Lincoln Nautilus problems
The Lincoln Nautilus is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company. The Nautilus was initially renamed from the MKX as part of a mid-cycle update in 2018 for the 2019 model year, as Lincoln phased out its use of "MK" model names. The name 'Nautilus' is derived from the ancient Greek word nautes, meaning "sailor," as in nautical or astronaut.
The first generation is based on the CD4 platform, and was manufactured at Oakville Assembly in Oakville, Ontario, Canada alongside the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT and manufactured in Hangzhou Assembly in Zhejiang, China by joint venture Changan Ford from 2021 to 2023. The second generation is solely produced by Changan Ford in China, as Ford is retooling the Oakville Assembly plant to produce electric vehicles.
First generation (U540; 2019)
The Lincoln Nautilus was released as the mid-cycle revision of the second-generation MKX in November 2017 for the 2019 model year. Adopting the styling of the newly introduced Continental and Navigator, the Nautilus transitioned from the previous split-wing grille to a large rectangular grille with a large Lincoln star emblem.
The counterpart of the updated Ford Edge, the Nautilus is slotted between the Aviator and the MKC (which was replaced by Corsair for the 2020 model year) in Lincoln's lineup. A 245-horsepower (248 PS; 183 kW) 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-four is the standard engine, with a 335-horsepower (340 PS; 250 kW) 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 carried over from the MKX as an option; both engines are fitted with start-stop capability. An 8-speed automatic transmission is paired to both engines (replacing the previous 6-speed).
For the 2021 model year, the Nautilus was once again refreshed with a new interior similar to the new Navigator, Aviator, and Corsair, featuring a larger 13.2" touchscreen and Ford's latest SYNC 4 system. Minor changes were also made to the front bumper.

Common Lincoln Nautilus problems
The Lincoln Nautilus, a luxury crossover SUV, has its fair share of common problems across various model years. While the vehicle is generally reliable, certain issues have been reported by owners, particularly with the 2019 model year.
One of the most common problems with the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus involves the transmission. Owners have reported jerky shifting, unexpected stalling, and complete transmission failure in severe cases. These issues can be particularly concerning for drivers, as they may lead to safety hazards on the road.
Electronic troubles are another common complaint among 2019 Nautilus owners. Problems with the infotainment system have been noted, including lagging response times, system crashes, and difficulties with navigation features. These issues can be frustrating for drivers, as they may affect the overall user experience and functionality of the vehicle's technology.
Interior concerns have also been reported for the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. Some drivers have mentioned that certain interior parts appear less durable and show early signs of wear. This can be disappointing for owners, as they may expect a higher level of quality and durability from a luxury vehicle.
While these issues have been reported, it's important to note that the Lincoln Nautilus has generally received high-reliability ratings from sources like J.D. Power. The vehicle's performance, interior, and safety features have received positive reviews, indicating that the Nautilus is a reliable choice for those seeking a luxury midsize SUV.
However, it's crucial for potential buyers to consider the maintenance history and care of each used vehicle, as this can significantly impact its dependability. A well-cared-for Nautilus from a reliable model year could potentially offer a more reliable ride than a neglected one from a later year.
In summary, while the Lincoln Nautilus has demonstrated strong reliability overall, certain model years, such as the 2019 model, have shown more issues than others. Potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider the vehicle's maintenance history when purchasing a used Nautilus.

- Summary: Reported to Lincoln over a year ago about DEATH WOBBLE on this vehicle. Have taken to 3 dealerships to have checked out and have not found anything. BUT IT IS STILL HAPPENNING. Have suggested to have an engineer from the company to ride along. Not happening. The keep closing the case. September of last year we were driving through Richmond, Virginia on our way to Florida and, it went into the DEATH WOBBLE at 65mph. Shook so bad it snapped my front hitch system and could not tow the car and had to be trailer towed to a dealership. There are other reports out there on the web of other people having the same issue. Was told at one point it could be my equipment. After it broke my system last September and almost lost the car, my insurance company paid to have car repaired and installed a NEW Blue Ox system and it did it again. This time at slower speed and I was able to control. Told ALL DEALERSHIPS AND LINCOLN howitzer is happening and steering is not going back to zero after I make a turn or hit a bump. No reaction. One dealership told me I should not be towing that car, but the car is set up to be towed, according to owners manual. Repair documentation is with Lincoln and insurance company, with all reports. Have a date of September of last year because that was the big one, but started August of 2023, March of 2024, August of 2024 2 times. Each time reported to Lincoln and taken to shop. Could have been a serious accident if I didn't control the motorhome and car.

