The Ford Expedition is a full-size three-row SUV, manufactured by Ford. Introduced for the 1997 model year as the successor of the Ford Bronco, the Expedition was the first full-size Ford SUV sold with a four-door body. For its entire production life, the Ford Expedition has been derived from the corresponding generation of the Ford F-150 in production, sharing some body and mechanical components. The fourth-generation Ford Expedition began production for the 2018 model year. Similar to the configuration of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the Ford Expedition is sold in regular and extended lengths (the Ford Expedition EL/Max); sold since 2007, the latter functionally serves as the replacement for the Ford Excursion.
Since 1997, the Lincoln division has marketed the Ford Expedition as the Lincoln Navigator, the first full-size SUV sold by a luxury auto brand in North America (the Expedition was never sold as a Mercury). The third Ford vehicle to use the Expedition nameplate, the full-size SUV follows a 1992 F-150 Eddie Bauer concept vehicle and a 1995 trim level package on the two-door Ford Explorer Sport.
Prior to 2009, the Ford Expedition was assembled at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan (previously home to the Ford Bronco). After 2009, the Ford Expedition was moved to the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.

- Summary: In December of 2023 (not even one full year after purchasing my brand new Ford Expedition) I used the FOB to remotely open the trunk on my 2022 Ford Expedition. Upon doing so, I heard popping and cracking sounds. I didn't see any damage, so I didn't think anything of it until I drove on the interstate and immediately heard a violent slapping noise coming from the back of my vehicle. I took the truck to the dealership (where I purchased my vehicle). They inspected the vehicle and said that the spoiler is misaligned and loose - causing the sound and also resulting in a dent on the roof of the vehicle. The dealership said that Ford would not cover the repair under their FULL BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. Three other people with new Ford Expeditions at my dealership have experienced this exact issue. (Also a simple Google search of "Ford spoiler issue" will demonstrate that many others have experienced this issue.) I am extremely nervous to drive my vehicle anywhere as it sounds and feels like the spoiler is going to fly off of the vehicle especially when I drive on the interstate. This is a HUGE safety issue. The spoiler is loose and could fly off on the highway and cause an accident or hit another vehicle. NHTSA is aware of this issue and submitted an SSM to Ford [XXX] ), but Ford will not recall or cover repairs to their vehicles that have a defect and pose a safety risk. - Summary: On [XXX] the front section of the panoramic moonroof shattered after opening the drivers side passenger door and drivers door, the children were climbing into the backseat and I proceeded to open the drivers door after opening their door and the glass shattered. Thankfully nobody was injured. The car was towed to the Ford dealership and they after inspection found no reason for the malfunction. I have asked them today to reach out to Ford Customer Assistance as the estimated repair is $4,000. It was not reported to police or insurance at this time. - Summary: Since purchasing this vehicle in January of 2023, it has been to the dealer three times to repair a failed blind spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert system due to corroded pins in the connectors of the sensors. According to the dealer, this is due to the connector utilizing only four of eight pins which leaves four pins unused and open to corrosion. On the third trip in, the dealer applied, "super glue" to try and prevent any future corrosion. While there was not a specific accident related to this, I do believe this has the potential to cause issues in the future if not properly addressed by Ford. - Summary: My speakers / sound system made a loud sound and minutes later my speakers were explosively loud. I couldn’t get the noise to stop. It was a static / gunfire at the highest volume. I turned my car in and off and couldn’t get it to turn off. It blew my ear drums out. Ultimately had to pull the amplifier fuse to get it to turn off. We have not had it inspected yet. We are taking it to the dealership tomorrow although I have heard of many issues of other owners having the same speaker problem. The only thing that happened before this incident. I thought it sounded like something fell inside my door or dash. I was in park when that happened and had just gotten into my car. Not five minutes later, the speakers blared. Thank god my kids were not in the car this time but I have an infant and he is in my car daily. I couldn’t focus on driving. I almost crashed my car. I had to pull over on a dangerous road just to get away from the sound

- Summary: The audio system of my Expedition has twice made max volume level popping sounds in the dash. It sounded as if fireworks were going off in my car. I turned my car off both times. One time it stopped when turning the car off, the other time I turned the car off and opened and closed the doors multiple times as that usually kills the power to the vehicle bit it continued loudly popping. The popping could be heard from outside of the vehicle it was so loud. It did this for about 15 minutes before we finally got it to stop. My wife hit a curb because of the issue. It causes a severe drag and terrible sound. It also has extremely rough shifting. We had a 2019 Navigator with the same drivetrain that had issues that eventually had to have the motor replaced with less than 10,000 miles.

It malfuctiins during auto pilot asst( doesnt read the hands even though they are on the wheel) Today it wouldn't turned on. when I pressed the brake to turn it on, it said that the steering system fails and that the braking system failed and the screen powered down to save battery. when pressed the brake shook and then locked down. even if left on this vehicle turns off after idling for more than 10 minutes. so that makes no sense. It wouldn't even attempt to turn over.

