Jaguar Xe problems

The Jaguar XE (X760) is a car manufactured by Jaguar Land Rover and marketed under their Jaguar marque since April 2015. A large family car, it has a four-door saloon car body style and is aimed at the compact-executive market segment. It is front engined and sold with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The successor to the X-Type, it was designed by Ian Callum and launched at the October 2014 Paris Motor Show.
The XE is noted for its aluminium suspension componentry as well as its bonded and riveted aluminium unitary structure — the first in its segment.
Launch
The XE was announced, but not displayed, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and debuted globally on 8 September 2014 in London. Sales were expected to begin globally in 2015, followed by the United States in 2016. Production formally commenced on 13 April 2015 at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant.

Common Jaguar Xe problems
The Jaguar XE, a compact sedan designed to compete with the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C Class, and Lexus IS, has faced several common problems over the years. While Jaguar has offered luxury car buyers an alternative to traditional German and Japanese automakers, the XE has had its share of issues.
One of the most significant problems with the Jaguar XE is related to fuel leaks. There have been multiple recalls due to fuel leaks, affecting models produced between November 2016 and June 2016.
Another issue that has plagued the Jaguar XE is related to the engine. The engine may cut out due to the fuel feed detaching on some cars manufactured until 25 February 2016. Any affected XE will need to have an extra clamp fitted to the relevant hose at a Jaguar dealer to sort this issue.
The XE has also had problems with its seatbelt pretensioners. There have been two recalls for the pretensioners not operating correctly in a collision. The first applies to XEs made between 16 February and 16 December 2016, while the second relates only to the one for the driver's seat of cars constructed between 22 September 2015 and 23 March 2016.
The Jaguar XE has also faced issues with its instrument cluster. A software issue on vehicles made between 1 September 2016 and 17 August 2017 can lead to the instrument cluster going blank intermittently. A software update should be able to sort this issue.
The XE's engine choices are now very limited, and owners have reported problems with brakes, suspension, electrics, and gearbox/clutch.
In the 2023 What Car? Reliability Survey, the Jaguar XE ranked 17th out of 24 cars in the executive car class, with 11.3% of owners experiencing issues. Exhaust and non-engine electrical issues were the main issues owners cited, accounting for 8.6% of faults each. Suspension and engine electrical issues were also problems, with a fault rate of 5.7% each.
In summary, the Jaguar XE has faced several common problems, including fuel leaks, engine issues, seatbelt pretensioner failures, instrument cluster software issues, and various other electrical and mechanical problems. While Jaguar has offered luxury car buyers an alternative to traditional German and Japanese automakers, the XE has had its share of issues, affecting its overall reliability and build quality.
Do Jaguar XE have problems?
The 2.0L diesel Ingenium engine found in the XE is also fitted to many other vehicles across the Jaguar Land Rover range and timing chain issues are unfortunately very common on this engine. The timing chains stretch over time and if not replaced can cause irreparable engine damage.
Is a Jaguar XE a reliable car?
Is a used Jaguar XE saloon reliable? Our data suggests the Jaguar XE is substandard for reliability. In our 2023 What Car? Reliability Survey, it ranked 17th out of 24 cars in the executive car class, with 11.3% of owners experiencing issues.
What is the lifespan of a Jaguar XE?
What is Jaguar Xe lifespan? The estimated lifespan of a Jaguar Xe is 131,000mi, before reaching the life expectancy upper limit. Fuel type is a major factor when looking into a vehicles lifespan/life expectancy.
Is a Jaguar XE expensive to maintain?
The XE undercuts its rivals considerably, costing less than 40ppm over a four-year cycle, making it as cheap to run as a Tesla Model 3. The XE is no less of a car that its German rivals, either.

It's great to hear that your car is still performing well after a year! Although there are some minor annoyances such as not being able to change presets from the steering wheel and the lack of a heated seat button, it still drives beautifully. I recently purchased the 35t and I must say, if you're looking for a high-performance sport sedan, this is definitely the car for you! However, there are some limitations to the interior functionality such as the front parking seats not working unless you push the parking button each time you're getting ready to park, and the steering wheel radio controls being very limited. Additionally, the presets are separated by band (am/fm/Xm) and cannot be combined, and the heads-up display is very basic when compared to other models and doesn't project well. The auto stop-start setting defaults back to active every time you start the car, and phone controls are limited from the steering wheel. That being said, when you floor the gas, all of these problems are forgotten! I also found that the voice recognition for phone dialing is faster and more accurate than Siri. Overall, it's a great car and I'm glad I made the purchase!