- Summary: Rear hatch does not open. You can not manually open it from outside or inside. My wife had a flat on the highway and could not change her tire as she could not access it. Lincoln Nautilus 2020
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-09
- Date Complaint: 2024-07-13
- VIN: 2LMPJ8KP6LB
- Components: WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: When I took the vehicle in for service, I had to replace all 20 lug nuts as the dealer service department reported they were "swollen" and they were unable to complete the tire rotation. This also poses a safety risk as if I had a flat tire, I could not get them off to change a tire. They could also break causing stress on others and cause a wheel to come off of the vehicle. I was advised that this is a common problem with Ford/Lincoln vehicles, however there didn't seem to be any warranty coverage or safety recalls. If this is a common problem or some type of defect, it seems that I should not have had to spend $240 to replace them.

It seem fine so I went to grocery store and when I turned to go into a parking space it would not move as almost it was in neutral. Then my AWD Malfunction light came on so I called my husband and we were 5 minutes from dealer ship so we took it there and dropped it off. Monday, I called dealer ship to have them look at it and they told me that my rear differential motor had to be replaced at a cost of $1800 and it was not covered under power train warranty because the part did pop up when it was entered. Car only has 44K miles on it...Waiting on someone from Ford to call back to see why it is not covered.

Congratulations on your new 2020 Lincoln Nautilus Standard! It's wonderful to hear that you are completely satisfied with the baseline amenities. As someone who has owned, driven and seen just about every type of automobile, truck and motorcycle up to a price of $72,000, your opinion carries a lot of weight. It's great that you found a car that meets your needs of local driving plus occasional 14-hour trips to your second home. The comfortable leather seats, lots of head and shoulder room, good entertainment system and the quietest and smoothest ride on the highway sound perfect for your requirements. It's also fantastic that you were able to find a car that offers elegance that exceeds that of the neighbors’ family vans. It's great that you were able to get all of the above in this great new car, including a great dealer nearby, the best trade for your virtually new ¾ ton truck, and a great price. It's wonderful that you were able to get everything you wanted without having to spend more than necessary. Thank you for sharing your experience and recommendation to go shop!

Our 2020 Nautilus is a head turner. Its stylish looks, quiet and comfortable seats, and smooth ride make it an even bigger plus. Although there is a large 'hump' that houses the info screen and acts like a great wall between the driver and passenger seats (which has been addressed in the 2021 model), it is still a great vehicle. The I4 turbocharged engine is a pleasant surprise, especially when coupled with the 8-speed transmission.

The screen is fantastic and the interior features flow seamlessly. The display info is integrated into the front gauge panel, making it easy to access. The seats are amazing, and even in the Texas heat, my car is cool and comfortable within a minute thanks to the air cooling. The cabin is quiet, and the drive is smooth. The power of the 6-cylinder engine is exceptional, and the features are intuitive. My favorite feature this week is that turning off the ignition automatically puts the car in park, making parking a breeze. In the one-year update, I still love my car. The comfort is superior, and the seat heater plus massage feature lets you tune out everything and relax as a passenger. I feel confident in the power and acceleration available while still offering the smooth comfort of a Lincoln. Although there were a few glitches with the phone connection, I'm hoping to have it corrected in the first service appointment.

