yet and TWO features have now been or will about to be sunset, without a fix. I was also never notified that this was going to occur, I found out by accident and most dealers aren't even yet aware. Audi has stated they are working with an outside company to bandaid the issue, however, this bandaid was not integrated with the car and basically won't solve the problem that it isn't the car I purchased. In the posted letters other owners received, there is ZERO indication of when this might be available, no evidence or indication it will be approved by the DOT or NHTSA because it's a bandaid. I have already contacted Audi for resolution, without result. I have requested updates, without result. The process is supposed to take 20 business days. It has now been over 40 business days. Regardless of the price of the vehicle, there was NEVER any indication by the dealer or in the manual that would lead customers to believe two different technologies were in use in the car.... 4G is plastered everywhere, however, 3G is stated nowhere. In hindsight, this is not only a dangerous situation for many drivers, but also a fraudulent one. Need help.

THERE HAS BEEN SOME SHUDDERING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT NOW WITH ONLY 20K MILES IT IS GETTING WORSE. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IT OUT, BUT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THE SHUDDERING EXPERIENCE IS NOT UNCOMMON IN THE RS5. APART FROM THE DISCOMFORT I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE.

  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: THERE IS A WIDELY-KNOWN ISSUE IN 2013+ AUDI ELECTROMECHANICAL POWER STEERING THAT CREATES A SENSATION OF A "NOTCH" AT 12:00 ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS NOTCH FORCES YOU TO MANUALLY KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE BY STEERING "BACK AND FORTH IN THE NOTCH". WHEN YOU TURN "BEYOND THE NOTCH" THERE IS A STICKING POINT. THE FASTER THE CAR IS MOVING, THE MORE PRONOUNCED THESE FEELINGS BECOME. I HAD HOPED THAT MY ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE TIRES. UNFORTUNATELY, WAITING TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES HAS TAKEN ME OUT OF WARRANTY. AFTER JUST INSTALLING NEW CONTINENTAL DWS 06, THE PROBLEM IS AS BAD, OR WORSE, THAN IT HAS EVER BEEN. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS! RESEARCHING ONLINE, MANY, MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. HERE IS A LINK TO AN INTERNET FORUM WHERE SOME INFORMATION HAS BEEN CONSOLIDATED: HTTPS://WWW.AUDIWORLD.COM/FORUMS/A6-C7-PLATFORM-DISCUSSION-194/AUDI-ELECTRIC-STEERING-ISSUE-REPORTS-CONSOLIDATED-2844976

  • Date Of Incident: 2015-10-09
  • Date Complaint: 2015-10-13
  • VIN: WUAC6AFR0EA
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: 2014 AUDI RS5 WITH 20,000 MILES W. SHUDDERING OF BRAKES. ON OCT 3. 2015 MY LOCAL MECHANIC TOOK ALL WHEELS OFF AND WE INSPECTED THE BRAKES. VISUALLY WE SAW NO PROBLEMS, NO SIGNS OF OVERHEATING, OR CONCERNS. HE SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. ON OCTOBER 9, 2015 I TOOK MY CAR TO AUDI OF ORLAND PARK AND AFTER AN INSPECTION, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THE ROTORS HAVE HIGH AND LOW SPOTS, THAT I NEED NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS, THAT AUDI ROTORS MUST BE REPLACED AT 20,000 MILES -HE HAS REPLACED ROTORS EVERY 13,000 MILES ON SOME CUSTOMERS CARS, THAT AUDI BRAKE ROTORS ARE THINNER THAN OTHER BRANDS AND THAT THERE WAS HEAT DAMAGE TO THE ROTORS. REMEMBER THAT JUST 1 WEEK EARLIER, MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND I VISUALLY INSPECTED THE BRAKE ROTORS AND THERE WAS NO BLUING. THE ONLY THING THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS ABLE TO SHOW ME WAS BRAKE PAD RESIDUE ON THE ROTORS, NOTHING ELSE. MY 2 MILE COMMUTE AT A MAXIMUM SPEED OF 30 MPH INVOLVES 2 STOPLIGHTS. THIS INVOLVES NO OVERHEATING BRAKES, NO HOT BRAKES IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I AM GENTLE ON THE BRAKES, I DON'T SLAM ON MY BRAKES, AND HAVE NEVER FELT THE ABS ACTIVATE. MY LOCAL MECHANIC DEEMED THAT IT IS HIGHLY ABNORMAL THAT A ROTOR NEEDS REPLACING ON SUCH A LOW-MILEAGE CAR DRIVEN AS I DO, AND THAT IT VERY WELL COULD BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. IF SO, IT SHOULD BE DONE UNDER WARRANTY. IF AUDI BRAKE ROTORS ARE THINNER, THUS WEAKER THAN OTHER BRANDS' BRAKE ROTORS, IT IS AN ENGINEERING MISTAKE ON A 4,000LB GT CAR DESIGNED WITH TORQUE VECTORING AND FOR USE ON EUROPEAN HIGHWAYS. IF AUDI BRAKE ROTORS ARE GETTING WARPED WITHOUT ABUSE IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

