The first generation of the coupé and convertible range of the BMW 2 Series subcompact executive car consists of the BMW 2 Series (F22) for the coupé version and BMW 2 Series (F23) for the convertible version. The F22/F23 was in production from November 2013 through 2021 and is often collectively referred to as the F22.

The F22 was released as the successor to the E82 1 Series coupé and E88 1 Series convertible. It is currently produced in Leipzig, previously alongside the F20 1 Series hatchback range.

The high-performance F87 M2 model was produced in the coupe body style. It is powered by the BMW N55 and BMW S55 turbocharged inline-six engines.

The United States was the most popular market for the 2 Series, accounting for one-third of all sales, followed by Germany and Great Britain.

Common 2023 Bmw 228i problems

The BMW 228i 2023 is a compact vehicle that has been praised for its well-put-together design and quality. However, there are a few issues that some owners have reported, which are worth considering before purchasing this vehicle.

One of the most common issues reported by owners is a blank iDrive screen, which can occur even when the car is running. This issue can be caused by a glitch or an update, and it can prevent drivers from accessing various features of the car, such as adjusting the temperature or fan speed. While the issue can be resolved by restarting the car or resetting the ECU, it can be frustrating for drivers who rely on the iDrive system for navigation or entertainment.

Another issue that has been reported by some owners is a problem with the braking system. BMW and Rolls-Royce have issued a recall for nearly 80,000 vehicles, including the 2024 BMW 5 Series, 2023-2024 BMW 7 Series, 2024 BMW i5, 2023-2024 BMW i7, 2023 BMW X1, 2024 BMW X5, 2024 BMW X6, 2023-2024 BMW X7, 2023-2024 BMW XM, and 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre. The recall is due to problems with the integrated brake system, which may not function according to specifications. While the mechanical brakes are not affected, the boost function can fail, potentially increasing the stopping distance without warning. This could cause an accident, and anti-lock systems and dynamic stability control can also fail, which could affect vehicle handling and control.

While these issues are not common to all BMW 228i 2023 models, they are worth considering before purchasing the vehicle. It is always recommended to check for recalls and other issues before purchasing a new or used car, and to address any issues promptly to ensure the safety and reliability of the vehicle.
