The sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series consists of the BMW F10 (sedan version), F18 (long-wheelbase sedan), BMW F11 (wagon, marketed as Touring) and BMW F07 (fastback/hatchback, marketed as Gran Turismo) executive cars and were produced by BMW from January 2010 (for the 2011 model year) to 2017, with F10 being launched on 20 March 2010 to domestic market and F11 in the summer of 2010. The F10 5 Series shares a platform with the F01 7 Series full-size luxury sedan and the F12 6 Series executive-sized grand tourers. The F10 generation is the first 5 Series to offer a hybrid drivetrain, a turbocharged V8 engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, a dual-clutch transmission (in the M5), active rear-wheel steering (called "Integral Active Steering"), electric power steering, double-wishbone front suspension, an LCD instrument cluster (called "Black Panel Display") and automatic parking (called "Parking Assistant"). A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code F18) was sold in China, Mexico, Turkey and the Middle East. Introduced in 2011, the M5 model is powered by the BMW S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine coupled to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The Gran Turismo (F07) is the first and only 5 Series to be produced in a fastback body style with a hatchback truck opening.
In February 2017, the G30 5 Series was released as the successor to the F10. G32 6 Series Gran Turismo (based on the G30 platform) succeeded the F07.

Common 2014 Bmw 528i problems
The BMW 528i 2014 is known for a number of common problems that owners have reported. These issues range from mechanical faults to electronic malfunctions, affecting the overall performance and reliability of the vehicle.
- Worn tension struts causing looseness in the front suspension: This issue can lead to a loose or unstable driving experience, affecting the vehicle's handling and ride quality. The tension struts are responsible for maintaining the correct tension in the front suspension, and when they wear out, the suspension can become loose, leading to a less precise driving experience.
- Coolant leaks in the water pump and radiator: Coolant leaks in the water pump and radiator can lead to engine overheating, which can cause serious damage to the engine if not addressed promptly. The water pump and radiator are crucial components of the vehicle's cooling system, and any leaks can result in a loss of coolant, leading to overheating.
- Engine overheating caused by thermostat failure: A faulty thermostat can cause the engine to overheat, which can lead to engine damage if not addressed promptly. The thermostat is responsible for regulating the engine's temperature, and when it fails, the engine can overheat, leading to potential engine damage.
- Faulty hydraulic valve lifters: Faulty hydraulic valve lifters can cause a ticking or tapping noise from the engine, which can be a sign of a serious problem. The hydraulic valve lifters are responsible for maintaining the correct valve clearance in the engine, and when they fail, the engine can suffer from reduced performance and fuel efficiency.
- Valve cover gasket leaks: Valve cover gasket leaks can lead to oil leaks, which can be messy and potentially damaging to the engine. The valve cover gasket is responsible for sealing the valve cover to the engine block, and when it leaks, oil can escape, leading to potential engine damage.
- Failure in the blower final stage fan resistor: This issue can cause the vehicle's heating and cooling system to malfunction, leading to reduced comfort and convenience. The blower final stage fan resistor is responsible for regulating the fan speed in the heating and cooling system, and when it fails, the fan speed can become erratic, leading to reduced comfort and convenience.
- Fluid leaks in the power steering hose: Fluid leaks in the power steering hose can lead to a loss of power steering fluid, which can make the vehicle difficult to steer. The power steering hose is responsible for delivering power steering fluid to the power steering system, and when it leaks, the power steering fluid can escape, leading to potential damage to the power steering system.
These are some of the most common problems reported by BMW 528i 2014 owners. It is important to address these issues promptly to maintain the performance and reliability of the vehicle. Regular maintenance and inspections can help to identify and prevent these issues before they become serious problems.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-12-17
- VIN: WBA5A7C59ED
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: I purchased the used BMW from a very reputable dealership May 2021. Last week, I was driving the car and all of the dashboard lights went on suddenly. The car began to buck and I pulled over immediately. I had the car towed to the local BMW dealership. The service department informed me, the serpentine belt broke, wrapped around the crankshaft, and grinded into pieces. The pieced of the belt were sucked into the engine and caused the engine to seize. When researching this problem, because I never heard of it before, it seems it is a fairly common problem with BMW’s. The BMW dealership wanted $14,000 to insert a new engine. There is no way I can afford that, and if it is a known problem, why wasn’t there a recall? I contacted BMW customer service and they said there was nothing they can do to help me. I am stuck with a auto loan for $19,000 with monthly payments, and a car that doesn’t move. When I purchased the car last year, an extended warranty was around 8k because the car was older. This is exactly what happened to my car on this website: www.autoscopecarcare.com/bmw-forum/bmw-serpentine-belt-sucked-inside-engine/
