The Toyota Auris (Japanese: トヨタ・オーリス, Hepburn: Toyota Ōrisu) is a compact car derived from the Corolla, manufactured and sold by Toyota. Introduced in 2006, the first generation three/five-door hatchback shared the platform with the E150 series Corolla, while the second generation five-door hatchback and station wagon called "Touring Sports" uses the E180 platform. The "Auris" name is based on the Latin word for "gold", "aurum".

In Europe, Toyota positioned the Auris as the replacement for the Corolla hatchback, while the saloon version continued with the Corolla nameplate. Starting with the E210 model, the Auris nameplate was discontinued and used the Corolla nameplate instead, except for Taiwan, retained the Auris nameplate for the hatchback version until July 2020.

For the first generation only, the more luxurious Auris was named Toyota Blade (Japanese: トヨタ・ブレイド, Hepburn: Toyota Bureido) in Japan. The Auris succeeded the Allex in Japan and the Corolla RunX. Toyota Australia and Toyota New Zealand resisted suggestions from Toyota Japan to adopt the new European Auris name for the Corolla.

The Japanese model went on sale at Netz dealerships on 23 October 2006, while European models went on sale in early 2007. The second generation was later available at Toyopet Store dealerships from 18 April 2016.

The spare tire air pressure was not adjusted to the proper pressure as stated on the Tire Pressure Label.
  • Consequence: A spare tire that is not inflated to the proper value may not perform as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Gulf States will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the spare tires, adjusting their pressure as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 15, 2017. Owners may contact Gulf States customer service at 1-800-444-1074. Toyota's number for this recall is 17R2.

    I received my car after dark and was surprised to find that the headlights were not as good as my previous Corolla sedan. However, the car's performance, handling, comfort, and quietness are all excellent and surpass the sedan. Overall, I enjoy driving this car more than my previous Corollas. The only issue I have experienced is ongoing intermittent problems with the safety sense features. The master warning goes off every few days with no message, and the pre-collision warning sounds even when driving on a straight road with no traffic. These problems seem to be more prevalent in cold weather, but they still persist even on an 80-degree day. I understand that it may be difficult for the dealer to diagnose the problem when it is not present at the time of observation, but I am concerned that it may take a while for the service department to get up to speed on the software, firmware, and technical issues, as this is the first year for these features on the Corolla. Meanwhile, it is unnerving to be enjoying a drive only to be interrupted by flashing lights and warning buzzers. Adjusting the pre-collision sensitivity has no effect. Other glitches have included the back-up camera going blank while going backwards. On the plus side, the fuel economy is much better than expected, averaging close to 40 mpg overall. I just hope that this won't be a reliability headache.

    I purchased the Corolla iM for three main reasons: its gas mileage, Toyota's reliability, and the fact that it's a hatchback (also a second car for commuting). I won't go into too much detail since information is readily available online, including Consumer Reports if you have access to it. I've been driving the car for about three weeks now and overall, it's a decent car for commuting and running errands. As a 55-year-old who is picky and simple, all the fancy features the car has are irrelevant to me except for the backup camera. However, I am bothered by the Eco Mode flashing, as it can be too distracting and affect my attention to traffic, road conditions, or even interesting thoughts. This function is useless because my brain controls my foot, so I should know which mode I am driving in. I had been waiting for years to get a perfect Honda Fit, but I read about the not-so-user-friendly touch-screen of the Fit, which discouraged me from even giving the car a chance. There is no perfect hatchback out there for me, so I plan on keeping it as long as it goes. This morning, I thought of a solution: I will cover the Eco Mode with a piece of black electrical tape. Hopefully, this will help me enjoy my new car even more.

    The sticker says 28 city- 37 hwy- 31 combined, but I've found that the actual fuel efficiency is lower. I've been getting around 23.5 mpg, which is a bit disappointing. Additionally, I've noticed that the cabin can be quite noisy. It would have been nice if the factory had invested a bit more in sound deadening. As someone who has owned 4 Toyotas, I have to say that this one has been a bit of a letdown.

    I purchased this car in 2021 with 21000 miles on it. However, I have noticed that the clutch is quite high and numb, with a paper-thin bite point. Additionally, the throttle is laggy with rev hang, which can make starting off a bit tricky. Shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gears can be jerky, and it feels like I need to be back on the gas before releasing the clutch. When the car warms up, it idles at 500 RPM and shakes a bit, but a little gas solves the issue. Despite these quirks, the car gets great gas mileage and seems like it will last forever, which is a plus!

