Lexus Is 350 problems

The Lexus IS (Japanese: レクサス・IS, Hepburn: Rekusasu IS) is a compact executive car (D-segment in Europe) sold by Lexus, a luxury division of Toyota, since 1998. The IS was originally sold under the Toyota Altezza (Japanese: トヨタ・アルテッツァ, Hepburn: Toyota Arutettsua) nameplate in Japan from 1998 (the word Altezza is Italian for 'height' or 'highness'). The IS was introduced as an entry-level sport model positioned below the ES in the Lexus lineup.
The first-generation Altezza (codename XE10) was launched in Japan in October 1998, while the Lexus IS 200 (GXE10) made its debut in Europe in 1999 and in North America as the IS 300 (JCE10) in 2000. The first-generation models were powered by a straight-six engine and available in sedan and wagon variants. The second-generation IS (codename XE20) was launched globally in 2005 with V6-powered IS 250 (GSE20) and IS 350 (GSE21) sedan models, followed by a high-performance V8 sedan version, the IS F, in 2007, and coupé convertible versions, the IS 250 C and IS 350 C, in 2008. The third-generation Lexus IS premiered in January 2013 and includes the V6-powered IS 350 and IS 250, turbocharged IS 200t/300, hybrid IS 300h and performance-tuned F Sport variants. The IS designation stands for "Intelligent Sport".
First generation (XE10; 1998)
Produced as a direct competitor to the luxury sports sedans of the leading European luxury marques, the XE10 series Toyota Altezza and Lexus IS was designed with a greater performance emphasis than typically seen on prior Japanese luxury vehicles. The engineering work was led by Nobuaki Katayama from 1994 to 1998 under the 038T program code, who was responsible for the AE86 project. Design work which had been done in 1995 by Tomoyasu Nishi was frozen in 1996 and filed under patent number 1030135 on 5 December 1996, at the Japan Patent Office. At its introduction to Japan, it was exclusive to Japanese dealerships called Toyota Netz Store, until Lexus was introduced to Japan in 2006. The Japan-sold AS200 Altezza sedan and AS300 Altezza Gita correspond to the Lexus IS 200 and IS 300 models respectively, as sold in markets outside of Japan. The Lexus IS' primary markets were North America, Australia, and Europe. The Altezza Gita was a hatchback-station wagon version sold in Japan and was known in the US and Europe as the Lexus IS SportCross. The AS300 Altezza Gita was the only Altezza with the 2JZ-GE engine; in export markets this engine was available in the sedan models as well as the Lexus IS300 Sedan.

- Summary: THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2020 IS350 THAT I HAVE HAD FOR LESS THAN A MONTH IS ALREADY SCUFFED. I WAS SIMPLY TRYING TO SWIPE A PIECE OF HAIR OFF OF THE DASH AND IT LEFT A SCUFF ON THE DASHBOARD THAT WILL NOT COME OUT. I AM DEVASTATED AS I SPENT $50,000 ON THIS CAR AND HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN IMMACULATE CARE OF MY VEHICLES; HOWEVER, SIMPLY WIPING THE DASH HAS CAUSED IRREVERSIBLE SCUFFS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I DO SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER LEXUS OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. IS THERE AN EXISTING RECALL FOR THIS THAT CAN BE EXTENDED INTO THE 2020S? I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH ANY OTHER LUXURY VEHICLES THAT I'VE EVER OWNED FOR 5+ YEARS.

Vehicle year: 2012
I recently upgraded from a 2004 IS 300 (which I bought new) to a 2012 IS 350 (used). After a month of driving, here are my initial impressions: Firstly, the IS 350 automatic has a slower start compared to my beloved manual transmission IS300. Even in sport mode, there is a significant delay when accelerating, especially when exiting a corner. However, the IS 350 has more torque and better acceleration on the highway. Secondly, I feel the weight difference and the IS350 has more understeer, which requires more correction in turns. However, the IS350 with the 225/45 and 245/45 tires provides excellent grip on corners. Thirdly, the modern comforts of the IS350 are impressive, including Bluetooth, a great stereo that is tuned to the cabin, and a quieter interior. The keyless entry is also a great feature. Lastly, I expect the IS350 to be as reliable as my previous car, which was extremely dependable for the 14 years I owned it. In conclusion, while the IS350 is more of a comfort car than a driver's car, I will continue to drive it for a year until I find the perfect driver's car with the same level of reliability that I am searching for.

