The Cadillac STS (Seville Touring Sedan) is a mid-sized luxury 4-door sedan manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2004 to 2011 for the 2005 to 2011 model years. A version of the STS was marketed in China as the SLS through 2013.
It was equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission with performance algorithm shifting and driver shift control.

The STS was the successor to the Cadillac Seville, which beginning in 1987 was available as an upscale performance-oriented STS (for Seville Touring Sedan) version.

The steering wheel position sensor is located at the base of the steering column and senses the steering wheel's position. To fix this issue, replace the steering wheel position sensor by following specific steps, including disabling the air bag system, removing the lower dash panels, removing the intermediate shaft, and sliding the sensor out.

- Summary: The Cadillac Company sent me a letter several years ago informing me of a premature timing chain wear and the illumination of the Service Engine light. They knew about this defective engine problem but they did not recall the vehicle. Instead they extended the engine warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles. I have only 90,000 miles on my vehicle but I've owned it for over 10 years and now the check engine light is illuminated. The Cadillac dealer refuses to extend the warranty. This is a safety issue because if the engine were to fail the driver would also lose power steering and power brakes putting the safety of the vehicle occupants and others at risk. I believe that this vehicle and other GM vehicles with the 3.6 liter engine should be recalled and repaired at no cost to the vehicle owner.

IT WAS NEVER ADDRESSED BY THE BODY SHOP. ALSO PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT THE STEERING HAD AN ISSUE CAUSING PAIN TO MY SHOULDER. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS WRONG AFTER THE STEERING SERVICE LIGHT REMAINED AFTER A GEAR REPLACEMENT AND THE SAME ISSUE CAUSED PAIN. TIME PASSED AND THE SHOULDER GOT WORSE. THERE HAS BEEN 2 WHEEL SENSORS WITH ISSUES. THE DEALER NEVER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR THE TIMING BELT WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR. I AM ALSO NOW HAVING ISSUES WITH THE COMPUTER SCREEN. I CANNOT CHANGE THE TIME ANYMORE.

In an earlier review, I mentioned that the Bose system was terrible. However, I have discovered that there are five different listener settings: Centerpoint, Driver, Talk, Normal, and Rear. After testing all of them, I found that Centerpoint is the best setting to use. The other four settings make the system sound awful at high volumes. When using Centerpoint, the entire system wakes up and the sound quality is easily comparable to the Boston Acoustic system I had in my SRT8 Charger.

Great car! I absolutely love driving this car, especially with its snappy 6 cylinder and all-wheel drive that make it my go-to winter car. The only downside is that it's not quite as comfortable as my Chrysler 300c, so long drives can become a bit of a challenge.

We have both a CTS (2008 premium edition) and an STS (2009 Platinum edition), so we can compare them both. We've also had a 2005 CTS and two (still have one) LT1 Fleetwood Broughams, so we've had a few Cadillacs in recent years. In our experience, handling and performance are equal to or superior to the CTS, particularly with the NorthStar engine and the wide 255mm 18-inch rear tires (the CTS has 235mm front and rear). Interior room is better in the STS, and the single glass sunroof is quieter. The 15-speaker Bose system is very powerful and clear.

The six-speed transmission feels almost continuously variable, making for a smooth and enjoyable ride. I chose the STS because it met all our requirements when we were shopping for a used car: luxury, comfort, and affordability. Although the resale value is not great, we were able to get a better car for our money on the used car market. Overall, I really like the design of the STS, both inside and out. While some people prefer the CTS in terms of design, I personally prefer the more subtle look of the STS. Although I am not usually a fan of extended warranties, I would recommend that anyone considering the STS should look for one that is still under the factory warranty, or in the case of a 2005 or 2006 model, a factory CPO warranty, as there can be some minor issues that arise. It's important to take reviews with a grain of salt. While the 'high-end' stereo is not the best and can easily be outdone by a decent aftermarket one, it's still a great car overall.

I have owned two Caddies, including a 2003 Seville SLS, which was a perfect car. However, I must say that the 2006 model did not meet my expectations. The car's performance is sluggish, and it remains in 5th gear most of the time. Despite this, GM claims that it is up to specs. The Bluetooth feature is unreliable and frequently does not recognize my phone, and the voice recognition feature does not recognize anyone. Additionally, the gas mileage is only about 15 mpg. If you are considering a '06 STS V6 AWD, I would advise you to test drive it extensively before making a purchase.

I recently traded in my 1998 Deville for a 2006 STS 3.6 with 86,000 miles. It was a great car for the first year of ownership. However, around 96,000 miles, I experienced a misfire and ended up replacing the spark plugs. I ordered the parts online and did it myself, which saved me a lot of money. I didn't really experience any other issues until 140,000 miles, when things started to go downhill. The transmission became clunky when shifting from reverse to drive or when coming to a stop and then accelerating again. The LED taillights failed one bulb at a time, but unfortunately, I had to replace the entire assembly. The keyless entry also failed, and the interior chrome door handles peeled and could cut you if the wind took the door out of your hand. Additionally, the gas mileage for a V6 is poor, and it's not great in the Michigan snow. However, the Bose stereo sounds great, and the handling was excellent. It looks a bit sleeker than the CTS. If you're considering this car, I would recommend getting the V8 and being prepared for some issues. Despite these problems, I made it to 167,000 miles before trading it in for a Lexus LS430.

I can understand how frustrating that must be, especially after owning a reliable Volvo for so many years. It's always disappointing when a car doesn't live up to our expectations. The car has unfortunately experienced multiple issues, including problems with stability control and antilock brake system at only 200 miles, and more recently, a complete failure to shift into any gear higher than second. Additionally, there are some paint flaws that require attention. These issues are unacceptable for a vehicle with less than 400 miles on the odometer. However, I am confident that the necessary repairs and improvements can be made to ensure the car meets the expected standards of quality and performance.
