2018 Lincoln Navigator problems
The Lincoln Navigator is a full-size luxury SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln Motor Company brand of Ford Motor Company since the 1998 model year. Sold primarily in North America, the Navigator is the Lincoln counterpart of the Ford Expedition. It is the heaviest production Lincoln ever built, and is also the Lincoln with the greatest cargo capacity and the first non-limousine Lincoln to offer seating for more than six people.
Lincoln Navigator production was sourced from 1997 to 2009 at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan. Since 2009, production has also been sourced from the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.
Background
At the end of the 1980s, in the United States, sport-utility vehicles gradually began to transition from dedicated off-road vehicles towards dedicated family vehicles, similar to station wagons. In 1991, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (SJ) ended its almost unchanged 28-year production run. The vehicle had gained a famous reputation for its high content, featuring the same content as a luxury sedan. A smaller, unibody Grand Cherokee (ZJ) was induced during 1992 that offered new luxury equipment and class-exclusive features. General Motors introduced the Oldsmobile Bravada in 1990 and Ford later introduced the Mercury Mountaineer in 1996, convincing several other manufacturers to introduce mid-size luxury SUVs. As full-size SUVs such as the Chevrolet Suburban and Ford Expedition are highly profitable vehicles, the Lincoln Navigator was positioned by Ford as a full-sized, luxury SUV.

Common 2018 Lincoln Navigator problems
Common Problems with the Lincoln Navigator 2018:
- Quality of Dealers: Some owners of the Lincoln Navigator 2018 have reported issues with the quality of the dealers. They have described the dealers as being "3rd world" and have had problems with Lincoln service. One owner stated, "I have very few problems and love the drive and technology. I feel safe and like a king driving this vehicle. I don't think I'll ever grow into using all the features it provides. each day we learn of a new feature that makes driving both safer and more enjoyable. I have had nothing but problems since I got my navigator in sept 2018. First month it was in the shop for 13 out of 30 days. One electrical problem after another. I'm afraid this car is going to take over one day and kill me. So many glitches. Fantastic vehicle. Luxury ride, quiet and the most comfortable. Tech pkg is easily understandable and operates flawlessly. Great gas milage and tremendously powerful engine. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned by far. This is my second Lincoln Navigator I have owned. I purchased it brand new in June of 2018. In the first 18 months of ownership it spent 77 days in the shop. Mainly a variety of electrical issues that they couldn’t figure out how to repair. Seats that would move on their own, hatch that would open by itself, side mirrors that would get stuck and click, and a strange sound coming from the engine at start up. Trying to resolve this with BBB and Lincoln Customers service to no avail. For a $100k car, I would expect better customer service."
In summary, the Lincoln Navigator 2018 has been subject to several defects, including engine problems, electrical system issues, air suspension problems, and issues with the quality of dealers. If your Lincoln Navigator has been experiencing any of the issues discussed above or others specific to your SUV, it is recommended that you seek legal assistance from a qualified attorney.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-18
- VIN: 5LMJJ2JT0JE
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE
- Summary: The side mirrors, which are power adjusted, either will not properly adjust to the same setting when they first fold out when you start the car, or they will start moving when you start driving. This happens nearly every time the car is started. I have talked to fellow Ford F-150 owners who have the same problem. This causes a serious safety concern, especially when they start adjusting as you start driving because then you cannot safely see any obstacles beside the car and the warning light if someone is beside you does not work effectively. If I start my car and go to back out of a parking spot or driveway and the mirror start adjusting so suddenly I'm looking at the pavement instead of what is beside me, you can see why that would pose a safety concern to myself and anybody who may be passing by.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-08-22
- VIN: 5LMJJ2LT5JE
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: While driving at a speed of 55-60mph, I tried to pass slower vehicles on three different occasions during the same trip on a two lane road. I pushed the accelerator to the floor and pulled the car into the lane to my left. I felt and heard a very loud clunk, revving up of the engine, and total loss of power at the wheels. I quickly moved backinto my original lane and let up on the accelerator. After a 5-10 seconds, power returned to the wheels and I was able to reaccelerate. I was able to pass the aforementioned vehicles, albeit using a more gradual acceleration. I have previously had the vehicle inspected for two identical episodes at a Lincoln dealer. Unfortunately, they reported that the service techs were unable to duplicate the problem. If this were a standard transmission vehicle, I would say the clutch was slipping. In a vehicle with four wheel drive and automatic transmission, however, I am not well enough informed to make a diagnosis. There can be no doubt, however, that the action is potentially dangerous and could result in head on collision. I would also suspect that the engine transmission train is likely to have shortened lifespan if the problem continues. It is possible that there is already damage.
