Common Porsche Panamera s e-hybrid problems
The Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid has been praised for its impressive fuel economy, smooth ride, and luxurious features. However, some owners have reported common problems with this vehicle, including issues with the high voltage battery and the car's overall cost-effectiveness.
The high cost of replacing the high voltage battery is not the only issue that affects the car's cost-effectiveness. Some owners have reported that the car's overall maintenance and repair costs are high, making it less affordable for the masses. One owner noted that most Porsches, except for the 911 and garage queens, become expensive to repair and maintain, leading to their early demise. The owner also pointed out that the poorly designed hybrid system in the early Panamera hybrids causes early high voltage battery failure, which Porsche charges five times the cost of other brands, indicating planned obsolescence.
Another issue that affects the car's cost-effectiveness is its environmental impact. While the Panamera S E-Hybrid is marketed as a green car, its environmental impact is significant due to the early disposal of otherwise perfectly good cars. One owner noted that the greenest car is the one that already exists, as opposed to manufacturing, mining, and shipping to create a new one.
In summary, while the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid is a luxurious and high-performance vehicle, it has some common problems that affect its cost-effectiveness and environmental impact. The high cost of replacing the high voltage battery and the overall high maintenance and repair costs make it less affordable for many people. Additionally, the early disposal of these cars due to battery failure and other issues contributes to their significant environmental impact.

Labor costs are estimated between $519 and $655 while parts are typically priced around $23,569.
How many miles does Panamera E-hybrid get?
With the combination of a V6 biturbo engine and a 100 kW electric motor, the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid achieves the following marks in driving range: 46 – 53 km (28.58 – 32.93 miles) of electric range combined. 49 – 54 km (30.44 – 33.55 miles) of electric range in town.

- Date Complaint: 2015-11-12
- Crash: 1
- VIN: WP0AD2A79EL
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: I WAS DRIVING UP MY DRIVEWAY SLOWLY (LESS THAN 5 MPH), PLANNING TO MAKE A 90-DEGREE LEFT TURN INTO MY GARAGE. AS I APPROACHED THE CORNER OF THE HOUSE BUT BEFORE I REACHED THE POINT WHERE I PLANNED TO TURN, THE CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD. I WAS NOT APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR. I HIT THE BRAKES AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I APPLIED THE BRAKES EVEN HARDER BUT THE CAR KEPT GOING, HIT MY GARBAGE CANS AND RAN OVER THEM, KNOCKED THE FENCE DOWN AND FINALLY STOPPED IN MY BACK YARD. I AM NOT SURE IF THE BRAKES FINALLY OVERRODE THE ACCELERATION OR IF DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR (DUE TO IT RUNNING OVER THE CONCRETE FENCE POST ANCHOR) CAUSED IT TO STOP. PHOTOS AND SECURITY VIDEO SHOW THE CAR LAID DOWN TIRE TRACK MARKS WHILE MOVING VERY SLOWLY. PORSCHE SAYS THERE IS "NO EVIDENCE" THAT THE CAR WAS NOT "OPERATING AS DESIGNED."
Porsche Panamera s e-hybrid 2012
- Date Of Incident: 2012-10-11
- Date Complaint: 2012-11-13
- Number Of Injuries: 1
- Crash: 1
- VIN: WP0AD2A71CL
- Components: STEERING,SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE
- Summary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
