The Hyundai Santa Fe (Korean: 현대 싼타페) is an automobile produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 2000. It is a five-door crossover SUV that either has front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. It is named after the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and was introduced for the 2001 model year as Hyundai's first SUV. The Santa Fe was a milestone in the company's restructuring program of the late 1990s because the SUV was a hit with American buyers. Between 2006 and 2012, the Santa Fe was positioned between the smaller Tucson compact crossover and the larger Veracruz.

The third-generation Santa Fe introduced in 2012 was available in two versions, which are regular (short) and extended long-wheelbase version. The short model was sold as the Santa Fe Sport in North America (three-row seating was not available) and simply Santa Fe in global markets (three-row seating was standard or optional), while the extended long-wheelbase model is called the Santa Fe in the US, Santa Fe XL in Canada and called the Hyundai Maxcruz in South Korea. The fifth and current generation was released in 2023 and omits diesel engines in favor of petrol hybrid powertrains.

As of 2022, the Santa Fe is positioned between the smaller Tucson – which the Santa Fe shares platform with – and the larger Palisade in Hyundai's global crossover SUV line-up.

I believe this is what happened to my car. Hyandai has done a diagnostic but failed to cover it under their extended engine warranty.     I purchased my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe used in 2015 with 22,000 miles. Since then, I have added another 25,000 miles. The turbo is fantastic and accelerates quickly. The heated seats and steering wheel are great features. The surround sound and speaker systems are also very impressive. However, the car does ride rough and has loud road noise. The interior feels a bit cheaply made and there are some squeaks and rattles. For the price, you do get a lot of features, but I personally would not choose to buy another Hyundai.

    Hi there! I recently leased the Santa Fe Sport 2.0T with the navigation package, but I've been having a few issues. Unfortunately, I'm only getting around 17 mpg in the city, which isn't great. Additionally, I've been having trouble connecting my phone to the Bluetooth, which is a bit frustrating. I've had success connecting my phone in my 2013 Toyota Camry and my older Tucson, but not in this Santa Fe. The seats are a bit hot in the current summer weather, but I'm hoping they'll be more comfortable in the winter. I do wish I had gone with a Jeep, Subaru, or Toyota instead, as they were a bit pricier but may have been worth it in the end. Thanks for listening!

    I purchased a used 2016 Santa Fe Sport with 56,000 miles in February 2021. Over the next year, I put 14,000 miles on it with regular maintenance and found it to be reliable and relatively comfortable. Unfortunately, the engine seized one day on my way to work. I was able to get it to the closest mechanic in limp mode and it was eventually towed to a Hyundai dealership. After inspection, they found metal shavings and informed me that the engine needs to be replaced. I am currently waiting for Hyundai's approval of the replacement under warranty. Although I wish I had done more research prior to purchasing the car, I have learned that the Theta 2.4L engine that comes standard on the Santa Fe is faulty. In fact, there was a court settlement on the engines in 2020 that acknowledged this issue. While I was initially happy with the vehicle, this issue has caused significant financial and convenience costs as I have been renting and borrowing vehicles for the past month. I have given a rating of 2 stars based on my experience over the first year, but I hope that Hyundai will swiftly remedy the situation at their cost under warranty, otherwise my rating will have to be reduced to 1 star.

    I was informed that the engine had sludge. The dealer had provided the last oil change, but unfortunately, the service manager said that the warranty was no longer valid due to my visit to Jiffy Lube. It's a sad situation.

    I acquired this vehicle in early July this year and have driven 2500 miles so far. After doing my car buying homework and research, I finally traded my reliable 2010 Honda CRV-EXL for a 2017 HSF Sport 2.0T Ultimate to get more room, comfort, power, and advanced technology, yet it doesn't compromise safety, reliability, and fuel economy. The 4-cylinder engine boasts 240hp turbocharged power. The safety features are excellent, including Auto Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, which I already put to the test driving down Santa Monica, CA bumper-to-bumper traffic. The Blind Spot Sensor is awesome, and the Smart Cruise Control with Stop/Start, Lane Departure Warning, Electronic Parking Brake, Auto Leveling, and Bending Head Lights make driving a breeze. Some other cool features are the Panoramic Sunroof, hands-free Liftgate, 360-degree multi-view camera system, 8-inch Touchscreen Navi System, Powerful Premium Surround Sound System, and 19-inch alloy wheels, to mention a few. The vehicle comfortably seats 5 adults with so much leg and elbow room to wiggle. The cargo trunk is very generous, and the ride and handling are so smooth, quiet, and responsive. The steering wheel controls and dash controls are very easy to reach and operate. As far as the appearance, I love the stylish and sportier looks, and I couldn't ask for more designs. I just updated my Navi System, which also included the installation of Apple CarPlay, where you can actually see your iPhone screen on the Navi screen itself, which is pretty cool for iPhone users (has built-in Android support feature). The Bluelink App (subscription) is also available, where you can remotely access the vehicle from virtually anywhere. Lastly, no one can beat the nation's best 10yr/100K mile powertrain warranty for peace of mind. Overall, I love the vehicle thus far, and I have no regrets or complaints, being a Toyota/Honda person for quite a long time.