I'm almost into the second year of my leased 35t AWD Premium model and I have mixed emotions, but overall I still love the car. The engine, handling/suspension, steering, transmission, and basically everything involving the driving experience are amazing! However, I would never buy this vehicle or any Jag used or without a FULL warranty. Unfortunately, within my first year of ownership, it had to be serviced several times. A part on my sunroof broke upon my first use of it, and within its first 1,000 miles, they had to replace a part to fix the wind/bug deflector that pops up when you open the sunroof. Then the infotainment system went completely dead. For weeks, I had issues with it, and it seriously frustrated me because without the infotainment system working, I couldn't listen to music, use my hands-free device, adjust climate settings, use heated seats, or use the backup camera. It was awful. It was so bad that even when it was 'dead', it drained my battery even when the car was locked and not in use. One morning, my car almost didn't start because it had drained the battery so far. Obviously, I had to take my Jaguar to the service department at least twice until they decided to give me a loaner car until they could officially fix the issue. They told me that Jaguar was aware of the issue with the infotainment system but had not released a software update yet to fix it, and were being told it would be at least 1 month before a software update would be available. That floored me, and I called corporate offices and sent an email to them expressing my extreme unhappiness with the situation. I was paying for a brand new expensive luxury vehicle under full warranty, and I couldn't use half of the options of the car! The dealership was offering me a loaner until the update became available, but I was given a Jaguar case manager, and they contacted the dealership service department and issued them an order to replace my entire infotainment system with a new one.At first, I was a bit skeptical because it was the same system, but my car was in the shop for a full week as they had to completely take the whole system out and replace it. Therefore, I would never buy a Jaguar used or without a full warranty, as this would have cost me thousands of dollars. Luckily, after it was fixed, I have had no issues at all. The car is still a dream to drive, and I love driving it around town and on twisty roads at high speeds. It is also fairly comfortable for long-distance driving. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I have gotten 38mpg on the highway at reasonable speeds, and it can quickly go lower when driven hard, but it is capable of 35+ mpg when driven right. This thing practically idles at 70 mph with the 8-speed transmission and the engine power driving it. I wish they would stop putting continental tires on these cars, as I really can’t stand them, but so far, they are doing OK. Obviously, the back seat is far too small, but coming from a 2-door Mercedes, I didn’t think too much of it. The car is very difficult to get in and out of, especially for me since I am tall and my seat position makes it difficult to get out of. The sound system is just OK, definitely a big downgrade from my Harman Kardon Logic 7, which was disappointing to find out. Also, there is no SiriusXM, but rolling down the windows and just enjoying the 35t exhaust is the best! It sounds great! I think Jaguar is doing great things with their new designs, warranty and lease programs, and the driving experience of their new vehicles. I drove an F-Pace 35t while my XE was in the shop, and I loved that car so much that I am considering rolling into the F-Pace when my lease is up. Jaguar also makes you feel valued as a customer with their “gifts” that they send to you in the mail. They sent me some valve stem caps in a nifty case that I got a kick out of receiving. They also send a subscription to their new magazine for owners. The Jaguar app for your phone is nice.I really enjoy my vehicle, although there are a few things that could be improved. Sometimes the app for remote starting the car can be glitchy, and it's not always reliable to use your phone for this feature. It would be great to have a remote start button on the key fob for added convenience. The driving experience is fantastic, and the car has a lot of power under the hood. While it's more of a sports car than a luxury vehicle, that's what makes it so compelling. The technology and sound system could be better, and there could be more storage up front. Unfortunately, the resale value is not great. Overall, I'm still very happy with my vehicle and would recommend it to others.

I completely agree that some Jaguar sedan models may have a less luxurious interior compared to their competitors. However, the 35T Prestige model is an exception. It boasts a very luxurious leather interior that can easily compete with the best in the market. The AWD and supercharged 6 cylinder engine may be expensive options, but they truly transform the car into the luxury vehicle you've always dreamed of. It's incredibly fast, fuel-efficient, and comes with the best warranty of any luxury car. Although the back seat may be a little tight, it's still comfortable for two people or two plus kids. Perhaps, making the front dashboard on the passenger side about 2 inches shallower could solve this issue. Having owned a Mercedes and a Volvo, I can confidently say that this model is better than either of them. I would advise against wasting your money on any of those overpriced 4 cyl models that every manufacturer is pushing. When you step on the gas in a Jag, you know you made the right choice. We absolutely love our 35T, which is now four years old, and I still stand by my original comments. It's a fantastic car with an excellent warranty and top-notch service.

