Infiniti Qx30 problems

The Infiniti QX30 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Nissan's Infiniti luxury brand. It is heavily based on the Q30 hatchback with modifications mainly in its ride height in order for it to be marketed as a crossover. Both the Q30 and the QX30 are based on the first-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA and the third-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The QX30 was manufactured from 2016 to mid-2019, at the same time the brand withdrew from Europe altogether.
Concept model
The QX30 Concept featured 21-inch wheels, large tires, and increased blackout around the wheel opening, with a satin chrome front bumper. It was introduced at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show, followed by the 2015 New York International Auto Show.
Production model
Based on the Infiniti Q30, the QX30 includes redesigned front and rear bumpers, grained side sills, as well as bodywork finished with satin chrome plated inserts with metallic finish along with an increased ride height. The QX30 was unveiled at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show and the 2015 Auto Guangzhou, followed by the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
US and Canada models went on sale in the middle of 2016 as model year 2017 vehicles, with a 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine with 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, followed by Mexico and Latin America in the second half of 2016.
European models went on sale in the summer of 2016. Early models included 2.2d AWD with 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

- Summary: Hello. My vin number is not showing unresolved recalls, but I believe it is based on my experience. I was parking my car, which involved turning my steering wheel all the way to the right, and heard a crunching, clicking sound. I did some teoubleshooting, and believe it is the clock spring giving out. What concerns me is 1 of the 4 recalls in particular. Infiniti recalled the 2017 and 2018 QX30 compact crossover SUV due to a potential for the driver's airbag to deploy unexpectedly. The recall was issued due to a grounding issue with the steering components that could cause an electrostatic charge to build up. If the airbag clock spring broke, the driver's side airbag could deploy accidentally, which could result in a crash or injury to the driver. When I called Sewell Infiniti in Dallas, TX, I was told they had no recalls showing for my 2017 QX30, and to look at it would cost $240. I am currently not in a place financially to be able to afford this, but am concerned for my safety. I bought this car used from Carmax, but have since taken it to Sewell Infiniti for service and repairs. Please advise the best course of action as I am truly scared to drive my car due to this potentially deadly situation.

- Summary: Hello, My 2018 Infiniti QX30 slips into neutral while driving on the road at high speeds and without any warning. The message on the dash is vague “Service required. Do not shift gears. Visit Dealer.” I almost got into an accident more than once while driving the vehicle as low power to the vehicle accompanies this when it happens. I had absolutely no problems with the vehicle leading up to the first occurrence. In fact, I bought the car with less than 10k miles on it from Infiniti directly, where it was a fleet loner vehicle and well maintained. My car today has 56,000 miles and it is only a 2018. Two months and three car shops later, the issue remains unresolved. Infiniti said at first this was just a dead battery. A day later the issue resurfaced, where I also received a transmission control error. My service tech at Infiniti admitted that it is 90% Mercedes under the hood and they only have flowcharts to diagnose the issue. They recommended replacing a steering control column for $2k and could not answer me when I asked what that has to do with the error. I pulled it out for a second opinion and have confirmed nothing mechanical with the transmission, it is electrical. A quick google search for “Infiniti QX30 Service required do not shift gears visit dealer” yields an unprecedented number of complaints on forums of a widespread issue involving the transmission control unit for this vehicle. This issue needs to be looked at from a governing authority and my attempts to speak with the dealership about the issue has fallen on deaf ears. I learned the hard way that from 2017-2019, Infiniti collaborated with Mercedes on this vehicle and 90% of what is under the hood is Mercedes. It is the sister model to the Mercedes GLA who experienced similar issues, and the 2019 Mercedes GLA recalled their models for the same transmission control unit failure. A Google search for the same 2017-2019 era with Mercedes GLA yields starkingly similar forums from those owners.

