2017 Mercedes-benz Gla250 problems
The Mercedes-Benz GLA is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Mercedes-Benz over two generations. It is essentially the SUV equivalent of the A-Class, and the smallest SUV marketed by the brand. The production version was revealed in August 2013 ahead of the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show in September 2013.
The GLA is powered by a range of petrol and diesel 4-cylinder engines, and comes in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the latter marketed by Mercedes as 4Matic.
The GLA nameplate aligns with Mercedes SUV nomenclature, where GL stands for Geländewagen (German for off-road vehicle) and the A designates its overall place in the Mercedes range, in this class, the smallest or A-Class.

- Body/Paint Problems: The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 has had one reported issue with body/paint problems. This issue is related to the paint quality and durability of the vehicle, with owners reporting paint chips and peeling paint. This can lead to an unsightly appearance and may require costly repairs to fix.
- Brakes Problems: The GLA250 has had one reported issue with brakes problems. The issue is related to the brake system, with owners reporting a problem with the brake caliper sticking, causing the vehicle to pull to one side when braking. This can be a serious safety issue and may require costly repairs to fix.
- Engine Problems: The GLA250 has had eight reported issues with engine problems. The most common engine problem is related to the timing chain tensioner, which can fail and cause engine damage. This issue affects vehicles built between 16 July 2015 and 11 September 2015. Any affected car will need a new camshaft fitted by a dealer to rectify this.
- Electrical Problems: The GLA250 has had eight reported issues with electrical problems. The most common electrical problem is related to the body control system, which may have a diagnosis and testing issue. This can cause various electrical issues in the vehicle, including problems with the windows, doors, and interior lighting.
- Miscellaneous Problems: The GLA250 has had four reported issues with miscellaneous problems. The most common miscellaneous problem is related to the emergency call system, which may transmit an incorrect location in an emergency. This issue affects vehicles made between 28 October 2015 and 19 November 2015. Any car affected by this recall will need to have new fuel lines fitted.
- Fuel System Problems: The GLA250 has had three reported issues with fuel system problems. The most common fuel system problem is related to the high-pressure fuel lines, which may crack over time and allow fuel to leak into the engine bay. In extreme circumstances, this could result in a fire. Any car affected by this recall will need to have new fuel lines fitted.
- Windows/Windshield Problems: The GLA250 has had three reported issues with windows/windshield problems. The most common windows/windshield problem is related to the window airbags, which may not deploy in a collision. This issue affects vehicles built between 1 August 2016 and 31 March 2017. A dealer will be able to let you know if your car is affected and replace these airbags.
- Seat Belts/Air Bags Problems: The GLA250 has had two reported issues with seat belts/air bags problems. This issue affects vehicles made between 8 September 2014 and 7 November 2014 and between 1 August 2016 and 31 March 2017. Speak with a dealer to find out if your car is affected, because it will either need to have the fuses for the system changed if it's the earlier recall or a whole new airbag unit if it's involved in the later one.
- Drivetrain Problems: The GLA250 has had two reported issues with drivetrain problems. The most common drivetrain problem is related to the steering knuckle, which may need to be replaced due to wear and tear. This issue affects vehicles built between 1 February 2014 and 28 February 2017. Speak with a dealer to find out if your vehicle is affected by this, because it will need an additional fuse added to prevent this from happening.
- Wheels/Hubs Problems: The GLA250 has had one reported issue with wheels/hubs problems. The most common wheels/hubs problem is related to the vacuum lines going to the brake booster, which have been found to break, resulting in a loss of boost pressure after a couple of brake applications. Cars affected by this will need to have a more durable line fitted to stop this from happening.
In conclusion, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 has several common problems related to body/paint, brakes, engine, electrical, miscellaneous, fuel system, windows/windshield, seat belts/air bags, drivetrain, and wheels/hubs. These issues can be costly to repair and may affect the safety and reliability of the vehicle.
