2007 Audi Rs4 problems

audi logo

The Audi RS 4 is the high-performance variant of the Audi A4 range produced by Audi Sport GmbH for AUDI AG, a division of the Volkswagen Group. It sits above the Audi S4 as the fastest, most sports-focused car based on the A4's "B" automobile platform. The RS 4 was reintroduced in 2012, based on the A4 Avant instead of the sedan as did the original model.

The original B5 version was produced only as an Avant, Audi's name for an estate car/station wagon. The second version, the B7, was released initially as a four-door five-seat saloon/sedan, with the Avant following a short while later. A two-door four-seat Cabriolet version was subsequently added.

The "RS" initials are taken from the German RennSport—literally translated as "racing sport", and is the Audi marque's highest trim level, positioned above the "S" model specification of Audi's regular model line-up. Like other Audi "RS" cars, the RS 4 pioneers some of Audi's latest advanced technology. It is only available with Audi's Torsen-based "trademark" quattro permanent four-wheel drive system.

Its main market competitors include the BMW M3, Mercedes-Benz C63, Lexus IS-F (formerly) and Cadillac ATS-V (now Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing).

    • Solution: Audi has a recall for this issue, offering free repairs for the coil pack.
  4. Lack of Power:
    • Issue: The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor is prone to failure, resulting in a lack of power.
    • Solution: Cleaning or replacing the MAF sensor, which has Bosch sensors fitted as standard, can rectify this problem.
  5. Overheating:
    • Issue: Common overheating problems are linked to a failed coolant sensor or a stuck thermostat.
    • Solution: Check and replace the coolant sensor first, and if needed, replace the thermostat to address overheating issues.

Positive 2007 Audi Rs4 car reviews

  1. Ferne Ernser 2025-06-05

This is an extremely well-engineered car that is difficult to fault. Its DRC offers a very compliant ride when desired, but stiffens in the corners for confident handling in aggressive mode. The engine is superb and an aftermarket exhaust system (several are available) actually makes meaningfully more power. Its redline is 8250 rpm and it is a joy to drive with smoothly delivered power across the rpm range. Winter handling with winter tires is exceptional and the car is on rails in hard packed snow. The design is distinctive even compared to current model A4s. Perhaps the only thing that could be improved is the seat height, which does not lower sufficiently for taller drivers (such as myself at 6').

  2. Buck Runte 2025-05-29

The RS4 is an amazing car! It's fast, corners like a dream, and is incredibly fun to drive. If you've ever owned an S4, you absolutely have to try the RS4 - it's that much better. After driving it for 1500 miles, I'm convinced that this car is worth every penny. However, I do have one concern: there seems to be a vibration in the steering column at speeds between 61 and 65 MPH. I hope that Audi's engineers can address this issue soon, before it becomes a common complaint about this otherwise wonderful automobile. Congratulations to Audi for creating such an outstanding vehicle!

  3. Lazaro Pouros 2025-05-15

Undoubtedly, this is the best sedan available. The power and handling are awesome, and the gas mileage is better than an Audi S4. The silver interior is breathtaking, and the voice control, navigation, and MMI are all very intuitive (I haven't had to open the manuals with questions on any). Everything is executed with class. While it's not an inexpensive car, it's definitely worth the investment.

  4. Jamie Klocko 2025-05-11

The moment you turn on the engine... wow. It sounds so solid, I mean really solid. Once you press the S button, it sounds even sweeter. The handling is fabulous and the acceleration is top notch. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but there is nothing that compares at this moment, so you pretty much have no choice.

  5. Frederic Gorczany 2025-04-24

I purchased my car approximately two months ago and have thoroughly enjoyed driving it every chance I get. It is fast, in control, and a real head-turner on the road. I often receive waves and compliments from other drivers who are eager to see and hear it in action. While I have experienced some issues with oil consumption, the car is still a lot of fun and well worth the investment. The engine responds eagerly to acceleration, especially when the 'S' button is engaged, producing an impressive sound.