    On my first purchase of the car, I have been very satisfied with it. It is a very comfortable traveling car. I wish they could put these seats in the Prius and Rav 4. I tried the Prius again on a test drive, I could not handle the lack of lumbar support. I tried other Toyotas without power seats and the same problem surfaced. I spotted another Corolla IM on the lot, the only one left, and purchased it. Again great non power seats. The first one I paid 16,800., this one only 16,100. The only difference being all weather floor mats on the first purchase. I purchased all weather floor mats on the internet for this one., about $150. The resale value is great on these vehicles when you look it up. I have not had any issues with my first purchase, it has been trouble free. I have not experienced any issues with the Safety Sense System, and I have mine set on high sensitivity. We have all types of weather in Seattle and it does not seem to effect it. I did buy another manual transmission, so I cannot give an evaluation on the CVT automatic, I have never had a chance to drive one. I really enjoy the manual transmission. I find these vehicles very pleasant, especially out on the road, they are quiet and smooth. I thought I would miss a CD player or Satellite Radio, but that has not been the case, I just use Pandora or the HD radio. The Bluetooth and nice speakers do the job with my phone. The reliability and quality keep me coming back. I like the practicality of the hatchback. The 1.8 engine is perfect with the manual, I do not think I would want a larger engine. I had the larger engine in my TC and XB and the gas mileage suffered. If I was speed racer I would be looking elsewhere. I just want common sense transportation that is safe and reliable and practical and has a good resale value and good looking. This meets that criteria.

    The Corolla is a reliable car with great resale value, made in Japan which is definitely a plus. It has the practicality of a hatchback but the styling and handling of a sportier car. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it handles and the number of standard features it has, including a backup camera, lane change monitoring, forward collision monitoring, automatic headlights (with manual override), decent audio system, dual control heating/cooling system, bluetooth, USB port, height-adjustable driver's seat, sporty low profile tires with nice looking alloy wheels, and more. The analog speedometer and tachometer are also a nice touch. While it may not be the most powerful car, with the manual transmission, power is sufficient (and the manual is more fun to drive). Gas mileage is good, though not as good as some other small cars. The CVT gets considerably better gas mileage than the manual, mostly because the manual doesn't have a really tall 6th gear -- at 75 mph the manual (6th gear) is turning at 3000 rpm while the CVT is at 2000 (I drove a CVT as a rental car.) So, it's not a performance car, but it handles very well, and it lasts forever. The downsides are that getting in and out of the car is less comfortable than other cars I've owned due to the car's low profile, and the driver's seat lacks lumbar support (I use a small pillow to compensate). The lane change monitoring system uses a sensor housed in a small enclosure mounted behind the rear-view mirror -- this has a minor but negative effect on how much of a panorama you get out the windshield. The forward collision avoidance system works well, but lane change monitoring is overly sensitive, even though it can be adjusted. The automatic headlight option works ok, though it has trouble at night managing the brights.The coordination between the clutch and accelerator in the 6-speed manual transmission may require some practice to get used to. The accelerator is a bit over-sensitive, and the clutch's friction point is a bit narrow. However, this is not a deal-breaker, just something to be aware of. While the 6-speed manual transmission is not as slick shifting as some other models, such as the Mazda 3, it is still a good option for the price. The Corolla IM is an excellent choice if you are looking for mechanical reliability and resale value. At $17,300, it's a great car.

    I recently got a great discount at Toyota and decided to check out their cars along with other models like the Fit, Focus, and Cruze. I am extremely happy with my decision and absolutely love my new car! While it doesn't come with Sirius, I simply attached a kit and use the auxiliary port. It also doesn't have a CD player, but that's becoming more common in new cars as USB sticks are more convenient. There is an entertainment app installed, but I only use what I want and the sound quality is fantastic for this sporty and cute car. This is my first CVT and I was a bit wary due to some reviews on performance, but I can't relate to them at all - the acceleration is more than adequate for me on highways and surface streets, and the ride is incredibly smooth, especially considering the price of this car. I've already driven in snow, rain, and strong winds and it has handled the conditions very capably. As others have noted, you'll probably want to turn off the lane departure alert. The display is intuitive, although I do wish they had a digital speed/mph display setting in the center one. While it may not have the fuel economy of a Prius, it's still fairly good - I've gotten about 36 mpg. This is the first hatchback I've had in a long time and I absolutely love the convenience of being able to carry big stuff without needing a big car! I got the “pop” spring green color - more like yellow - and I hope I love that color for a long time because I'd really like this to be my dependable little ride for years to come. At the 10K mark, I still love this car. The only things that have bugged me are the glare on the media display in sunlight (can't read it) and the lack of mph reading in the media display by the steering wheel (my steering wheel placement blocks some of the speedometer). I wish it had remote start, but the dealership said the warranty would be voided by an aftermarket install. Overall, I love the size, comfort, mileage, and features of this car and feel that I made the right choice.

    Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with the Toyota model. Unlike some of the other Toyota models I've had in the past, this one has a different, fresher, and younger feel to it. It used to be a Scion model built on the TC platform, so the handling is great for its size. While it's not a race car, the 'sport mode' does give it a nice pull. The steering is responsive, although it can be a bit numb for my liking. The braking is fantastic, and the MPG has improved significantly since I first got it. I used to get around 23 MPG, but now I get around 30 MPG combined. On a recent trip with cruise control on, I even got up to 38 MPG! However, I must admit that the tech features on this car are not the best. They're more of a joke, really, unless you really need guidance, which can be spotty at times. Unlike other Toyota models, this one doesn't have radar to measure distance from an object, so it's pretty useless. The only good tech feature is the backup camera, and the headunit is okay, although it doesn't have CD/Nav/Sat. Nonetheless, it's stylish, comfy, roomy, and a great value for the price. In my opinion, it's the best bang for your buck in this segment. Enjoy!