- Summary: Bought car new last year. Current 15,000 miles. On Saturday, September 2, I turned the ignition off and then opened the drivers door. Suddenly there was a horrendous loud static noise coming from I assume the radio speakers. It was deafening, and lasted about 3 seconds. I have read about other Ford trucks having this problem, but it is the first time for me. I will take it to my Ford dealer tomorrow morning. Apparently there is a quick program update to correct the issue. If this happened while I was driving, it may have caused an accident.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2023 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with third-row seating; and 2019-2023 F-Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 SuperCab vehicles. The owner's manual does not include instructions for adjusting or removing certain head restraints. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."
- Consequence: Without instructions, the head restraints may be improperly adjusted, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will mail the Owner's Manual addendums that describe how to adjust and remove the head restraints for the center seating positions, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 21, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23C20.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2022 F-150, 2022 Maverick, Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 vehicles. Due to a software error, a towed trailer equipped with an electric or electric-over hydraulic brake system may not brake.
- Consequence: Loss of trailer brake functionality could result in extended stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will update the integrated trailer brake control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 22, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S17.

I love it! The car is big and has all the modern features with the feeling of a solid SUV. These are the most comfortable seats I've had in a long time. The 2021 model has the navigation and on-screen controls tucked in the dash in a reasonably sized screen.

I can't complain about anything....after I got used to the size. Tows our boat without a complaint. Have to check every once in a while, to make sure it's still there. It's a great ride and it carries everything we need for our trips. No more putting stuff in the boat in plastic bags. It's also very comfortable, providing the most comfortable ride we have ever had. The performance is beyond our expectations. Although we had to wait six months, it was well worth it.

As the owner of an entertainment company, I needed a vehicle with ample storage space for my speakers and equipment. After an extensive search, I found the perfect fit. Although I initially considered the 4Runner, I found it to be too boxy and trick-like for my taste. The Tahoe and Suburban were also great options, but their higher price point, lower gas mileage, and engine reliability ratings made me hesitant. However, I was fortunate enough to come across a pre-owned 2022 Ford Expedition Limited with the Stealth package, which had everything I was looking for! The vehicle is beautifully designed with comfortable leather seats (heated and cooled), a massive touch screen, and a smooth and quiet ride despite its size. I would highly recommend taking a test drive when shopping for pre-owned vehicles, as some of the Expeditions I test drove felt worn out and had looser handling.

I really love this vehicle! I recently did a solo cross-country trip from Florida to Arizona and back, and I had no issues at all.

Traded a 2021 4Runner and got a new 2021 XLT Expedition... and I'm thrilled with it! It drives very smoothly, has lots of features, and looks both classy and sporty. So far, I'm getting 18.7 mpg... as long as I keep it out of sport mode. LOL I love the exterior and interior, and there's plenty of cargo space too.

I own a 2021 Ford Expedition Limited and while it has some great features, I have had some challenges with it. I have found it to be a bit rough and loud, and it requires frequent gas fill-ups. Additionally, there have been some recalls that Ford has not yet been able to fix. Despite these issues, I have been unable to find a GMC on a lot anywhere to compare. If you are in the market for a full-size SUV, I would recommend test driving all options to find the one that fits you best. Overall, while the Ford Expedition Limited has some drawbacks, it still has some great features worth considering.

I recently purchased a 2021 Expedition Max Limited, trading in my loaded 2013 Expedition EL XLT. While the exterior looks nice and appears to be well-built, I have noticed a significant decrease in the build quality of the 2021 model compared to my 2013. The EcoBoost engine is louder than the 5.4 V-8, and the interior stitching on the seats is subpar. Additionally, the seats feel slightly smaller and less comfortable than my previous model. The interior creaks and rattles, and the rear bucket seats shake over every crack in the road. The ride is rough and loud, making every bump in the road noticeable. Unfortunately, I experienced a faulty fuse box at only 500 miles, which required a tow back to the dealership. While Ford initially wanted me to pay for the towing, the dealership did cover the cost. The rear cargo area has also been downgraded, with the adjustable floor panels being replaced with a cheap and light floor covered in fabric. The auto headlights work but are a little too touchy, blinking from low to high to low more often than necessary. Despite these issues, I must say that the exterior of the vehicle looks nice. However, the numerous flaws in the interior of this high-end vehicle are concerning. I hope that Ford can improve the quality of their vehicles in the future. In the meantime, I am considering purchasing a Nissan Armada, which I have found to be the most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven.

The car was purchased in March 2023. Unfortunately, within 5 miles of driving off the dealer lot, the check engine light turned on. Despite the dealer's initial claim that it was just a simple emissions check, it was discovered that both catalytic converters needed to be replaced. Additionally, the transmission became clunky and would slip when merging on highways. While the car has lots of power and is comfortable, it is advisable to stay away from former rental units. It is important to note that ecoboost engines are known to require meticulous maintenance schedules.
