The xA received a minor facelift for the 2006 model year, before importation ended in December 2006. The xA's successor, the xD was delivered to US dealerships beginning in August 2007 as a 2008 model.

- Summary: Symptom: When brakes are applied, car will violently jerk to the left into the path of oncoming traffic. Countersteering to prevent collision results in left front tire skidding with poor braking. Cause: Initially, the suspected cause was a failed right front brake caliper. However, upon investigation, it was found that the ABS braking module was blocking all brake fluid from going to the right front caliper. Solution: ABS braking module must be replaced. Comment: It should be assumed that if one front wheel brake is disabled, then the other could also be disabled without warning resulting in no braking capability at all. On this vehicle, the rear brakes are also controlled by the ABS module.

AFTER INSPECTING THE CAR AT THE TOW LOT, MY SON AND I COULD SEE THAT THE FRAME WAS BENT SO I GAVE IT TO THE TOW LOT FOR THE COST OF TOW FEES. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT INJURED BEYOND ACHES AND PAINS. Peppy at the start but slow passing pickup on freeways. This neat little package is fun to drive, with a cool hi-tech interior. The car is a little on the light side, but great Toyota quality is carried over to the Scion badge. Good work!

I purchased the SCION XA brand new for my wife back in 2006. Despite being in four accidents and having over 60,000 miles on it, the car still looks and drives like it's brand new. The accidents included hitting an 8-point buck which caused damage to the front grill, hood, radiator, and fender. Additionally, a truck rolled into her causing damage to the rear hatch, and a lady rear-ended her while she was stopped, pushing her into another car. The car required a new rear hatch, bumper, front end, rear, and exhaust. Lastly, there was a hit and run that wiped out the passenger doors and rear quarter. Despite all of this, the car is still in great condition.

I got this car in 2010, just a few days after passing my driving exam. It was my first car on the highway and taught me everything I needed to know about safe driving. I bought it with 40,000 miles on the clock and now it has 90,000. This car has taken me on four 1300-mile trips from Upstate NY to Florida, a trip to Myrtle Beach, monthly trips to NYC, weekly trips to Niagara Falls, and much more. It has never let me down, and I only had a minor issue (costing around a hundred bucks in repairs) once. It's a fantastic car, and I plan on driving it until it can take no more, which I know won't happen for another few years.

This is a fantastic economy car! It has great mileage and handles really well. The acceleration is decent and the sound system is really cool. It's perfect for commuting, especially in California where gas prices are over $2 a gallon. It's also great for stop-and-go traffic. Where else can you find a car for only $13,000 that comes with ABS, AC, power windows, and doors? Plus, it has a Pioneer stereo system with 160w speakers and a reliable Toyota VVTI engine. The Scion Xa truly has it all!

I've owned dozens of vehicles, but this one is definitely my favorite. With 240k miles on it, it has required hardly any repairs (the clutch still works great, even). Whatever has had to be repaired was relatively cheap. I highly recommend buying one of these before they leave the roads for good! It's a shame they stopped making this vehicle. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

I purchased my Scion XA back in 2004 and fell in love with it. It has great gas mileage and is fun to drive. However, over the past 4+ years, I have been experiencing some noticeable issues. Despite taking it in for maintenance, my check engine light is always on. Additionally, my car shakes quite a bit when idling, which can be frustrating. I have taken it to several mechanics, but unfortunately, nobody has been able to fix the issues. Another problem I have encountered is that my driver's side window gets stuck, which is especially inconvenient during the winter months. Lastly, my brakes sometimes feel like they may give out when driving down a hill with snow. On a positive note, the car is very economical when it comes to gas. Overall, I have had some challenges with my Scion XA, but I still appreciate its positive qualities.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my Scion. I bought it brand new off the lot and it has been such a reliable car for me over the past 5 years. Even with over 103K miles on it, I've only had to do minor repairs. While the fuel economy hasn't been as great as I expected, I'm still happy with the bargain price of around $12,500 and all the features it comes with that most cars in that price range don't have. I have driven and owned several cars in my driving experience. In my opinion, this car has its pros and cons. On the positive side, it comes relatively loaded for the sticker price, has good mpg (32-ish), a good solid manual transmission, impressive reliability, and is surprisingly roomy. However, on the negative side, it has a sluggish response from a buzzy, noisy engine. To achieve passing speed, you have to be willing to rev it hard and downshift. The narrow wheel base and tall stance result in sloppy handling, and the light weight and engine position make it unstable in snowbelt conditions. Additionally, the soundproofing is minimal, and long highway rides can be noisy and tedious. For what it's worth, I bought it new and it lasted 4 years and 36k miles before I sold it.

171,000 miles. It's a shame that the front wheel bearings had to be replaced three times and the rear bearings once, but everything else on the car is still original. Out of the six cars I've owned, this is the first one that has had any wheel bearing issues. I'm currently in the market for a new small car, but I won't even consider the 2012 Toyota Yaris since I don't want to deal with any more wheel bearing problems.

Our experience with this vehicle has been disappointing. Despite the dealership's promise of 40mpg on the road, we are only getting around 25-28mpg. We purchased this car with the intention of saving fuel, but the sacrifice in comfort is not worth the poor performance. The dealership and Toyota have attributed this to a 'break in period', but we have never had a car that did not come close to the advertised mpg. We specifically bought the 5-speed version to tow behind an RV, and that is when we get our best mileage. Overall, we are not satisfied with this Scion and would not recommend it.