I absolutely love my 2021 Nautilus! It is an incredibly capable, comfortable, and quiet vehicle. The car is even quieter on the freeway than my 2017 Continental was - and that car was already very quiet. Driving the Nautilus is an absolute delight, with plenty of leg room and head room (even for someone as tall as me at 6'6''). The seats are incredibly comfortable and can be adjusted to fit any size person. I particularly enjoy the push button gear selector and the easy-to-use controls on the steering wheel and center console. I opted for the model without the sunroof because the sun can be so hot in Florida, and I never used the sunroof on my previous car. Not having the sunroof also gives me extra headroom. Everything about the Nautilus feels like quality, and I ordered the turbo four cylinder engine, which has more than enough power. The car is responsive, quick, and fun to drive, with excellent acceleration and braking. I also appreciate the automatic fold-down rear seats, which greatly increase the rear cargo space. I fully expect this excellent quality vehicle to be as reliable and trouble-free as my previous two Lincolns. The Nautilus comes with a 4-year warranty, which is a nice backup to have if there ever is a problem. I think this is a beautiful vehicle and I get many compliments on it. The only thing I would suggest to Lincoln is to offer more color choices for the interior. While the beige leather is beautiful and very nice, I would have chosen blue or red if those colors were available. I have been extremely pleased with my Lincoln dealer over the years. They do a great job and are very customer-focused. This is my third Lincoln after owning many high-end European luxury cars, and I can confidently say that the Lincoln is as good or better than those cars, and much less expensive for maintenance and repairs. If you are looking for a top-quality SUV, you should definitely give the Nautilus a look. UPDATE: I still absolutely love my 2021 Nautilus. It is an attractive, quick, quiet, comfortable, and well-handling vehicle. The seats are really comfortable and the Synch system is super easy to use and does a lot of things. It gets 21.6 mpg around town. So far everything works exactly like it did when new. This is a perfect sized crossover and it's very well made with quality materials.

I purchased the Reserve 2020 Nautilus and have experienced some issues with the system becoming laggy and not showing songs that are playing until a few minutes after starting the vehicle. Additionally, the back window initially refused to roll down more than a few inches, but began working again a few days later. While using lane assist, the car abruptly jolted me into the right lane, which was concerning. However, I am grateful that no one was around. The powertrain malfunction light came on the next day when I started the car, despite having barely driven it for two months and less than 1000 miles. I had it checked today, but they were unable to find any issues. Despite these challenges, I remain confident in the quality of my vehicle and trust that any issues will be resolved in due course.

Hello! I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share my experience with Caruso Lincoln in Long Beach, CA. In July 2022, I traded in my 2019 Nautilus (lease ended) for a 2022 Nautilus, which is my 5th Lincoln Nautilus (previously MKX) that I've leased since 2012. I have always been a big fan of Lincoln Nautilus and have had zero problems with the previous 4. However, this time around, I have noticed that the ride quality is not up to par with my previous experiences. The car feels rough, hard, and noisy, which is not what I expected from a luxury vehicle. Despite my efforts to improve the situation, Lincoln has not been able to provide a solution. I still have 2 1/2 years left on this lease, and I am hoping that we can work together to find a solution that will make me happy with my vehicle again. Thank you for your time and attention.

The rattles were fixed within eight months. However, there are currently issues with the seats tearing along perforations, tailgate gasket failing, and rear 'Lincoln' emblem falling off. Despite being a longtime Lincoln customer, Lincoln corporate has refused to address these issues. It is disappointing to receive such poor service, especially when out-of-town.

I recently purchased a 2021 Nautilus and unfortunately, I have encountered some issues. The backup camera has been replaced but it still seems to be glitchy. Additionally, the radio and windshield wipers have turned on unexpectedly, and the trunk has attempted to close on me a few times. The wind noise while driving is quite loud and concerning. However, I do appreciate the comfortable seats and the large screen, although I wish it could be more customizable. Overall, I am disappointed with my experience with the Nautilus. **Update Sept 2022** Unfortunately, the audio system and wind noise issues persist.

Despite initial satisfaction with the 2019 Nautilus, issues began to arise after three months of ownership. These included dropped calls through the speakers, a blank navigation screen, and side mirrors that closed while driving. Additionally, the car would reset at random intervals. Despite five visits to the dealer in the past five months, each lasting at least two weeks, the root of the problem remains elusive.
