Infiniti Qx60 hybrid problems

infiniti logo

The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.

In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.

First generation (L50; 2013)

The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.

The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.

The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

  • VIN: 5N1AL0MM5FC

  • Summary: The car intermittently will not accelerate after being idle at stop signs etc. this has occurred on 3-5 instances in the last 4 months. All but one time when getting the vehicle later it didn't have any issues. The battery has been tested and is good, I cleaned the terminals and still had it occur. Upon reading an Infiniti forum it sounds like it is an intermittent alternator issue or electric module. This put my daughter in a stalled vehicle in an intersection several times after trying to troubleshoot issues to resolve it.

  • Summary: We purchased this vehicle 3 days ago. Day 2 there was a transmission shudder. I know these cvt transmissions have issues but with less than 18k miles??? I looked up and yes infiniti extended the warranty but we no longer qualify for this I don't think this is fair! IT HAS 18K MILES on it. The fact infiniti didn't recall the transmission is ridiculous. There are thousands of people experiencing shudder issues, cars dying, this is a danger to the drivers and their families. Why is there no recall? Extending a warranty didn't do anything! This cvt needs to be recalled and fixed so people aren't in danger of crashing.

To avoid the shaking, I must place the vehicle in neutral until it comes to a complete stop. If I shift into drive before I stop, the vehicle shudders again. • Date Of Incident: 2024-05-03
  • Date Complaint: 2024-05-08
  • VIN: 5N1AL0MM4EC
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: I bought my 2014 Infiniti QX60 in 2016 that had a little over 68k miles on it. On May 3, 2024, I just hit over $100k & felt the car do a soft lurch then it started to do a small crawl inch by inch. No warning lights came on or messages. Before this happened, I heard what I thought was a flat tire, or a plane taxing sound. I got the car towed to a mechanic shop and was told that I need a new 'transfer case'. I was told that there was a recall for this but do not see it for this model. If Infiniti knew it had problems why was a recall not done. If I want to get it fixed it will cost over $5k again. I already got it changed and the front differential a year ago. So is this something that will have to be done yearly?

The vehicle was taken to the same dealer several times however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

  • Date Complaint: 2024-04-02
  • VIN: 5N1AL0MM8EC
  • Components: AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I have an infiniti qx60 that has a hairbag malfunctioning for a long time now. I've taken it to be serviced by infiniti many times. However, they could never fix it. At one point, I decided to leave it alone until the last time I took the car in to be serviced. The person who was helping me noticed that I had two children car seats in the car, so he decided to tell me that this car isn't safe to be driving with young children in it. Don't know what to do since the warranties have expired. Plus, they couldn't fix it when I had warranties on the car. I'm afraid that my family is at risk driving this car. I would love to stop driving this car before something terrible happens to my children. However, it is our only means of getting around right now

  • Report Received Date: 2015-10-20
  • Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.

The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (OCS) control unit during a repair. These OCS control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.
