2006 Chrysler 300s problems
The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured and marketed by Stellantis North America and its predecessor companies as a four-door sedan and station wagon in its first generation (model years 2005–2010) and solely as a four-door sedan in its second generation (model years 2011–2023).
The second generation 300 was marketed as the Chrysler 300C in the United Kingdom and Ireland and as the Lancia Thema in the remainder of Europe.
Background
The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.
When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

Common 2006 Chrysler 300s problems
The 2006 Chrysler 300 is known for several common problems that have been reported by owners. One of the most significant issues is with faulty airbags, which affected many 2006 models. Moisture would collect inside the airbag, causing the material to weaken and rupture easily, leading to a risk of serious injury. This issue was part of a massive safety recall, which was the worst in the company's history.
Another common problem with the 2006 Chrysler 300 is power window motors malfunctioning. This issue is common across the 2004-2015 model years, and it is caused by a busted motor or a worn-out window regulator cable. Depending on the extent of the issue, the window regulator and motor may need to be replaced to fix it.
The 2006 Chrysler 300 also has issues with hard shifting and transmission shuddering, which is common in vehicles with high mileage but is also a problem for low mileage cars. A software update for the powertrain can sometimes resolve the issue.
One of the most troubling concerns that plague the 2006 Chrysler 300 is engine issues. Reports say that customers' cars would randomly stall while they were driving, which can be dangerous and costly to repair. Customers also reported loud unhealthy noises coming from the engine bay before experiencing complete engine failure. The engines failed due to thick sludge found inside the oil, which is often reported happening around the 100k mile mark.
The 2006 Chrysler 300 also has issues with faulty gear shifters, with owners complaining that their shifter would sometimes get stuck in Park, leaving them unable to take their Chrysler out of the garage. The most common fix for this is to replace the shifter.
In summary, the 2006 Chrysler 300 has several common problems, including faulty airbags, power window malfunctions, hard shifting and transmission shuddering, engine issues, and faulty gear shifters. These issues can be costly to repair and can affect the safety and reliability of the vehicle.
