Common 2010 Lexus Rx450 hybrid problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the Lexus RX450h Hybrid 2010, several common problems have been reported:
- Suspension Problems: The RX450h models are known to develop suspension issues, such as leaks in the system and quick wearing out of the compressor. These problems can affect the ride quality and stability of the vehicle, requiring repairs to the suspension components.
- Battery Drain: Some owners have reported that the battery of the RX450h goes flat after a few weeks of not being used. This can be inconvenient, especially in a hybrid car where the battery cannot be jump-started and requires trickle charging to prevent damage to the hybrid system circuits.
- Non-Engine Electrical Faults: Electrical issues with components like the media system and windows have been reported by RX450h owners. While Lexus has not issued a recall for these problems, they can impact the functionality of various electrical systems in the vehicle, requiring diagnosis and repair by an auto electrician.
- Actuator and ABS System: The actuator, a hydraulic component responsible for emergency braking control, can be unreliable in RX450h models, affecting the anti-lock braking system. Owners have reported the need to replace the actuator to ensure proper system function.

Addressing these issues promptly through professional repairs and maintenance can help ensure the longevity and optimal functioning of the RX450h hybrid system.

- Remedy: Toyota and Lexus will notify owners of affected vehicles and dealers will modify or replace the accelerator pedal and replace any driver's floor mat not specified for the vehicle. Owners of the Lexus vehicles were notified during August 2012. Toyota has not yet provided a notification schedule for the additional Land Cruiser vehicles.