Vehicle year: 2018
After owning BMWs and Mercedes for many years, I decided to switch things up and go for a Jaguar XE. I've been thoroughly enjoying it since January 2017 after a couple of test drives convinced me. I'm leasing the R-Sport in Caesium Blue with black/blue interior, black wheels and detailing. The car is absolutely gorgeous! I constantly receive compliments and thumbs-up from other drivers. I love the exclusivity of the brand as I see all the BMWs and MBs on the road around me. Although I'm 66 and in excellent shape, the entrance/egress can still be a bit uncomfortable, but once I'm in the car, I don't want to leave. The seating positions are extremely comfortable, the suspension is fabulous, and the car grips the road and doesn't let go. The acceleration is exceptionally responsive, and the gas mileage is fair for a V6 that drives like this, up to around 22.5mpg. However, the interior lacks design and aesthetic importance, as well as quality materials. For example, the shift levels mounted on the steering wheel are thin short black plastic surfaces, as though an afterthought. The very narrow opening of the sliding sunroof was a huge disappointment for me. The biggest problem with this car is side visibility. It's great that the car has signals in the side-view mirrors when a car is approaching, but without it, you're dealing with a death wish. The design of the thick seats and headrests and the wide side pillars make it virtually impossible to peer over your shoulder on either side to see what's around you. Additionally, there is very little space to store items, the rotary drive knob is too prominent and eats up too much plastic space, and there have been a few electrical glitches that haven't caused any problems (yet). Overall, you wouldn't find a comparably-equipped or performing BMW, Audi or MB for this price. I have no regrets, and I look forward to my next Jaguar when my lease expires. Hopefully, they'll figure out some of these redesigns.

The car looked great at first, but after owning it for over a year, I've had some issues. The paintwork seems to scratch easily compared to other cars I've owned, even though I take really good care of my cars. When washing the roof of the car, the roof panel behind the sunroof gives way and dents in. I'm not sure if this is a safety concern, but it does make me worry. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any safety ratings on this car. The backseat isn't designed for kids, and the seat belts lock up continuously for no reason, which can be a big issue when your child is a highback booster and can't get their belt buckled. The seatbelt won't unlock unless it's fully retracted, which can't happen unless you remove the belt from the belt guide in the booster. Also, the boosters overhang the seatbelt receptacle. Long story short, I wouldn't recommend this car if you have kids. The leather or pleather on the center console armrest has a big air bubble where the glue is no longer holding the material to the under-surface. Additionally, a speaker has blown in the front passenger side. Overall, it seems like this car is cheaply made for its price point.

I purchased this vehicle on 11/2/2017 and it definitely turns heads with its magical looks. However, I have been experiencing some issues with it. The front space is quite limited and as someone who is 5'7'', I find it difficult to reach the window at drive-up windows. The home link has not worked despite several attempts with customer service. Additionally, the sunroof and sunshade buttons require being held to open and close, and the gas saver has stopped working. I have also skinned my shin a few times getting in the car. Despite these issues, I am taking the car to the dealership for repairs tomorrow. Although I am disappointed with the quality of the vehicle, I must say that it has great mileage. The speaker system and radio presets are not up to Jaguar's usual standards, but the car looks great. The steering wheel is manually operated, which may not be ideal for some. The dealership polished over many scratches, but they became noticeable after the first car wash. The trunk is also quite small. Overall, I am not satisfied with my purchase and am considering other options such as the Benz E Class or Audi A6. What do you think? Any suggestions? (3/15/18)

The 2017 did not meet my expectations because when I decided to drive the car, a light came on saying that all four tires needed air, and the exclamation mark within a triangle was also on. When I looked in the manual, it showed at least four possible options of what could be wrong. Then I went online and couldn't find the answer to my questions, so I called the dealership. Unfortunately, they were unable to schedule an appointment for me until next week or the week after. Although I really like the car, I am returning it because I don't know what is wrong with it. It would have been helpful to receive a copy of the inspection, as I was told that all of your cars go through inspection before being shipped out.

I am confident to state that the car was returned two weeks ago and the writer expressed great satisfaction in no longer possessing it, as evidenced by their statement of 'Zero stars'.
