  • Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Honda CR-V, 2011-2015 CR-Z, 2010-2014 FCX, and Insight, 2009-2013 Fit, 2013-2014 Fit EV, 2007-2014 Ridgeline, 2013-2016 Acura ILX, 2013-2014 Acura ILX Hybrid, 2007-2016 RDX, 2005-2012 Acura RL, 2009-2014 Acura TL, and 2010-2013 Acura ZDX vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.
  • Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
  • Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are JY0, JY1, and JY2.

  • Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, PROLONGED HIGH UNDER-HOOD TEMPERATURES MAY CAUSE THE POWER STEERING HOSE TO DETERIORATE PREMATURELY CAUSING THE HOSE TO CRACK AND LEAK POWER STEERING FLUID.
  • Consequence: POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING ONTO A HOT CATALYTIC CONVERTER WILL GENERATE SMOKE AND POSSIBLY LEAD TO AN UNDER-HOOD FIRE.
  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW HEAT RESISTANT POWER STEERING HOSE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 12, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 800-382-2238.

    I purchased the RL Tech package and unfortunately experienced significant quality issues on the second day. There were rattling noises coming from various parts of the car and within 6 weeks of ownership, several parts had to be replaced due to major manufacturing defects. The windshield and headliners had to be taken apart as well. While I am disappointed with the experience, I am confident that Honda corporate will take the necessary steps to address these issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

    This is my 4th RL. While the exterior design is well executed, it could be more exciting. The car is solid, but not as reassuring to drive as previous models. However, it is surprisingly fast when passing. The fit and finish are as expected, and the metallic paint is beautiful. Although the voice activation system remains a mystery, the navigation system is easier to use than before, and there's no need to touch the screen. The front doors are larger than necessary, which can make them hard to close, and getting in and out of the car is not as easy as in previous models. The steering is lighter than expected, and road and wind noise can be intrusive, but the excellent sound system makes up for it. Unfortunately, the trunk floor is not flat.

With the increased output and wheels/tire package upgrade, I feel like I'm driving a top-of-the-line luxury car. In my opinion, buying a Mercedes E/S class or similar high-price brands is just for show. Acura is the real deal!

    I've had this car for a year and put 14,000 miles on it. The fuel economy is excellent, getting 27-30 mpg on all highways. I haven't had any mechanical problems so far. The only thing my wife would like is an adjustable passenger seat, as the seating position is too low for her. The fit and finish of the car is second to none. The RL has plenty of power, which I use often on steep hills. I personally like the styling of the car much more than the 09 model, as the grille has a richer and more elegant look. The handling is great in high-speed situations, far superior to the TL. Although the exterior design is quite understated, I do see the point of someone saying it looks too much like a Honda. However, I understand that the 2011 model will be a totally new car. Acura/Honda really does want to compete with the best from Lexus. After all is said and done, I would definitely buy it again.