  • VIN: WUAC6AFH6DN

  • Summary: THE RS5 HAD A VERY BED PROBLEM WITH THE BREAKS. WHEN I WAS USING THE BREAKS THE CAR WAS SHACKING, ESPECIALLY WHEN I USED THE BREAK AT THE SPEED OF 75/80 MPH. THE CAR WAS UNSAFE AND TO STOP COMPLETELY THE CAR I HAD TO GO OUT OF THE STREET. ON NOVEMBER 2013 I LEFT THE RS A5 AT THE DEALER IN GREENSBORO. ON THE AFTERNOON I WAS CONTACTED BY AN ADVISOR OF THE AUDI SERVICE IN GREENSBORO. THIS ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT MY CAR NEEDED NEW PADS AND NEW ROTOR AND THAT THESE PARTS SUPPOSES TO COME FROM GERMANY AND THE WAIT TO HAVE THIS PARTS WAS 2 WEEKS. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT DURING THESE 2 WEEKS I COULD DRIVE MY CAR. WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE BREAKS WAS VERY BED ESPECIALLY AT 80 MPH HE ANSWERS ME BACK THAT THE SPEED LIMIT IS 65 MPH. WHEN I WENT TO PICK MY CAR UP FROM THE DEALER IN GREENSBORO AND WHEN I TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT DRIVING OVER THE SPEED LIMIT WAS MY PROBLEM AND THAT THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO HANDLED HIGHER SPEED THAN 80 MPH HE WAS VERY UNPOLITE AND HE TROUGH THE DOCUMENT OF MY CAR ON THE DESK. WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT HE HAD TO BE POLITE WITH CUSTOMERS HE TOLD ME '*** YOU'. MY REACTION WASN'T REALLY POLITE AND HE TOLD ME AGAIN '*** YOU' AND HE WAS INTIMIDATING ME. ONLY THE INTERVENTION OF THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE AT THE LOCATION STOPPED HIM. AFTER THIS ISSUE FLOW AUDI OF GREENSBORO (NC) CHANGED THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS, 2 WEEKS WAITING. IN FEBRUARY 2014, AFTER ONLY 2000 MILES, THE CAR HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THE SERVICE MANAGER AT AUDI TOLD ME THAT THE BACK ROTORS AND PADS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. AFTER THE SECOND REPLACEMENT, ON MARCH 2013, THE PROBLEM WASN'T SOLVED AND I WENT AGAIN TO THE AUDI DEALER SERVICE, I ALSO WROTE SEVERAL TIME TO THE AUDI CUSTOMER SERVICE. AT THE END OF MARCH THE MANAGER OF THE AUDI SERVICE IN GREENSBORO TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR WAS NORMAL. *TR

Latest negative Audi Rs5 car reviews

  1. Geo Pagac 2024-07-22

    Vehicle year: 2019

My 2018 RS5 has been in the shop frequently due to turbo waste gate issues. Despite Audi's claim that there is no fix yet, I am confident that the issue will be resolved soon. Currently, the car is in the shop for a temperature sensor replacement, which I trust will be completed promptly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Latest positive Audi Rs5 car reviews

