The Cadillac STS (Seville Touring Sedan) is a mid-sized luxury 4-door sedan manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2004 to 2011 for the 2005 to 2011 model years. A version of the STS was marketed in China as the SLS through 2013.
It was equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission with performance algorithm shifting and driver shift control.

The STS was the successor to the Cadillac Seville, which beginning in 1987 was available as an upscale performance-oriented STS (for Seville Touring Sedan) version.

To fix this issue, replace the steering wheel position sensor by following specific steps, including disabling the air bag system, removing the lower dash panels, removing the intermediate shaft, and sliding the sensor out.

- Summary: The Cadillac Company sent me a letter several years ago informing me of a premature timing chain wear and the illumination of the Service Engine light. They knew about this defective engine problem but they did not recall the vehicle. Instead they extended the engine warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles. I have only 90,000 miles on my vehicle but I've owned it for over 10 years and now the check engine light is illuminated. The Cadillac dealer refuses to extend the warranty. This is a safety issue because if the engine were to fail the driver would also lose power steering and power brakes putting the safety of the vehicle occupants and others at risk. I believe that this vehicle and other GM vehicles with the 3.6 liter engine should be recalled and repaired at no cost to the vehicle owner.

THE DIAGNOSIS WAS WRONG AFTER THE STEERING SERVICE LIGHT REMAINED AFTER A GEAR REPLACEMENT AND THE SAME ISSUE CAUSED PAIN. TIME PASSED AND THE SHOULDER GOT WORSE. THERE HAS BEEN 2 WHEEL SENSORS WITH ISSUES. THE DEALER NEVER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR THE TIMING BELT WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR. I AM ALSO NOW HAVING ISSUES WITH THE COMPUTER SCREEN. I CANNOT CHANGE THE TIME ANYMORE.

I overpaid according to these low prices...and I'm still not sorry. Why? Because the person who owned it first took great care of it and had regular service done. Additionally, I read the manual and other instructions so I know how it all functions. If you drive the car in a reasonable manner, don't race or tow anything, and follow these instructions, it will last 200K miles as others say.

I traded in my 2003 CTS for my current 2006 STS, and I absolutely love it! There is no comparison between the two cars. It is the best car I've ever owned. In 2008, we just had our STS delivered and drove it all the way from East Hampton Long Island to Myrtle Beach South Carolina. My wife and kids absolutely loved the ride on this car, even more than our former BMW 5 series. We were pleasantly surprised when the car's computer showed an impressive 21.6 combined MPG, and we were able to get 27 MPG all day long on the highway, running on 87 octane fuel!

If you're searching for a soft, luxurious ride like a Cadillac, the STS may not be the best fit for you. The bucket seats are quite stiff, similar to a Mercedes. However, I recently switched from a 2004 Jaguar S-Type with the Sport Package to a 2006 STS V6 with the Performance Luxury Package, and I must say, I love the STS and all its technology. The STS feels more spacious and luxurious, has a great ride, is quiet, and has no road vibration. Unfortunately, the seats are too firm, which can ruin the ride experience. The lumbar support is also too hard and doesn't fit a 6'2

This is my second Caddy. I decided to get a four-door car because my family grew. When I got this car from the dealer, it was an eye-catcher and test drove it fine. However, after a couple of weeks, I started to have some issues. The dealer couldn't figure it out, and unfortunately, the warranty on the car wouldn't kick in since they couldn't identify the problem. The noise sounded like a belt going bad, and they changed everything imaginable, but the issue persisted. The brakes are not up to the mark, and electronic pieces such as the steering wheel controls for the radio go out too quickly. Additionally, replacing the headlights requires removing the entire bumper, which is a hassle. The dealer asks for 350.00 in labor only, which is a rip-off. Although I do it myself, I have to take a day out on a weekend to do it, which takes away the rest of the weekend. In my opinion, they need to make a car that is more consumer-friendly for repairs such as maintenance for lighting, and then the dealers need to know how to fix these issues. So far, this is my last Caddy, and I wouldn't buy another. I'm going back to BMW, which is a way better car.

I have had 4 major failures with my car since purchasing it in July 06. These include two occurrences of front end rack and pinion failure, wheel bearings in both front and back, and a park gear sensor in the transmission that had to be replaced as the computer did not recognize that the car was in park. Unfortunately, I am afraid that the third issue has caused a problem with the transmission as the car does not have any 'impulse' power when put in drive. Overall, my experience with this car has been very disappointing. I would not recommend purchasing it and I certainly will not make this mistake again. In my opinion, BMW and Lexus offer much better value for the money, as I have owned both. I tried to go with an American car maker this time around, but I am extremely disappointed. Good luck.

I keep a number of cars for different purposes- some for business, some for fun, some for performance, and some just to look at. The STS is perfect for business appointments and really fits the category. Picking up a client in a $100k car or a $1k car sends a message, and the STS is a great choice for that. It's also great for taking my partner out on the town- no worries about the elements or parking lots. When choosing a vehicle, don't settle for less than a fully-optioned one. I recommend getting the heads-up display, V8, navigation, sunroof, 15-speaker Bose sound system, adaptive cruise control, and 18-inch wheels. However, it's important to keep in mind that reliability can be an issue, and finding knowledgeable, competent, and friendly service can be a challenge.

I leased this car almost a year ago because I could get a great lease deal and liked the styling. The engine and transmission are the best features on this car. It rides extremely well and has lots of power! However, there are some areas that could use improvement. The Bluetooth could be better, and we've found that our BMW works much more efficiently. Additionally, the navigation system interface was poorly designed and can be confusing to use. There have been a few minor issues, such as a recall and a loose metal piece in the trunk, as well as a non-working Homelink garage opener and lack of good steering wheel controls. Overall, though, this car is a great value for the price. While a BMW may be a more expensive option, it's important to consider all factors before making a decision.