- Summary: While driving vehicle warning message appeared on cluster saying “ABS INOPERABLE” with ABS and traction control lights on. Minutes later all power steering is gone and vehicle is very difficult to steer. This not only put me in danger but also my passengers and others on the road as well. This has happened multiple times. Brought the vehicle to the infinity dealer to be told I needed 2 new batteries. Bought new batteries and is still happening. The owner manual says to rock steering wheel side to side while driving 12mph to reset. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I have read multiple complaints on different forums for the same issue I am complaining about. Is Infinity waiting for someone to be injured or killed due to this malfunction before they issue a recall and fix this problem? In addition to this electronic issue I have also had other lights appear for “reverse not possible”, maintenance required, as well as others I can not remember at this time. Clearly there is an electrical issue with these vehicles.

- Summary: I have had issues with the vehicle since purchasing it from Carmaxx in June 2021. I noticed the vehicle had extremely low miles and may have been involved in a traffic accident unreported as there is carriage noise and suspension noise as if it is loose. I reported a concern to the manufacturer when I initially received the vehicle and was brushed off by the manufacturer and not assisted. There are issues with the engine and I believe the driving system has been hacked or compromised as I have been having issues with the engine for some time so I became discourage to reported it locks up and does not allow the car to start. I believe the driving system has been electronically been compromised and hacked.

- Summary: My vehicle is never been in an accident, but it is showing SRS malfunction. Nissan dealer took 2500$ to do all the services (Coolant, battery change, etc..) and gave me rejection sticker for state inspection and said I need to get this SRS issue fixed from infiniti dealer. And infiniti dealer says they have to replace the Airbag Control Module and quoting an other 2500$ spending 5000$ on a 10000$ car is not making sense, where equipment is going bad by itself. - Summary: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I am not entirely sure what specific part of my car is causing this issue, but from the research I have done regarding other people with my make/model of the car, it seems like it is something with the electrical system/auxiliary battery. Yes, it can be examined upon request at this time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My car has an ecostart button that is automatically on when you get into the car, and there is no way to turn it off unless you remember to press the button to turn it off manually. My car (and many other people's cars with this make/model) have described the exact same issue when driving. The ecostart is malfunctioning. The engine will shut off at a red light, and when I go to lift my foot off the brake to go again, the car will make a loud popping noise and shut off entirely. A message pops up that says "Do not shift gears. See dealership." I have to physically turn the car on and off again to move, and I only figured this out after having been stuck at a red light in the middle of traffic. It is not safe that this car will completely lose functionality in the middle of traffic. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I took it to a mechanic that confirmed the check engine light was on for an ecostart code, but they could not figure out why the code was being pulled. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? I only received a message when the car started failing. There were times where the car would make the popping noise, the radio would turn off, and then it would slowly come back on without the entire car shutting off.

- Summary: The auxiliary battery located underneath the interior glove compartment went dead and the car was inoperable. I called Infinity and they would not help me. There was no information relating to this small battery either on internet or Infinity website. I finally had to have a friend drive me to the Coconut Creek Infinity service where they could not give me information but could repair only. The seatbelt on both driver and passenger continually lock up causing undo constriction and stress on eithr passenger. The moonroof electrical retractable interior lining which I have never used maybe 2 times since purchased bunched up two days ago and I cannot get it to close properly. The 2018 Infinity QX30 was purchased December 22, 2020. The warranty is 50,000 miles or 4 years. I have 53,000 miles and Infinity will not honor fixing the moonroof. Many Infinity owners have reported the same moonroof problem on this 2018 Infinity QX30 and because it was in the 1000's it should be a recall for this make/model.

- Summary: The accelerator position sensor and the related wiring is defective. It loses power during acceleration and does not accelerate properly. My safety and the safety of others is at risk because it has lost power while in 65-70 mph traffic which almost caused an accident. The dealer has confirmed this issue is with the wiring harness connection to the accelerator. I contacted the manufacturer but they were not willing to assist me, and have not inspected the vehicle. I will request the dealer to give me the defective parts once the repair is complete. Shortly before losing power, the following warning flashes: "emergency brake inoperative" and the stabilitrak/traction control light comes on and says to check the owners manual(manual does not provide explanation for this issue)

