Common 1995 Saturn Sl problems

Based on the information from the sources provided, here are the common problems reported by owners of the Saturn SL 1995:

  • Trailer Arm Rust and Breakage:
    • A common problem with the Saturn SL 1995 is the rusting and breakage of the trailer arm, which holds the rear wheel fixed horizontally but allows vertical movement. This issue can manifest as a metallic bump when the rear wheel shakes, especially on rough roads or during braking and acceleration. The trailer arm may need replacement or repair to ensure safe driving.
  • Engine Crank-No Start Issues:
    • Some owners have experienced starting problems, particularly when the engine is cold. This issue can result in difficulties starting the car, requiring multiple attempts and sometimes extended cranking times. The root cause of this problem may be related to fuel delivery or electrical switching issues, leading to intermittent starting problems.
  • Electrical and Starting Problems:
    • Saturn S-Series vehicles, including the SL 1995 model, have been known to face starting issues, especially in cold conditions. Owners have reported instances where the car takes 5-10 minutes to start, and once running, it struggles to stay running. Despite visits to repair shops, diagnosing and fixing these starting problems has proven challenging for some owners.

These common problems with the Saturn SL 1995 can impact the vehicle's performance, safety, and overall reliability. Addressing these issues promptly through proper maintenance and repairs is crucial to ensure the longevity and optimal functioning of the car.

ON SEPT 1 2011 WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 40 NEAR THE FORSYTH-DAVIE COUNTY LINE IN NORTH CAROLINA A PIECE OF THE TIRE'S TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE CORE OF THE TIRE SIMILAR TO THE WAY RECAPPED TIRES DO. THE SEPARATED PIECE IS STILL ATTACHED TO THE TIRE AT ONE POINT BUT THREW ENOUGH RUBBER OFF THAT IT ACTUALLY KNOCKED A HOLE IN THE SATURN'S LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL. A CRACK NEARLY 5 INCHES LONG. I BELIEVE THIS WAS SIMILAR ISSUE TO THE FIRESTONE TIRES SEPARATING AND BEING BLAMED FOR SUV ACCIDENTS 10 YEARS OR SO AGO. THE TIRE CAUSED NO PERSONAL INJURY BUT I DID LOSE CONTROL DUE TO THE POUNDING CAUSED BY THE LOOSE RUBBER. THE TIRE NEVER LOST AIR PRESSURE. *TR