    My wife and I purchased our Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 T on 3/17/16 from Walter's Fiat in Riverside, CA. It had a little over 29,000 miles on it. We absolutely love everything about this car, from the panoramic sunroof and 19-inch wheels to the Infinity 10-speaker sound system, blind spot monitor, beautiful leather interior, huge backup camera, rear heated seats, and the quiet, smooth ride. We sold our 2011 Toyota RAV4 Limited to buy this car and have not regretted it for a moment. This car has been a very pleasant surprise.

    As a proud owner of two Honda Accords, a 2010 and a 2014, over the past 8 years, I was initially interested in purchasing a CRV. However, upon discovering that the CRV did not have a CD player, I decided to explore other options. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the CRV can play music files from CDs if they are transferred to a USB in the WAV format. After testing both cars, I found that the CRV is a great car with good and smooth acceleration, fine handling, and comfortable seats similar to the Accord. The music playback was decent, sounding slightly better than my V6 Accord. However, after testing the Santa Fe Sport, there was no comparison. The Santa Fe was faster, as expected with its 240hp compared to the CRV's 190hp. Although the CRV has better fuel efficiency, the Santa Fe's seats were more comfortable and better for my back. Additionally, the Santa Fe has a CD player and a far superior sound system compared to the CRV, with much better clarity and options to change the balance. The cargo space in both cars is about the same, but the CRV's second-row seats fold down flat while the Santa Fe's are up about 6 inches. The Santa Fe has more room in the back for basically the same area, and the spare tire is located outside below the car, which is very convenient. Although the Santa Fe has only one USB port compared to the CRV's four, it has two 12V plugs in front that can be adapted to a USB plug. The Santa Fe's 4-camera setup is very useful in parking, providing a great view as if you are looking down above the car by 20 feet, making parking lines and curbs easy to see. The Santa Fe also has more safety features, but the CRV is fine in that area as well.I really appreciate the convenience of being able to transfer my CD collection onto a USB in WAV format and play it, but I understand that MP3s are also an option. However, the process of transferring CDs to a computer and then copying them to a USB can be quite tedious, especially since I have hundreds of CDs. In my opinion, a CD player is still the better option. Both the Santa and the CRV have Bluetooth capabilities, so using your phone to play music is also an option. I ultimately chose the Santa over the CRV because it has better acceleration, more comfortable seating, a much better sound system, and a moon roof that is twice as big as the CRV's. I didn't use the moon roof much in my Accords, but this one is spectacular and I find having it open to be quite enjoyable! People are always amazed when they see it. Additionally, the reliability of Honda versus Hyundai was an important factor for me, and Honda seems to be better in that area. However, since the Hyundai comes with a 60k and 5-year warranty and I plan to keep it for 3-4 years, that wasn't a major concern. I appreciate that Honda didn't include a $35 CD player in the CRV, which ultimately led me to choose the Santa. I should also mention that while the CRV was cheaper by a few thousand, the discount offered by Honda was far less, maybe $1500? I didn't get a firm price as I wasn't pleased with the CRV. On the other hand, the Freehold Hyundai representative, Tony Rodriguez, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, answering all of my questions or finding the answer quickly. I had researched the best price on the internet and knew what I wanted to pay. I told Tony all of this, and he went to his manager and came back with $6250 off the MSRP. I was very pleased. He did ask if I was ready to buy today, and I said yes, and I did. An additional plus at Freehold Hyundai is that they have some great coffee there! I must have had six cups! It was actually an enjoyable experience. After I drove home and read some of the features, I got a low battery alert. I went back to the dealer and said the battery needed to be charged. Tony asked if I had the accessory feature on without the engine running for 10 minutes, and I said yes. He replied that after 10 minutes in accessory mode, that warning light comes on.Battery is fine. Don't worry, I know the manual is long, but it's worth it! With over 100 pages, it's packed with useful information that will help you get the most out of your new device. I know it can be overwhelming, but let's take it one step at a time. You'll be a pro in no time!