I live in a very dangerous city, and my car not working has placed me in a dangerous concern for my well-being. Vehicle year: 2018
This is our first 'entry' sort of vehicle and it feels anything but. We brought a fully loaded red QX30S and it is stunning! If you're looking for a car to lease, the lease deals on this car are great. However, if you plan on keeping your car for 10+ years like I do, leasing might not be the best option for you. I would not recommend this car as a main car if you have a family with young kids, as a bigger SUV would be more suitable. However, I would definitely recommend it as a weekend or smaller daily driver. As someone who owns many cars, I needed something practical and daily driveable with more space, but also with that fun factor. After test driving several cars, including the Range Rover Sport V8, Cayenne, Macan GTS, and GLC 43 SUV and Coupe, I fell in love with the Infiniti QX30S. It's a huge head turner, especially because of the beautiful red pearl paint. We surprisingly get compliments on it all the time. The Sport trim comes with every option besides the adaptive cruise, but that's okay because this car is easy and fun to drive anyways. Even though we got the sport model, the ride quality is not harsh and it handles great. You can feel the bumps a little more than higher luxury cars, but it's not a big issue. We have always had powerful W12, V8, and V6 engines, so we were extremely skeptical about coming to a turbo 4, but this car flies! Having a G35 alongside this car, I do not feel it is underpowered. It zips and is great in the city or highway. There are no problems passing cars at 80+mph. We've only seen one of these on the road in the 5 months we've had it, but it's definitely a car that turns heads. If you're looking for a practical and fun car, the Infiniti QX30S is definitely worth considering.I was pleasantly surprised by how well the FWD car handled in the Florida rain, it felt safe and secure. We always leave it in Eco mode as it suits our driving style, although the sport mode is also great with its dual clutch transmission and expensive feeling paddle shifters. The only downside is the Auto-start stop system, which can be a bit finicky at times. However, the gas mileage is impressive, and I usually get 24-26 mpg in terrible rush hour traffic and up to 31 mpg on stretches. The interior is surprisingly roomy, and the cargo space is plenty for our needs. The features in this car are plentiful and surprising for the price, including full LED lights, parking features, and a great navigation system. Overall, I am very happy with this car and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and feature-packed vehicle. The Bose surround sound is pretty good. The seats (specific to the sport model) are lovely. As a first-time owner, I was impressed by the black leather with white sides, contrast stitching, and suede inserts, which provide amazing comfort when stuck in traffic. After months of searching for the perfect car, I finally decided on this one, and I couldn't be happier. UPDATE: After 3k miles, I still love the car. The only issue I had was with the pano roof shade, which needed replacing under warranty. UPDATE: After 6k miles, the car still turns heads, and I haven't had any problems. The only thing I wish was different is that the gas tank was larger for city driving, but that's just me nitpicking. If you're considering getting one, I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, they've been discontinued, and I'm not sure why. UPDATE: After 7.5k miles, I can say that long trips are great, except for the small tank. I even cruised at 90 for 200 miles with no problem. The car is extremely safe, with knee airbags and sound protection for your ears in case of an accident. This car saved my life, and I'm extremely thankful. However, it was unfortunately totaled in the accident. It was such a beautiful car, but I'm grateful to be alive.

I understand that the QX30 may not be the perfect car for everyone. However, I was looking for a change from my Mazda CX-9 due to its poor fuel economy and unnecessary size. With my kids grown up and my dogs gone, I decided to simplify my life and treat myself to something unique. The QX30 is just that - compact and stylish. The turbocharged 4-cylinder engine provides me with passing speed and effortless merging into traffic. The driver's seat is exceptionally comfortable, making it a fun car to drive. On the downside, there is limited cargo space, and the car is not suitable for families or taller individuals. The infotainment system can be complicated and confused when multiple devices are connected. However, I am happy with my decision to switch to a smaller vehicle, and I do not miss the extra cargo or seating. The compact styling is more efficient and prevents me from buying unnecessary items. Additionally, the lack of seating keeps unwanted passengers out of my car. While some people complain about the visibility, I find it easier to see what's around me than in my old SUV. Lastly, the decision to lease the QX30 made it easier for me to transition to a smaller vehicle. It sounds like you're enjoying it for the time being, but you're also considering other options. It's not something you plan on keeping long-term, and it reminds you of your 1969 Karmann Ghia, which was also fun for a short while.

