Common Mazda 929 problems
The Mazda 929, produced from 1973 to 1997, is known for its spacious interior and luxurious features. However, like any car, it has its share of common problems.
One of the most common issues with the Mazda 929 is transmission problems, particularly in the Mazda 929 Wagon produced from 1992 to 1995. Many owners have reported issues with the transmission, such as slipping or failing to shift properly. These problems can be caused by a range of factors, including worn-out transmission fluid, a damaged torque converter, or a faulty transmission control module. Regular maintenance and prompt repairs can help prevent transmission issues.
Another common problem with the Mazda 929 is electrical issues, which have been reported across all generations and models. These issues can include problems with the alternator or battery, as well as dashboard warning lights coming on unexpectedly. These issues can be caused by faulty wiring, a failing alternator, or a dead battery.
Suspension problems are also common in the Mazda 929, particularly in the Mazda 929 Wagon produced from 1992 to 1995. Many owners have reported issues with the front struts, which can cause a rough ride, uneven tire wear, and even steering issues. Suspension problems can be caused by worn-out shocks or struts, damaged bushings, or other wear and tear on the suspension components.
Engine problems are another common issue with the Mazda 929, particularly in the Mazda 929 Coupe produced from 1978 to 1981. These problems can include overheating, loss of power, and stalling. These issues can be caused by a range of factors, including a malfunctioning thermostat, a clogged air filter, or a faulty fuel pump.
Fuel system issues are also common in the Mazda 929, particularly in the Mazda 929 Wagon produced from 1992 to 1995. These problems can include difficulty starting the vehicle, poor fuel economy, and rough idling. These issues can be caused by a range of factors, including a clogged fuel filter, a faulty fuel injector, or a malfunctioning fuel pump.
In summary, while the Mazda 929 had its share of issues, many owners found it to be a reliable and practical vehicle. With proper maintenance and repairs, these issues can be addressed and the vehicle can continue to provide safe and reliable transportation for years to come.

The White Paint problem is the only downside of the vehicle.

Vehicle year: 1994
What a great car! The only downside is the limited interior space and the lack of a glove compartment, which has been mentioned before. I really wish they would make it again. I bought it used with only sixty thousand miles on it and the only issue I had was with the sunroof being a bit balky.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. I bought it back in 1997 with 70k on it, and it's been pretty much trouble-free since then, even with an additional 60k on it now. One thing I really appreciate is that the design still looks great even after 11 years! I usually get around 18-20mpg, mostly from in-city driving. As long as I give it a regular oil-change with 5w30 and pay attention to the automatic transmission fluid, I feel like it could easily last another 40k. Thanks for listening!

My 929 was amazing! It was a gift from my parents on my 17th birthday and I just passed it down to my sister when I went off to college. I like to describe my car as versatile and reliable. I've taken it off road, through water, and even on sidewalks! I would love to buy this car brand new if they still made it.

I love it! Your Mazda has so many features for a '92 model. It's amazing that you're the original owner and it still runs exceptionally well with 156k miles on it. It's great to hear that you haven't had any major repairs. I agree that it's one of the best-looking cars to come out of Japan. I definitely recommend it!

I can see that you've been on the hunt for a 929 for quite some time, and I'm glad to hear that you finally found one that you're happy with! From what you've described, it sounds like the car is incredibly comfortable and spacious, making it a great choice for long drives. It's worth noting that some parts have been replaced after 100kmi, but that's not uncommon for a car of this age. I understand that the accelerator can be a bit too sensitive, but I hope that doesn't detract too much from your overall enjoyment of the car. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me!

I purchased this car a year ago and have driven it for 10,000 miles. Although I have encountered several issues, I have taken decisive action to address them. The intake was loose, causing the car to stall, but I had it fixed at great expense. Despite this, the car still stalls occasionally. Additionally, the heat does not work and the check engine light comes on intermittently. I am confident that these issues can be resolved with further attention and maintenance. While the car's fuel economy is not ideal, I am optimistic that it can be improved with proper care. Overall, I believe that this car has potential and I am committed to ensuring its reliability.