The IS 350 is a fantastic luxury sedan sports car that offers great value for money. It boasts impressive speed, with only a few other cars on the market being faster, such as the Corvette, Viper, or 911 turbo. The luxury package is highly recommended, as it includes a convenient TALKING map navigation system (named 'Lexy'), keyless pushbutton starting, parking camera, and easy sunroof operation. The map navigation system alone is worth the extra $5k it costs.

The car is almost perfect, but unfortunately a few details prevent it from being so. The balance between luxury and sportiness is unparalleled, and the ML stereo sounds wonderful. However, XM sounds subpar due to signal compression, which is not Lexus's fault. The navigation system could use some improvement, as it suffers from obvious language and requirement translation issues during the design cycle. It's a shame that it has some limitations and is not very user-friendly, as nothing about it is intuitive. The speech recognition is not the best, as it struggles to recognize simple commands, making it unusable. Additionally, Bluetooth only auto-connects with one phone, which is inconvenient. The steering wheel controls are also quite limited, which means constantly navigating menus. Overall, the car has some areas for improvement, but it's still a great choice.

I have been leasing a Lexus IS350 with the F-Sport option for the past 3 years and it has been an absolute joy to drive. In May, I will be turning it in, but before I do, I wanted to share my honest review. Although I'm not a race car driver, I can confidently say that this car feels incredibly sporty to me. It has plenty of pickup, great handling, and a snappy suspension. The infotainment system is fantastic, and I especially love the 2nd display sitting behind the steering wheel. It's top-notch and has plenty of bling and wow factor. The best part is that it's functional, allowing you to do 2 things at once (music + navigation for example). The voice activation is decent enough, and I really grew to like the center console

I had to choose between the Audi A6 3.0 and the Lexus IS 350, which are two completely different cars. Although the A4, which is more comparable to the IS 350, felt too small for me. After test driving both, I decided to go for a used 2016 ISF AWD 350 with very low miles. I'm so glad I did! It's a very fun car to drive and I was pleasantly surprised by its acceleration, which was not as sluggish as some reviews had led me to believe. While it may not be as quick as the Audi, it still provides adequate acceleration. I absolutely love the rioja red interior, it really stands out from other cars. The digital dash is cool and the interior is spacious enough to comfortably seat my two teenagers. Although the sound system is not the best, it's still good enough. The AWD system does create a bump, but it doesn't bother me at all and my leg doesn't rest on it like some people's do. The trunk space is a bit small, but I'm used to something bigger coming from a 4runner. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. The Lexus IS is a stylish and sexy car to drive and I find the reliability of Lexus to be very comforting.

I purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle from a Lexus dealership that was 5 years old and had just under 70k miles. Unfortunately, the car experienced at least one major issue or recall every year. Within the first 4 years of ownership, the car died on me three times while driving and had to be towed to the dealership. At the 5 year mark with 150k miles, I had to replace a CAT which cost over $1000. Additionally, the car burns a quart of oil every 300 miles due to piston rings. In my opinion, the $30k spent on this 5-year-old car was not worth it. However, I am excited about the future of mainstream electric cars.

I test drove several cars including the 335i, G35, G37, Acura TL, and A4. In my opinion, the BMW was the best driving car in every aspect. It was more refined, fluid, and precise by far. However, I ultimately chose the IS for its reliability and my wife's preference for the interior. Unfortunately, the IS has been in the shop four times for squeaks and rattles. Compared to the BMW, the car handles like a Buick, with a harsh suspension and needless understeer, always pushing and sliding the front end beyond the intended arc. Additionally, there is no feel in the controls such as steering, throttle, and brakes. If you are near retirement age and prefer a mellow driving experience, this car is great. On the positive side, the fit and finish are great and the car does have a strong engine.

Hey there! I used to drive a 2001 BMW 330, but I recently switched to a Lexus and I'm loving it! The Lexus is so much quieter than my old BMW and it's packed with luxury features. Although some people say it looks like a compact car, I still think it's a first-class ride. Of course, it does come with a higher price tag, but I plan on keeping it for at least 5 years. I'm excited to see how it holds up over time!

The exterior of the car looks great and it has a lot of power. However, the interior falls short. As a 2014 model, Lexus missed the mark, especially when it comes to modern electronics. Some of the design flaws include: the compass pointer appearing to point in the opposite direction, poor map utility, no change holder for coins, a cup holder that is too narrow for anything other than a small cup, no designated spot for your phone, missing featured buttons on the radio such as the Scan button, no memory setting for seats/mirrors, poor turn signal design, poor dash display, and muffled radio highs. We hope that Lexus will take these issues into consideration for future models.
