I’ve heard of others failing at 80k miles, etc. this is absurd that this is happening! a car is supposed to move and steer that’s what makes it a car. Volkswagen needs to recall this and reimburse those who have paid to have it fixed. The car is incredibly dangerous to drive with the steering rack failing.

- Summary: Hello, I have had much trouble with this automobile. In fact it’s has become a nightmare. While driving on highway 75/85 with massive traffic in a major city, my level of anxiety was raised because I was about 15 minutes from home. I had to travel for 40 minutes. I took a chance hoping that the car did not stop or give out in traffic in the middle of the highway. First my navigating system would not function, it kept blanking out off and on or dancing around, so and I could not get it to give directions toward home. Then the dashboard began to light up with multiple lights. I’m a senior citizen over 70 years, with a compromised immune system and felt very anxious or worried for my safety as well as others and that the car would stop in a 6 lane interstate going one way in traffic. June 2022- the Thermostat housing and water pump gave out for no reason. The Control Arms Brushes had to also be replaced which should have lasted for at least 80,000 miles. At the time my automobile had only 48,000 miles as a 2017 Tiguan. On 9/16/22, I was told by the dealership that it would take 2 weeks before I could get in to them to have a diagnostic to see what maybe the problem. Right now the car is parked, I live on a fixed income, with medical problems and doctors appointments of which I can’t afford to miss. This is my only means of transportation and I don’t have multiple cars as well as I live alone. This is very frustrating!!! Out of all the automobiles I have owned, I’ve never had such problems as I have with this one. The warning lights are still showing. I counted 6 as of this date. I am asking that you will consider the circumstances and replace this automobile for the blue book value, at least, so that I can feel safe and that I’m not jeopardizing my life as well as others around. Upon backing out of my garage, I turned the wheel and heard an odd clicking sound in my steering wheel/column. I made my way to meet my friends, only to find that my airbag light and tire pressure sensor had come on in my dash. Later on, I discovered I couldn’t use any of the controls on my steering wheel, and my horn wasn’t functioning. Thankfully I don’t use the car to travel much because I work from home, but there are times when I need to run errands. I researched the problem and the only conclusion I could reach was the clockspring was damaged. I have yet to take it to my garage because apparently, there is a shortage of the part needed. I have also read there was an initial recall on this part several years ago, but I’m concerned this is still an issue in these vehicles. I’m also concerned that because the part shortage, it won’t pass inspection. Something needs to be done to remedy this defect. It’s far too dangerous to let this go any longer.

- Summary: I have had my clock spring replaced in my 2017 VW Tiguan 3 times and it continues to break. I have had a clock spring on "order" since December 2021 and the VW dealership cannot fix my car. My horn doesn't work nor does any functions on my steering wheel and I am pretty sure my drivers air bag would not go off as the light is on and happens each time my clock spring has broken. This is a known issue that VW has and the NHTSA has previously investigated the issue on a prior year recall. The only warning sign prior to my clock spring breaking each time sounded like crumpling or breaking plastic when turning the steering wheel a certain way. When it finally broke each time it was like plastic snapping and the air bag light comes on and nothing on steering wheel works. No horn no nothing. The Volkswagen dealership has replaced my clock spring 3 times one of which Flow Volkswagen in Wilmington NC tried to charge us...did but eventually refunded when I provided documentation but told me I was going to have to pay for it all and charged me over $200 to tell me it was broken and parts were on backorder and I would have to wait until they came in but was also responsible for paying for all the repairs. This would have been the second time Flow Volkswagen in Wilmington o replaced my clock spring. Please help. I don't know what to do and I am nearing my annual inspection and cannot and will not pass because I have no horn.

- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2017 Audi A7, A4, A6, Volkswagen Golf and Tiguan vehicles and 2016 Volkswagen e-Golf vehicles for driver frontal air bags, passenger frontal air bags or head air bags that may not deploy properly. Additionally, certain 2017 Audi Q7, A4 Sedan, A4 Allroad, and 2018 Audi Q5 vehicles are being recalled because the seat belt pretensioners may not activate properly.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash, if the air bags and/or the seat belt pretensioners do not inflate or function properly, the vehicle occupants have an increased risk of injury.
- Remedy: Volkswagen and Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected air bags and seat belt pretensioners, free of charge. The recall began April 2017. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.

The Tiguan is a sporty, agile, small, tall wagon. It's fun to drive, handles well, and has excellent acceleration, although the premium gas isn't so good. The interior is excellent for the price, making it a very good value overall!

Take it for a long test drive. Hills and traffic. The 6-speed transmission can make driving less than intuitive. Constant up & down shifting in traffic was a constant source of irritation. In August 2019, we traded it for a 6-cylinder 2017 Subaru Outback with Eyesight and a nice smooth transmission.

I bought the Tiguan in 2017 and have had no problems. I love the oil change every 10,000 miles!

The new and improved Tiguan has room for improvement. The navigation system could benefit from being more intuitive. Personally, I prefer to use Google Maps exclusively. While the turbo engine has moments of good performance, it can be interrupted by unexpected high revs and noise. The transmission could also use some improvement, as it struggles to determine which gear to be in. Overall, the driving experience did not meet my expectations for a VW. However, I am confident that VW will continue to improve their vehicles. I also regret not taking the opportunity to purchase a Subaru Forrester.

My husband surprised me by leasing the 2018 Tiguan. It's a great looking car and it drives really well. However, with two kids in car seats, it's a bit of a challenge. The middle row is the only option for the car seats, which makes the third row almost useless. Getting to the third row is a bit of a hassle, but we manage. Unfortunately, the design of the cab makes me and my daughters feel carsick more often than in any other vehicle we've been in. Additionally, the sound of opening and closing the windows is quite loud, but we've found a way to adjust the levels to make it more comfortable. The auto-shut down feature is great for the environment, but it can be a bit of a pain to manually restart the car so often. The back area is spacious, but only if you put down the two middle seats. Unfortunately, I can't fit my furniture refinishing supplies in the back, which is a bit of a bummer. The back area also slopes towards the hatch door, which has caused a few spills when bringing groceries home. Lastly, the seatbelt alarm goes off if my phone is on the passenger seat, but we've found a way around it. Overall, while there are a few minor inconveniences, we are still happy with our VW family and my Passat is still going strong as my husband's daily driver.I hope you're doing well! Hey there! I've been commuting with my 2017 Tiguan for the past five years. Although I had some early issues with the fuel pump and starter, they were covered under the extended warranty (72k). The MPG remains on the low range even on the highway, but I absolutely love the responsive handling and firm ride. With an average of 20k miles yearly and approaching 100k, I give my Tiguan a strong B rating. I'm not a fan of the style of newer models and I found the stop/start technology to be annoying on new Tiguan's. What do you think?

We were in search of a new car for our daughter who is headed off to college, four and a half hours away from home. Our top priority was safety, followed by AWD, decent gas mileage, and reasonable price. We researched several brands including Nissan, VW, Toyota, BMW, Audi, Chevy, Ford, and Honda. Unfortunately, the Tiguan was the only small SUV we tested that did not offer any of the current safety technology. We were looking for active braking assist, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, cross traffic monitoring, rear camera, adaptive cruise control, etc. It was disappointing to find out that VW does not offer any of these features on this vehicle. We believe that safety features are essential for everyone, regardless of their financial status. Other brands we looked at were nearly as bad, since they only offered the safety features on the high-end models. However, Toyota has now made a positive change by providing a nice suite of safety features standard on its Prius. Although we don't get the AWD, we are happy with the safety features that come with it.

The Panoramic sunroof and windshield leaks in our 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan on all sides. However, I have successfully fixed the issue myself, without having to spend 1.5k at a dealer or spend a whole afternoon tearing my car apart piece by piece while watching every video on youtube.