undefinedThe adaptive LED headlights are really cool because they turn with the steering wheel, and the auto high beam feature was easy to appreciate. Learning the controls and buttons of a new car can be a bit of a challenge, but the QX30 has been very easy to navigate. Even features like the seat position knobs on the door panel, which are influenced by Mercedes, are easy to use. Although there are a few small complaints, such as having to hold the memory seat button instead of just touching it and the steering wheel volume being on the right side, they wouldn't stop us from buying the car again. We were able to get an amazing low price and scored a 7-year, 100K wrap warranty for about half the asking price from a Chicago Infiniti dealer. With three dealers in Chicago, the competition is great for the consumer! We've only driven 1500 miles so far, but we already love our QX30!

If you're searching for a family car, this might not be the best option. However, if you're looking for a versatile vehicle with excellent acceleration, fuel efficiency, and moderate off-road capability, then this is the perfect choice!

It's great to hear that you're getting used to driving your new crossover, even though it's quite different from your previous BMW sedans. It's wonderful that you chose this car for its advanced safety features, such as the blind spot warning and parking sensors, as well as the 360-degree live view. The self-parking feature is a standout, and it works flawlessly! The car handles corners beautifully and provides a smooth ride. While there are some drawbacks, such as the loud engine and some poorly placed controls, it's great to see that you're still enjoying the car. It's a shame that there aren't enough USB ports and the voice controls don't always respond to your commands. Additionally, it would be nice to have an onboard computer to store your music, and the car is smaller than expected. Although the price is high and the gas mileage isn't ideal, overall, it seems like you made a good choice. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!

The Infiniti QX30 has a sleek and stylish design, although it falls short compared to other luxury compact SUVs such as the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Lexus N200t. The suspension is stiff, which I personally prefer for better handling, but it can make the ride feel a bit bumpy (be careful with your drinks!). Additionally, there are some blind spots and the electronic controls on the dashboard can be difficult to reach and adjust. On the positive side, the seats are incredibly comfortable, the gas mileage is good, and the car has a sporty and stylish exterior. I was able to lease it at a great price and I'm happy with my decision not to purchase it.

Although the interior compartment is very nice and it caught my attention, I found the vehicle to be impractical. Unfortunately, there is no place to store even sunglasses and the owners manual is too big to fit in the glove box. Additionally, the car lacks a power hatch, which is surprising for a luxury car. The sight lines are also poor, with low visibility out the rear and sides of the car. However, the glass panoramic roof does make it feel less cramped. The back seat has very little leg and headroom for an average size adult. The car is underpowered and whines through the lower gears, which is not what I would expect from a luxury car. The road noise is also quite loud, but the handling is one of the few positives. The ride is very stiff and you feel every bump and expansion joint, even on the highway. Overall, I found the car to be impractical and disappointing, and I ultimately returned it after 3 weeks.

I have noticed that the QX30 model has a design issue where the A/C blows hot air every couple of minutes before reverting back to cool air, even when driving with vents only. Despite this, I still appreciate the car's look, size, handling, and cargo space. While I would have preferred a hybrid, I settled for a known commodity. The car's fuel efficiency has not exceeded 25 MPG, despite being advertised at 31 on the sales sticker. Unfortunately, it does not come with heated seats, lane protection, or an automatic lift gate opener either in the car or under the back bumper. Additionally, there has been a rattle in the interior since I bought it, which has been checked on three occasions at the Infiniti service repair, but they have been unable to locate the source of the rattle. Lastly, the sunroof does not open to allow fresh air into the car. Overall, while I am not as enthralled with the car as I was when I bought it in Nov. 2017, I still appreciate its positive features.

Nice small SUV! It definitely could use a little more space in the back seat. A push-to-start and a moonroof that actually opens would be great. I have to say, it's the noisiest car I've ever owned and it drives me crazy.

My mother-in-law visited a friend in the hospital. When they called for service, a gentleman arrived in a car to change the tire, only to discover that the car did not come with a spare. It took four hours for a tow truck to arrive. This is unacceptable! The space where the spare tire should have been was occupied by a large Bose sound system. This issue needs to be addressed immediately to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
