2001 Audi Quattro problems
The Audi Quattro is a road and rally car, produced by the German automobile manufacturer Audi, part of the Volkswagen Group. It was first shown at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show on 3 March. Production continued through 1991.
Background
The word quattro is derived from the Italian word for "four" to represent the fact that the vehicle delivers power to all four wheels. The name has also been used by Audi to refer to the quattro four-wheel-drive system, or any four-wheel-drive version of an Audi model. The original Quattro model is also commonly referred to as the Ur-Quattro - the "Ur-" (German for "primordial", "original", or "first of its kind") is an augmentative prefix. The idea of such a car came from the Audi engineer Jörg Bensinger.
The Audi Quattro was the first rally car to take advantage of the then-recently changed rules that allowed the use of four-wheel drive in competition racing. It won consecutive competitions for the next two years. To commemorate the success of the original vehicle, all subsequent Audi production automobiles with this four-wheel-drive system were badged with the trademark quattro with a lower case "q" letter.
The Audi Quattro shared many parts and platform with the Coupé version of the Audi 80 (B2). The quattro was internally designated Typ 85, a production code it shared with the quattro versions of the Audi Coupé. Its characteristic flared wheelarches were styled by Martin Smith. The Audi Quattro also had independent front and rear suspension.

Common 2001 Audi Quattro problems
The 2001 Audi A4 Quattro is known for several common problems that owners have reported over the years. These issues range from engine problems to interior accessories problems and electrical issues.
One of the most common engine problems is related to the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system, which can cause smoke to come from the engine compartment. This issue is often caused by the infamous PCV constipation, which eventually leads to a leaky valve cover gasket. This problem can be identified by a burning oil smell, especially when the engine is hot. The valve cover gasket is a relatively inexpensive part, but replacing it can be a time-consuming process, which can add to the overall cost of repair.
Another engine problem that has been reported is related to the engine mounts. The engine, transmission, and differential mounts, as well as the rear wheel bearings, are known to have issues in the 2001 Audi A4 Quattro. These components can wear out over time, leading to excessive vibration and noise, especially during acceleration and braking. Replacing these mounts can be expensive, and it is recommended to have a mechanic inspect them regularly to ensure they are in good condition.
The automatic transmission is another component that has been reported to have issues in the 2001 Audi A4 Quattro. Some owners have reported problems with the transmission shifting roughly or slipping, especially in cold weather. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including low transmission fluid levels, a faulty transmission control module, or a worn-out torque converter. Transmission repairs can be expensive, and it is recommended to have a mechanic inspect the transmission if you experience any issues.
Interior accessories problems have also been reported in the 2001 Audi A4 Quattro. One of the most common issues is related to the middle display in between the speedometer and the RPM gauge, which can be broken or malfunctioning. This issue can affect the driver's ability to see important information, such as the fuel level, temperature gauge, and odometer. Replacing the display can be expensive, and it is recommended to have a mechanic inspect the issue to determine the best course of action.
Electrical issues have also been reported in the 2001 Audi A4 Quattro. Some owners have reported problems with the power window regulators, which can cause the windows to move slowly or not at all. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including worn-out window motors, faulty window regulators, or issues with the window switch. Electrical repairs can be complex, and it is recommended to have a mechanic inspect the issue to determine the best course of action
In conclusion, the 2001 Audi A4 Quattro is known for several common problems that owners have reported over the years. These issues range from engine problems to interior accessories problems and electrical issues. It is recommended to have a mechanic inspect the vehicle regularly to ensure all components are in good condition and to address any issues as soon as they arise. While some repairs can be expensive, regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent more significant issues from developing over time.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2004-03-21
- VIN: WAUZL64B81N
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
- Summary: MY FUEL GAUGE HAS FAILED. I CHECKED WITH YOUR RECALL NOTICED FOR MY CAR AUDI A6 4.2L 2001, AND THE SENDING UNIT APPARENTLY HAS FILED AND WAS RECALLED. HOWEVER FOR MY PARTICULAR ENGINE, NO SUCH RECALL WAS INITIATED. THE 4.2 L ENGINE SHOULD ALSO BE PART OF THIS RECALL. IT TOOK MY $4,000 TO FIGURE OUT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE SENDING UNIT. THE AUDI DEALERSHIP HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD WHICH NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP AND THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO COVER THE 4.2L ENGINES AS WELL. I WAS STRANDED TWICE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS BECAUSE I RAN OUT OF FUEL BECAUSE IT READ HALF FULL. CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENDED IF IT OCCURRED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN THE DESERT. PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS GETS RECALLED!. WORRIED CONSUMER. THANK YOU *TR

TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2003-07-02
- VIN: WAUYP54B71N
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: MY HUSBAND AND I OWN A 2001 AUDI ALLROAD WHICH IS EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER F1 RADIAL TIRES MARKED ALLROAD SIZE 225 R17 M+S RATED. THESE ARE THE ONLY MANUFACTURER APPROVED TIRES FOR THE VEHICLE. ABOUT A YEAR AGO I EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE AND THE SIDEWALL WAS DAMAGED REQUIRING A NEW TIRE. IT TOOK SEVERAL DAYS TO OBTAIN A TIRE AND I WAS LIMITED TO DRIVING ON STREETS AS THE SPARE IS NOT A FULL SIZE TIRE AND CANNOT BE USED OVER 50MPH. ON JULY 2, WE EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE CAUSED BY A NAIL AND THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE BLEW OUT. WE TRIED TO FIND A REPLACEMENT. THE 3 AUDI DEALERS IN OUR AREA DID NOT CARRY THE TIRE, AND AFTER SEVERAL REFERRALS WE FOUND A TIRE AT GRAND PRIX TIRES IN COSTA MESA CA WHICH HAD BEEN ORDERED BY A CUSTOMER BUT NOT PICKED UP. AT THE SAME TIME WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS ABNORMAL WEAR ON ANOTHER TIRE WHICH NEEDED REPLACEMENT SO WE IMMEDIATELY ORDERED AN ADDITIONAL TIRE. WHEN I CHECKED ON THE STATUS OF THE ORDER ON JULY 30, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES ARE ON BACK ORDER AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST A MONTH---WHICH MEANS THAT I AM FORCED TO DRIVE ON A WORN TIRE. I CONTACTED AUDI'S CUSTOMER ADVOCATES WHO CLAIM THAT IT IS A NON-AUDI PART AND THAT THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMIT THAT IT IS THE ONLY TIRE WHICH CAN BE USED ON THE VEHICLE. THEY REFERRED ME TO THEIR SUPPLIER---THE TIRE RACK WHO LOOKED INTO IT AND AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THE TIRES ARE ON BACK ORDER FROM GOODYEAR AND THAT IT WILL BE A MONTH OR MORE TO GET ONE (A TOTAL OF 7 WEEKS PLUS). AUDI REFUSES TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE SO I AM REQUESTING YOUR ASSISTANCE IN RESOLVING IT AS IT HAS NOW BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO THE WEAR ON THE TIRE AND THE LACK OF ANY OTHER TIRE FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE.*AK

- Summary: TIRE CRACKING, SEPARATING AT SEAMS AND LOOSING AIR. REPORTED PROBLEM TO PERILLI AND THEY WERE UNINTERESTED. AT THIS TIME ONLY ONE TIRE IS FLAT. I FEAR THE OTHER THREE WILL ALSO CRACK AND SEPARATE . ALL THE TIRES ARE FROM THE SAME SERIES. AFTER I FINALLY GOT PERELLI TO REPLACE 1 TIRE IT IS NOW TWO WEEKS AND THE TIRE IS STILL NOT ARRIVED AT CRAVEN TIRES. ( THIS IS WHERE PERELLI INSTRUCTED ME TO GO) I HAVE HAD TO RENT A CAR WHILE MY CAR SITS WITH A FLAT. I DO NOT BELIEVE MY DEFECTIVE TIRES ARE AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. I TOLD PERILLI ABOUT THE PROBLEM BEFORE THE TIRE WENT FLAT AND TOLD THEM OF MY CONCERN IN DRIVING MY CAR WITH CRACKED TIRES PEELING AND LEAKING AIR. DT