  1. Morgan Daugherty 2024-10-27

    Vehicle year: 2021

I wrote this review because there aren't many real owner reviews of the RS5 on the internet. Every review I read is from a car journalist's perspective and is like a copy and paste from previous motoring journals. The reviews on here are the best ones because we own them and don't necessarily drive Porsches, Lambos, and Ferraris on the racetrack most days. Well, at least I don't. So here's my amateur opinion... I'm a 48-year-old bloke and have owned my 2017 RS5 for only a week, and I absolutely love it. I took delivery of my Nardo Grey RS5 coupe after almost buying the last generation M4 Competition. I feel like I've definitely made the right choice. Mine comes with £10k of options, including the sports exhaust, black pack, 20-inch alloys, and lots of other fancy tech things. This car looks stunning, and you don't see many on the road, which I like. Mine has only done 24k miles, and although it's a few years old, it's immaculate. I've always driven sporty cars, and I still have my V8 2008 M3 coupe, which I've owned for the last 10 years. The overall performance of the RS5 is explosive compared to the older M3. It makes the Beemer feel like a dinosaur. When I first jumped in the Audi, put it in dynamic mode, and planted the gas, I said out loud... Fkin hell! Everyone I've taken for a spin has a massive grin. This car is so fast. Forget silly reviews saying it's not as much fun or connected as the M4 blah blah. Do we ever drive these things in the real world on a racetrack? I live in a rural area, and on my back roads, I really don't need the back end sliding out when a tractor is coming the other way. In northern England, the roads are damp half the time, and a rear-wheel-drive M3/M4 or any fast rear-wheel-drive car cannot be pushed hard in the wet, but the RS5 can. The Audi is planted, point and go, and easy to drive fast in any road conditions. I love the sound of this Audi in dynamic mode and the burble it makes.Your M3 has a sports exhaust and the V8 does sound better, but the torque on the M3 is not great, it doesn't come alive unless you wind it up. The newer last gen M4 has similar power to the RS but a tail happy rear end and can be unsafe in the wet. The RS can handle fast speeds and any road condition with relative safety. The handling of the RS5 is superb, it can really fly around the twisty stuff. There is a split second delay when you hit the gas and then it takes off... And keeps going. Hit the brakes and it comes to a halt in no time. Journalists say it's a grand tourer, but I think it's a fantastic rocket. It feels light and nimble. The exterior of this RS5 is amazing and the interior and level of equipment is of high quality. Audi knows how to make a beautiful car.

I've been driving this car for over a year now and I absolutely love it! The ride is smooth, the performance is stellar, and the fit and finish are top-notch. Plus, it's a real head-turner! With its AWD, four doors, and hatchback, this car is the perfect daily driver for any car enthusiast. The only downside is that the gas tank could be a bit bigger, as I find myself stopping for gas more often than I'd like. On average, I get around 300 miles per tank. If you're used to driving coupes or sedans with a higher ride height, it might take some getting used to the lower ride height and feel of the RS5. But once you do, you'll find that it's a step above the traditional auto driving experience.

This car has exceeded all of my expectations in every way. I've owned it for three years now and I still get excited every time I start the engine and hear that powerful roar. It's actually my second Audi, the previous one being the S5. When I saw this car on the dealer floor, I knew I had to have it. It's fun, sporty, and never fails to impress. Just a friendly warning, it's only for serious adrenaline junkies!

I've driven quite a few cars in my time, including the Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari 488, Mercedes E63, Golf R, A45, Cadillac CTSV 750Bhp, and many more. However, the RS5 is truly something special. I had the pleasure of driving it yesterday and flooring it for the first time, and the adrenaline rush and immediate off-the-line response were unforgettable. In my opinion, this car is borderline supercar territory. It's surprisingly affordable and easy to get your hands on, making it the perfect daily driver for anyone looking for a supercar experience. The road grip, gear shifts, screaming engine, aggressive and wide front end, road comfort, light weight steering, sexy but simplistic solid interior, and 2 seats in the back make this car the perfect recipe for an exotic ride that's practical enough for everyday use.

Simply the best vehicle I have owned! It strikes the perfect balance between elegance and sport. The technology and engineering are quite amazing too.
